Update 14, nowhere near enough.

It's simple. Lack of content. Thing that is plaguing ED and will be, forever unless miracle happens and Fdev steps up their game. ED has a massive potential that would eat Star Citizen like no business, all that it takes is to harness it and profit. It doesn't take a genius to know that better the game is, more buyers flock, and with them more money - see GTAV, part of its success is being in a good brand, sure, but much greater part is how well the game is made - even now, after 8 years and seeing everything there, you still install it from time to time because it's just so well done, and new content keeps coming regularly. Back to ED's case - waiting for so long, we got nothing new. With this work ethic, if I was your average boss - you'd get fired on the spot if you brought me "this" as a result of your work. You want your game to be on top? Then move your butts. I've been gaming since first Elite: Frontier saw light (actually sooner, my first Elites were the ones on Amiga), and I can tell when something has potential - ED has, all it takes is to work for it. What we have now, the Ubisoft way of doing things (repeat 1 thing ad nausea and call it gameplay), that is wrong. Who gives a duck's about "storyline" if it means all we'll do is combat goids for next 6 months.

Meanwhile in the EDO Universe some of us are loving it (y)

Would you say that the writers don't dare add new unique content to the game? It will be harder on the content artists, but I guess that is what they're here for.
Or is it a more game mechanical type of content you want added? Just keep make a wish (within reason) and it just might get to the DEVS.

I like the community, they are doing a terrific job adding RP content. All these huge macro storylines are just a foundation. The real story is within you.

Ah, they joy of starting all over with nothing and grinding back up. Change game, same thing, but a new experience. With Elite Dangerous: Odyssey: Aftermath: War it is about everything all at once. It is such a huge thing, it needs time to gain momentum in any direction. But that which has the most impact would be the addition of little unique storytelling projects within the game. Writers are always in demand. Good ones.

A goal, and a thousand ways to screw it up for the main characters on the way. Forcing players to start with nothing. Razing the bubble just to experience the joy of building it back up in your image. Blazing your own trail. Asking the Well of Wishes (DEVS) for boons, bones, and an occasional road to riches.

The opportunities are endless. If endless gameplay isn't your style, then maybe a narrative gameplay experience is the better choice. Perhaps we could have a storytelling module added to Elite, where external writers can design their own adventures? Or just Role Play, use the Power Play to your advantage.

And that's the problem you missed off 'In my opinion'
What you do in your spare time is your business but some folks actually think its a really good game now heading in the right direction 🤘

While steam's reviews are not an exact show, over the years you know you can rely on them in this way:
Extremely positive - extraordinary game you must have
Very positive - average game
Mostly positive - around 6/10 game

Only some folks might think it's heading right way, most don't.

I'm not against the storyline, of course not. The gameplay is the sore spot of ED. Mechanical type of content is what's missing. I will not be adding any more ideas since I'm sorely dissapointed with community's attitude here (flow of fanbois defending the game's bad designs even when you dare to add a tiny QoL thing that wouldn't even be felt), but suggestion forums are full of them. Space wise - more ships, even pilotable cruisers, legs wise - boarding ships (even if you lock it to cruiser ships), exploring space wrecks, ground wrecks, leaving your ship to do small repairs in space, ground goid fights, imagination runs wild.

And that's the problem. No matter how much you circle jerk and call a weak game wonderful, it will still be a weak game.
I don't mind being critical towards Fdev. Many times I have been called a Dooomer, and this game surely has a lot of unused potential. However, calling it a weak game is false. Trust me, if there were anything better, you wouldn't find me here. The same goes for you ;)

Another Gem, keep going our kid me bingo card is nearly there! :ROFLMAO:

You can make a donkey out of yourself as much as you want, but you don't get why people criticise this game. We're on a same boat. We hold the game dear in our hearts (I personally hold dear the whole franchise because I grew up with it) and we want it better. And not just better, we want it best. And right now it's everything but that. You might love it as it is, but most want it better. We'd all profit from it, we'd all have loads more fun and enjoy it even moar, so why stand against it? We're on common grounds here, all of us.

The recent reviews are mostly positive: 70% in the last 30 days. So there's a big improvement compared to the early release months.

Recent might be, people tend to write reviews after playing for couple of hours, which is usually not enough time to see the game through and through. I myself left a positive review also, after 200 or so hrs, stating that the game is mile wide and inch deep, but you'll keep coming to it anyway (which is how it is). I don't recall early release as I wasn't playing by that time, but I think I saw it around "mixed", and that's real bad in terms of steam, however it might be just my memory acting up.

Actually, I think that FDev have played an absolute blinder here, not only have they stepped up several gears, but they have altered the narrative completely.

Those of us who have been around for the longest time, already know that the limitations to what can be done in game, have plagued Fdev since the start, all the way back at #FX2017, their was talk that every update could potentially break the game, and that the limits of the engine had been reached with the launch of Horizons, just look where we are now though, Now I am NOT a fan of Oddysey at all, but having bought the add on, have realised the potential of it, and now, with this new direction of actually engaging with the Thargoids in what seems to be, many different ways of game play, I see the bigger picture.....

My only concern really, is that Fdev lose interest in about 18 months with this new narrative, and to that i say this, if the numbers (player base) do not add up, then we, as a community, have to accept that the game has run its course, after all, i see that Frontier ARE trying something different here, and I whole heartedly applaud them, and thank them, because they have given ME personally, the best Space sim I have ever played, FOR THE LONGEST TIME!

Say what you will, But Elite is still the best there is.

Given the fact that there isn't anything more (unless you count always alpha, never coming out SC) that's not a great achievement  I love the space legs though. Since playing Frontier and later on Freelancer (which comes from SC's creator actually), I always dreamt of walking, shooting, doing stuff outside of ship. However in ED it fell flat pretty soon, having same grind as space stuff.. And unless they do something big in terms of gameplay, the game will decline and run its course, as you say. That's also a reason to hit devs with some criticism, I don't want to see my fav game go.
