Bush dog is just a fat weasel.
I think there are advantages to both:
- Raccoon dog - easily marketable, cute, known in popular media (specifically Super Mario and Animal Crossing)
- Bush dog - South American rep, semi-aquatic, funky
Look we’re missing the point here. Don’t care if they’re fat or fluffy versions of things we already have. I care that they’re cute. That’s all that matters.

That is how I feel about my fluffy raccoon! Though I wouldn't be mad with the bush dog. Just no more off-brand wolves or foxes, please.
