X55 Rhino Button Layout with Reference Card

I use trackir, when I look at either of the panels I then push Hat 4 on the throttle which moves across the top menu then I push Hat 2 on the stick which moves up or down each menu this is using the in built X55 profile, so you are saying this does not work, does the Saitek software see the buttons when you press them?

Really struggling to get into ED due to never ending issues with controls not working as expected. I'm now trying an X55, but for some reason when I have the joystick plugged in I can't get any keys/buttons to move left/right within the control panels. If I play with just keyboard/mouse ( or a basic joystick like the Microsoft FF Sidewinder ) then I have no issues ... of course the problem then, is that it's not a HOTAS setup.

Anyone have similar issues ? It's getting quite exasperating.

Do you have any other USB controllers plugged in as well ?

I've just mapped buttons 25 & 27 on my X55 (the ones on the lower hat on the throttle) to Left & Right on the UI panels and they work fine, for whatever that's worth.

Wish I could be more help but I'm stumped.

OK, so I've been ing around with the Saitek Software to get a somewhat decent profile for Elite.

Not there yet, as not everything is mapped, but basic functions are there.
With the following two files (one is the Elite keybindings and the other the Saitek Profile), one should be able to use them.

What I plan to do: Have different Modes (normal, landing, fight) with the logical bindings for each mode (e.g. no boost-binding on landing mode)

For those wanting to try these: look in the Saitek software what is bound to what, I have bound various functions to my liking, not sure if others agree :)
For example, hyperjump is the keypress of the big top rotary on the throttle, just to give me that 'Engage' feeling :) Also I have disabled autodeploy of weapons, but that is more of a RPG element (deploying weapons should be a conscious descision, not an accident) so that is bound to SW1.

Elite Bindings
Saitek Bindings

Don't forget to activate the Saitek part in their software.

Greetings,

Here are two blank worksheets in pdf format for the Saitek X-55 joystick and throttle. Should make programming in the commands a little easier per writing them down. Note ED Beta Standard already has a default X-55 setup in the controller options. The blanks will make it easier should you want to make changes...or use them for any other game. Thanks to whoever created the original graphics. I'll certainly give them credit if I can ever find out who it was.

Meanwhile how to mount the controllers? Found this picture on the net. So cool!

If you like that then you might be interested in the generator in my signature. Basically it takes your existing Custom.binds file and generates the filled in reference sheets for you from that information, avoiding the need for you to muck about with doing it manually. Very handy if you chop and change your configuration frequently, as I do.

Exactly what I've been looking for thank you guys for the reference sheets.

Got my x55 the other day and struggled to remember binds after just a few mins.

Is OP's post the stock bind set made by FD?

No, it isn't. The default binds are just a few buttons, and totally different ones, too ;)

If you want to visualize your own bindings, go to jgm's Reference Sheet Tool at
Saitek X-55 Rhino reference sheet generator for your configuration: http://www.mcdee.net/elite/

Thank you so much just got my X55 in and never really playing with a joystick it's nice knowing what other people use so I can try it and change what feels the best.

I am having a problem with getting the free look to work with the X55 is anyone using the actual flight stick or a particular button to get it working?

I have mine set to the first button on the back of the throttle. I just click it and move my head around with the inverted hat on the stick. I click it again to re-center.

Ok one last problem I am having a real hard time with my Z axis it will turn both ways only sometimes then in the middle of gameplay it just stops turning in one direction I think +zaxis anyone else been having problems with it?
