Spring dlc Speculation 2023

Would birds of prey not be limited to owls and the like, I can't imagine an eagle walkthrough aviary
It's a foggy memory but I think San Diego Zoo used to have walkthrough bird of prey aviaries, did they not? I remember wandering through a canyon-themed aviary and seeing some kind of hooked-beak predator looking down from the rocks. I don't think birds of prey are any more dangerous than any other bird anyway.

I mean, parrots are more liable to cause you random bodily harm and they're walkthrough animals all the time. The kea in the aviaries in NZ zoos frequently land on visitors and try to steal things, like jewellery, sunglasses, even cellphones.

Edit: That said I hope the walkthrough exhibit isn't the only version of itself we get. I'd still like a few varieties of aviary so they don't all look same-y.

Well I'm not versed in the history of San Diego too much but rather the current collection since my expertise lies there. The birds of prey are all in enclosed avairies - eagles, condors, vultures etc. The walkthrough avairies seem to hold your standard tropical birds but yeah I remember how fussy the pelicans are at the Edinburgh zoo, so much I don't dare go through the walkthrough these days after a dramatic experience a few years back

My personal hope that has a decent possibility of coming true would be an Islands Pack with Tasmanian devil, North Island brown kiwi, fossa and a tree kangaroo alongside a Polynesian-esque scenery set. Maybe they could even have a selection of Malesian/Melanesian lorikeet or lory species as the walkthrough exhibit animals in a similiar manner to the butterflies?

Totally agree. Islands is my guess.

That’s be my perfect pack (with a Polynesian theme and a bird from Hawaii maybe?) but I don’t think there’s much chance of getting 3/4 animals from Oceania… 2/4, maybe.
Yeah there's so much diversity to islands , 3/4 of the pack seems way out of balance, that being said though conservation got 3/4 in Asia

Twilight Pack moment.

As I’ve said before I think Oceania being overrepresented in an Islands Pack is fine given it’s literally a region defined by islands, but I agree that expecting more than 2 species may be a bit unrealistic. Devil and kiwi would be my two choice picks, with the tree kangaroo hopefully coming later in some sort of rainforest/tropical/arboreal pack.

My thoughts exactly.

Once I wouldn't guess at any upcoming pack having anything relating to birds, but this one...

and it feels wrong to talk about this now

I think that the next update is a big one, so big that they switched up the 'pattern' for the last two DLCs, and that the newest one is a little light, and it had to come out in the Spring. So what scenery pack could it be? Easter weekend is 7th-10th April.

Easter will used for the decoration for the dlc pack only. The update may introduce eggs, nesting behaviors, parenting behaviours, and aviaries etc, that will remain empty unless you buy the DLC (no mooching).
The pack itself one flying bird will be snuck in to use these features with a more dedicated bird pack in the summer.

Potential roster. I guess it depends on how aviaries will work and how do you select one aviary bird from a pool of thousands

  • Kiwi - star animal i think, standing next to an egg and hovering above in the background is the
  • Golden Eagle - the chosen aviary chum and nominated predator representative
  • Volcano Rabbit - spring connection
  • Mountain Goat - because of new parenting behaviour and they have kids...
  • Tortoise / Turtle - because they also lay eggs

Now that's an interesting idea, I didn't think of actual possible egg mechanics but at this point anything is possible

not that it needs to be much thinking about it since a parent would be covering them most if the time during incubation (instead of pregnancy)
nests could be enrichment items - 'small nest', 'large nest' 'nesting tree' 'nesting hole' etc

If we're assuming that the pattern switch continues and spring is a scenery pack, my guess would be

Children's Zoo
...
EX - Bearded dragon or green tree boa
Bearded dragon definitely between those two. Green tree boas and emerald tree pythons aren't very handleable, and children's zoos are all about interactivity. Unless you want to educate the kids on snake bites the species is not a good fit.

After getting Christmas and Halloween based theme sets, I could definitley see an Easter theme coming, maybe together with some farm/petting zoo animals, of which I would expect the following animals:
  • a rabbit breed (I would absolutely love if it would be a wild European rabbit, but that doesn't seem to be very likely)
  • Silkie chicken
  • Highland cattle
  • Pygmy goat/sheep breed
But I have absolutely no clue what to put for the exhibit species. More butterfly species would be a possibility, but I'm not too sure on that. Budgeriars would also be a possibility.

And I'm not expecting any more birds pack, sadly, but on the other hand, I really can't understand why they didn't include the secretary bird or the red-legged seriema, as they would have fitted so good into this grasslands roster.
An Islands pack would fit better as an animal pack, as I would really dislike props of a fossa in a Polynesian art style, but who knows, it wouldn't be the first time something like this happens.

Yeah now we got halloween and christmas set pieces, easter pieces could be the next step.
Also now we talk about the release, seeing these years in all frontier games, we can expect the dlc a week before easter.
Take a look in the past:
2019: Planco and JWE1 got dlcs around the week of easter 2019, 21th april
2020: PZ released south america dlc the same week of easter 2020
2021: SEA animal pack was released the same week of easter 2021
2022: Wetlands dlc was released again for a third time the same week of easter
So next year dlc will be around 4th april.
