I’m too serious and not at all imaginative enough to think of witty names for my spaceships, so I’ve gone the compromise route and seriously named them after local celebrities and history. We’ve got the Henry Bolckow deep space miner, named for a local industrialist; the Keelback Dorman Long, named for a old metalworking firm was originally a S&R vessel but after being hastily refitted as an armed and up-armoured merchantman for the Ackwada CG was renamed the Infant Heracles which is one of my favourites, referring to the old industrial power of my homeland. My first dedicated combat build is a Crusader, Green Howard after the area’s local army regiment, but that one hasn’t really sparked my fire so to speak. But my proudest ones are the long range DBX Juninho Paulista, so named for the greatest player I’ve ever seen in local football colours, and my forthcoming possibly-a-Mamba heavy fighter build which shall be named the Viduka in honour of the second greatest Australian hero since Ned Kelly.

Dolphin - Ecco.
Asp X - Cleo.
Phantom - The Millennium Pancake.
Cutter - Mid Life Crisis - because it wouldn't let me call it [male appendage] extension.
Beluga - Bengaluga - because it has the orange and black flame livery and someone said it looked like a tiger.
Courier - Fedex.
DBX - Jiminy - because someone said it looked like a grasshopper or a cricket.
Corvette - specially engineered for burning station rescues, runs very cold - Ferrari Fridge.
