I'm guessing I'm pretty traditional when it comes to sci-fi ships, I'm sure my fellow CMDRs have different opinions. I really like the Federal Dropship, it looks 100% it's name and something the military would have come up with for the mission.

Anyway, what's yours? How is FD doing so far with their designs according to your likings?

At the moment my favorite SF ship is the Nautilus from 200,000 leagues under the sea. Here is my take on it.

In game, if I have to say one it's be the Imperial Clipper

Out of game, I'm a fan of the classics.

In-game, probably the Asp.

In science fiction novels, the "Nostalgia for Infinity" in Alastair Reynold's Revelation Space trilogy.

In movies... well, forget all this recent stuff. Let an old guy show you what we were imagining back in 1956, with the United Planets Cruiser C-57D from "Forbidden Planet"... now that's a spaceship:

what game is that?

The game that got me into space simulators. That is X3 Terran Conflict/X3 Albion Prelude. A pretty fun game but the AI is... as smart as a blind gerbil. The Auto pilot is known to crash into... everything. It needs to be modded properly to work great. Still a fun game... despite using an engine that is nearly 10 years old. If you work correctly you can make an empire that earns you thousands of credits a minute. I ran out of room to park my capital ships, so I bought more stations to use as garages... then quit because I could not spend fast enough.

In game, i'm saving up for the Orca. Just love the design. A total Pimpmobile.

From Sci-Fi... thought long and hard about this, and glad to see a few people already posted close contenders that i might have chosen, so in the end decided on this....

The Bliztspear from Nemesis the Warlock. After all, who doesn't want a demon possessed spaceship?

Along a similar line, but no official artwork for them i believe, a Voidhawk or Blackhawk or just perhaps a Hellhawk LD from Peter F. Hamilton's Night's Dawn Trilogy. ;)

I don't know how many people remember the excellent Terran Trade Authority collection from the late 70's. They were full of amazing ship designs from some of the best illustrators of the day. Illustrators, pre-cgi.

Welp, someone went and converted many of my favorite ships from that series into CGI animated versions. And it's awesome.
