Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

More of a fun topic changer. Which animal would you build for first if we get
  • Highlands Animal Pack?
  • Tundra Animal Pack?
Obviously depends on what we would get but for highlands it would easily be the baboon.
Tundra its really hard to tell, and its not too far fetched that i wouldnt even build for any of them. Mostly due to me currently building a desert zoo and i have no intention on starting something new right now. And well, its hard to put any tundra animals in there without it looking out of place, so the only thing i can myself using is an antarctic penguin in an indoor setting, i guess puffins could also be housed indoor without feeling too strange.

Dang it, I want a mountain pack but perfect spots keep opening up in my zoo for other animals, now I’m back to wanting the Mara 😭 Can’t decide.
I'm happy the mara and the rhea have gained so much traction the past few months, but i'm afraid it is to late for them to be included in Frontier plans for whatever content is left. I'm more confident in getting the rhea since is an easy to make clone, requested, can fit in different themes and it being the only large ostrich like ratite left is very suspicious and feels intentional, but for the mara i fear i might have gather it's popularity to late 😵‍💫

True, although I can see the Mara being an easy clone off of the capy. I just have the perfect spot for it in my zoo as a filler, and when you take away big icons like Maned Wolf, Jaguar, monkeys, we really don’t have very many filler SA species. I would definitely take the Rhea as well, but aren’t Rhea usually kept with other species that we also don’t have in the game? I’ll build for them regardless.

Highlands- markhor, bighorn, or mountain goat. Just depends which ones we get.
Tundra- walrus I like Muskox most but wouldn’t be able to not build a walrus exhibit.
That said I got a strange feeling we get neither pack this time around. I think frontier might have a curveball up it’s sleeve. Packs have been so hard to guess after the SA and Australia pack.

They are kept with pretty much anything. Maras, Guanacos/vicuñas and capybaras are usually the go to animals but i've seen pictures of zoos in other countries where they share habitats with tapirs, giant anteaters, even deer.

@CharlieXGaming that is true. We knew continental packs would finish off each one. I have to admit I’m surprised frontier hasn’t thrown in a pack like a primate pack yet. It may not be everyone’s favorite pack but a animal pack consisting of primates would possibly finish them off. The only question of course is what would the exhibit animal be?

They wouldn't do a full on primate pack, or really any group of animal other than maybe birds. The problem with pack ideas like these is that if someone doesn’t Iike building for primates, they instantly skip the pack, and while it could be spread out throughout the world of primates, it doesn’t change the fact that some people just don’t like building for primates. I still think they should add primates in packs more frequently, but putting all of them in one would probably be a bad decision for financials.

The only exception I could see being made to this rule is ground birds, cause it can cover all 3. All across the world, different habitat styles, and a variety of shapes and sizes of birds. Plus they can’t save the bird gap by just giving us 1-2 every year.

Interesting, you think they’d enjoy a jaguars company? Nah who am I kidding, jaguars are adorable, of course they’ll get along.

Rheas are rather chill so zoos tend to just throw in whatever with them.

All kinds of south american camelids aswell as maras are the most common mixes, but the general rule of thumb is if it wouldnt predate the rhea its fair game.
Have a neat picture dump of them with many other kinds of animals:

So to answer the age old question, do i physically suffer cause i do not get to build cool south american mixes species enclosures?
Yes
Is the rhea also pretty chill?
Also yes

I mean going off of all of our speculated rosters, I’d build for:
• Markhor
• Muskox

The Markhor would go next to the Alpine Ibex in a huge mountain habitat right at the front of my zoo in a similar style to Berlin’s Ibex and Takin habitat. I just would prefer the Markhor in this spot over a Takin for personal preference reasons.

The Muskox I would put in my Artic Circle section based on the Nordics area at Copenhagen. It’s what I’m most looking forward to building over the Christmas season!

all i’m getting from this post is that we need the Brazilian tapir just as much as every other South American species everyone considers essential

also surprised you didn’t grab a giant anteater pic. I’m just now getting home from visiting the nearest zoo, which features those two together.
