Hey i have a idea, lets give the fastest ship in the game the biggest shield possible. And then lets make Reboot instantly replenish 50% shields because that makes so much sense, that cant possibly be abused in any way right? - Some FD Employee Who Sucks at Playing Elite #gamedesign101 #5/7

To gain rep with a pirate faction you must do piracy. Once you obtaint friendly status with said faction you are still interdicted and shot at by said pirate faction. - Logic

I think its a good feature to have that if you ever have cargo at all you will be interdicted 80% of the time no matter what. Such an amazing feature, even if the Commodities only add up to 5k credits. Its also nice they dont even need to scan, they just know whats in the hold. - Brilliant Game Design

Being hounded by Bounty hunters is also amazing, even when they also dont need to use a K-Warrant scanners. Even when im in a system im not wanted in, they KNOW what ive done.... somehow, even though its impossible to do a K-Scan in SC. They just know that my 10k credit bounty is completely worth trying to kill me over when im in a Conda and the NPC hunter is risking his Python or FAS over it. - Logic

Lets make the most social anti social game possible by delaying ingame squads and chat functions only to release at a later date in a broken shell of itself. And when people actually wing up they PROFIT LESS FOR COMBAT, brilliant right? They also cant share mission rewards or accept a mission as a wing, or even choose how proceeds are split. Lets bring in crafting and force the use of a commodity WHICH CAN BE TRADED between players, but explicitly state "We do not want a player driven economy for reasons we dont understand" even though that is exactly what you just did. You use the same logic for why we cant store commodities. Do the people that work at FD only play Roller Coaster games (or even games in general) because the stuff everyone is asking for is nothing new in the world of gaming and MMOs.

Yes this a common thing (I have observed) when people develop a product they don't use themselves, but who could blame them. Working all day developing a game, I'm pretty sure they're sick and tired of it and do NOT want anything more to do with after work.

I wonder if passionate leadership is what's missing or if it's something else..

Sure, so long as you concede not everyone shares your vision of what they'd like Elite to become. What is "something"? Everyone has their own version of it.

Well, let's start out by making the game be Client/Server rather than P2P...oh wait...that ship sailed before they got rid of offline mode....well how about fixing...oh wait..P2P can't support...well how about....darn P2P doesn't allow that either...

Hmmm...well maybe a real economy...oh wait...that is something that is based on the server design...which was set in stone before the Client/Server question was answered.....

I dunno....maybe shutting down the whole game and a complete 5 year redesign to make it into a 'Star Citizen-esque' MMO?
 
Just a tip, your opinions (note opinions) are gonna be taken with a lot more acceptance if you maybe use a more conciliatory tone?

IE, "Things I think could be improved", rather than "Your game is fundamentally broken", because honestly, this reads like whinging...

Star Citizen? You mean that game which is now several years behind schedule, & whose graphics & gameplay will probably be obsolete on release? Or maybe you're referring to getting the player base to pay US$100 for JPEGs of ships? Yeah, no thanks. FDev aren't perfect, but I much prefer their approach to the money sucking approach of SC.

Seems to me that they need to hire in house play testers that don't develop the game and get feedback from them.

Its been done plenty of times with other games, stands to good reason that it would work here.
 
Fair points, I never did like the clairvoyant enemy abilities. Still enjoy the game though, and live in hope it will get better.

I am kinda tired of this forum as we have so many loud motuhs, who think they are gods gift to game design, screaming everything is broken becuase people dont do what THEY want.

We have Two classes

One type that screams at FDev for being idiots for NOT listening to the Players, they should just listen only to the OP who is clearly a design deisgn prodgey
