Your least enjoyable Elite activity?

They didn't make you do it.

Have you read the thread title Stigbob? ;) You seem to be missing the point of the topic, or trolling as usual.

I find Chaff a bit annoying. I know how to deal with it, I don't need advice, it's just my subjective opinion.

Over the weekend I have been heavily involved in three BGS wars, all for system control of their respective systems. Fighting in them was grindy, hard work, two are won one is probably going to be lost. That will be a shame, and not what I would describe as 'fun' but it is satisfying to face a challenge and win or lose, give it my best shot. The Chaff is an annoyingly gamey way to make it take longer to kill ships, and I have a lot of ships to kill.

That has nothing at all to do with what I posted.

It didn't depend on ship of choice. It was just unwinnable, except for the occasional outlier. It was universal consensus that it just wasn't worth trying and just submitting was the best way.

It was dependent on your frame rate due to the bug going on at the time, and yes, it lasted for a long time.
Some people found it super easy during that time, some people found it entirely impossible, due to different people having different frame rates.

I think it is an oversimplification, but it's rather pointless to argue about it. 🤷‍♂️. Games are made by people and played by people.

For me they are often a balancing act between the boring parts and good parts.

What possible purpose could there ever be for optional entertainment other than you enjoy doing it ?.

Basic grind - reward mechanism.

With normal gameplay it would've taken me ages to unlock a Corvette, but I wanted to fly it sooner than later. I accepted the fact that I will have to grind for the reward, so I did and got rewarded. If I didn't think the boring part was worth the reward I wanted, I obviously wouldn't have done it.

Pretty common in computer games, really. You kill the trash mobs and do the unimaginative side quests to wield the cool magic sword. Nobody forced you to do it, but there's no obvious reason why you should enjoy it.

Its more fun with an iron mace than making a dash at the god gear. My latest ship is a BH'ing DBS its not efficient at all, but its loads of fun.

Peer group pressuer.

I'd leave a group that tried to dictate my actions, its fun and I willingly jump in contributing to the effort or I don't bother and do my own thing.

You know how it is - always tempting to salt a positive thread, so I thought why not gather some salt separately in a proper container.

So my least enjoyable ED activity - no it's not engineers, I can just ignore them. Not really, but I do and that pits me against bulletsponged enemies in combat. Combat is my least enjoyable activity - I blame the powercreep for that. I used to do a lot of it before they notched up the NPC HP so much, but it simply didn't pay nor yield a fun experience anymore. Ships flying reverse as fast as they can fly / accelerate ahead adds in to the mix. My tolerance for nonsense is actually pretty big, but I just couldn't stomach the combat anymore.

So what's yours? Operating the FSS? Outfitting? Hitting "J" all the time? Alt-tabbing?

Mining. It just doesn't interest me.

Of course, if it wasn't required for certain engineer unlocks, I would never have gone mining to begin with, because I already knew it didn't interest me.

And once I got my engineer unlocks, I don't do it anymore. As such, this isn't really a complaint about mining; it's more a complaint about FD making me do something I had zero desire to do for Engineer unlocks.

To be honest, though, it's a pretty minor complaint. I love 99% of the game.

Also, I might suggest, if you aren't finding combat to be fun, it might be you're in the wrong ship. I once nearly quit the game out of frustration because I had gotten incredibly bored with combat. It turned out, the problem was my ship - I was flying a Vulture at the time, and I just find the Vulture to be incredibly boring to fly. I sold it and bought an Imperial Courier and suddenly combat was fun and exciting again. (I'm not saying, mind you, that the Vulture is a bad ship, it was just the wrong ship for me, and flying the right ship for me made a huge difference ). As a Mamba pilot recently posted on Reddit - fly the ship you love, not the ship you should.

It doesnt require groups to dictate gameplay. It is sufficient when you like to stick around.

You are of course free to play however you wish, like I said it's a pointless exercise to argue the issue - I merely tried to explain to you why people would do tasks that they don't directly enjoy in a game designed for entertainment.
