I've been wanting to apply one of those custom hud colours apps for a long time, but haven't done so in case it breaks something. I just wish the Fdevs would add the option to do it themselves...

I seem to remember that being requested a few years ago but nothing ever happened.
On the EDHM thing, I've tried quite a few theme "presets" and they've always worked. Just not all to my taste.
Thought I would see how far into the Maelstrom I could get.
The rest I'll enclose in "SPOILERS" for those who want to see for themselves, although it's only my escape I had time to grab screenshots of.

It's a cool place to visit, and a challenge to get out of alive. And Thargoid interdictions from supercruise may just be impossible to evade.
And they learned a few tricks from HIP 22460. Guardian tech degraded to 0% health in seconds.

Sounds when gliding down to a planet have changed a little - the ship feels more "strained" as it were...
In my experience, in this game, windfall opportunities come along now and then. When they do, sometimes they last a while, and sometimes they don't.
The Void Opals and Low Temp Diamonds thing lasted a long time. Over a year, I think. Many months, anyway.
Other stuff like Skimmer Missions got nerfed quickly.
Currently we have an Exobiology windfall in place. It may last a while, or disappear soon, so I decided to take advantage of it a bit while I can.
Spent the morning scanning stuffs in and near the bubble (known stuffs that have been uploaded to EDDN already, which means they are searchable). Obviously I get no first logged bonuses, but I can jump from planet to planet knowing that it will have something good on it.
There were moments of beauty.
Most of the planets were very mundane, though, and one was very glitched with moving terrain and broken textures. I never did find the bio on that planet, it was too hard to see anything.
And I saw an old friend:
I jumped a rank, up to Geneticist, and made a decent sum of money for my efforts
Not a bad way to spend the morning

Yeah, same. I don't know why, but as much as I'm weary of so much orange, I keep going back to it since the preset themes just seem out of place somehow.
If they could somehow just implement it in-game, so that each manufacturer had their own subtle cockpit look instead of the EXACT same hud and controls, it'd go a long way for me. Leave Faulcon Delacy as orange, make SK white, Gutamaya light cyan, Lakon ships green, Core Dynamics red, etc.

They just gave everyone elite V in biology, maybe you guys can make a new utube video on it, a new road to riches video, scanning in the bubble, no need to go in the black. At least I know I did it the old fashioned way (what a kick in the teeth).

Logged into Horizons 3.8 and set the fleet carrier to jump to what has been Quain's home system in the game for more than a year.
Then I hit the decommission button. Don't know why, just felt like that ghost of the past needed lying to rest, and its better a defunct fleet carrier does not stay in the old game for however long some 2.8 billion credits would have kept it going.

That's what you get from being nosy. Landed at one of the Thargoid controlled settlements and went for a walk, just to hear my ship being shot at by a Thargoid someship. Next, it just blew up, leaving me stranded on the planet until i ran out of oxygen.Something new!

Yeah, it's the same as everything in the game, pay just keeps going up. I can make many times more money trading, mining, combat...all of it has become better paid.
I think they may have overdone it a bit on the Exobiology. Maybe the ranks should have been adjusted, too. Oh well. I'm just gonna enjoy it while it lasts.

Yes, I tried dialing an Apex, but any destination was greyed out. I didn't find the "Reset to Orbit" command before suffocating, but the rebuy on the Eagle was dirt cheap.
I wanted to go and study the Thargoid Bubble, so I took my racing Eagle, being able to outrun them. That didn't work once I had landed, but otherwise worked just fine. Next up will be trying a cold running ship. I read somewhere that running silent doesn't work well, but I'll give that a go as well. I know how to build a cold ship, but the coldest one I have is an exploration Mamba.
Does anyone have good input on which ship should be able to run coldest? DBX, DBS, Dolphin...? Thanks in advance.

I've heard the Dolphin runs very cool, but I haven't investigated it.
What I don't understand is why did they screw everything else up? Gomez said they totally trashed (nerfed) mining, they reworked exploration, I've found 5 ELW's in the last 10,000 Ly when it was 10-12 and even less Ammonia worlds and commanders are complaining about ranking in combat too. It would seem they take away from everything else and give it to one group, why not a CG offering high pay and highly engineered AX weapons. I just don't like their implementation.
