Silent mode, as expected. Most probably they'll fix it in the background one way or the other. Expect your rank demotion to stick. How deep you fall may vary.

seemingly, this has been dropped from FDev radar. So frustrating for those of us who put in so many hours ranking up just to lose it. Perhaps I can craft the message that FDev can provide us to get some closure. (THE FOLLOW IS NOT FROM FDEV)

Something like that would at least allow us to move on....

hang on are you saying that players who ranked up with the old system before the pay buff and error on the rank increase have been bounced back to lower than they should be ? ie they lost their legitimate rank? if so that is bad and a poor show FD are not hitting that head on.
or are you unhappy you have had your rank put back that you gained in error on the post buff but pre rank scale fix?
if so I don't think you have anything to be worried about as you gained rank incorrectly and FD have just fixed an error.
You know that you can post a bug report through in-game menu, don't you? It is were options, exit the game, etc. Unless your bug does not allow you to enter the game.
This is what at least 2 users have reported to have happened to them. Legitimate rank demotion, plain and simple.
I wouldn't say dropped, they are just mostly done with work for this year. I assume starting next week Frontier Towers will be mostly empty for about a month. We got a post yesterday that basically said "we know about these issues, no point in asking now, see you in January".
My guess is we'll hear more on this from Frontier mid January and could see results end of January/early February.

Sure, this can probably be fixed behind the scenes, server side, so you are not actually demoted and you keep your rank, but you dont see any progress bar moving past 0% unless you exceed the new threshold for your current rank. Which, for Geneticist, it may be around 3-4 billions
I support this suggestion. It is ok to have your rank "frozen" till you collect enough points to progress further. It will be painful to see you go from Elite to Collector when you cross the threshold. If the rank progress is reset down when you acquire more samples, it may lead to some players just forget about exobiology at least in the current state.yes, 2 players have reported to be demoted.

Currently it is all about nose-down flying at low altitude looking for the right sample - boring. There are no good tools for this type of job. On-foot - the scanner is ok but the radius is too small - I tested it extensively and it gives only sound clues when you already have visual indications (perhaps I have a reasonably good video card). Baggy is not a good option, at all. There is no indication, cannot traverse canyons, moving animation is painful (really for some, I am getting motion sick after just a few minutes). Please make a special hovercraft with long range bioscanner and exobio will be a joy rather than boring duty to get ranks. Also mini-game at Vista Genome to analyze the samples.
Here's my timeline to try and help explain.
09-NOV [Rank: Geneticist --> Elite (11%) ]
I hit Elite ExoB, and sell data such that I have total of Cr465m sold including first-finder bonus (~11% towards Elite I).
I carry on collecting ExoB Data....
29-NOV [Rank: Elite (11%) --> Elite V]
Update 14 drops.
I am carrying Cr92m of ExoB at the pre-14 values including first-finder bonus . This is equivalent of ~42% rank gain from Elite to Elite I.
I sell the lot, and screen says Cr5,781m. I ridiculously hit Elite V - which I don't agree with, the rank requirements need to scale with the payout increases.
There is a bug that means I didn't get all that money, but a raised ticket eventually resolved that.
I go out again for a few hours and pull in another Cr887m. Seems incredible.

I sell another Cr1,566m of data. Happy days.
11-DEC [Rank: Elite V --> Geneticist (17%) ]
I'm demoted to Geneticist with 17% rank gained.
I've calculated that in old money I should be Elite (67%).
All my data in old money is valued at Cr588m [Elite 67%], but in old money my rank is now the equivalent of Cr254m [Geneticist 17%] - I've lost 57% of my ExoB progress. I started in April and haven't done much else in-game. So that's 4-5 months of steady progress deleted.
Doesn't feel good.
Things to do:
1) Lobby FDEV to ask that demotion is fixed - and not just cosmetically, but actually fixed so that pre-14 ranks are restored.
2)Calculate how much data in old money I have and where I should be in the rank - DONE I would be at Elite (67%) - (NOT GENETECIST 17%!!)
3) Calculate hybrid of old data values + new data values to see where I should be if the U14 value changes only count on data handed in after U14 drops. (need ranking values)

On 20.11.2022 (before U14) I sold samples to VG which gave me the rank of Geneticist with 18% progress. On 29.11.2022 afternoon (after U14 and after I returned from Hawkings Gap) i sold samples to VG so I became rank Elite II with 48% progress (IMO much to high, just Elite had been fine for me, cause even without the raise of payouts I would have come close to Elite). On Wednesday 07.12.2022 my progress was set to 0% but still got my rank of Elite II. On 09.12.2022 I received an ingame message by pilots federation that i was "promoted" to rank Cataloguer, without selling anything to VG since 29th. Now I'm Cataloguer with 80% progress. Well done. What about the time I spent prior U14 (Bubble - Colonia - Beagle point - Bubble) over several month? I won't start all over again.

I believe that was their intention - or at least thats what Sally implied in her messages on the matter here on the forums
But for some commanders that was not what they experienced
this seems to be the effect of a server side change, probably the change wasnt intended to demote you, but that's exactly what it did to you
The message I heard on the livestream was that update 14 issues are going to be looked at in the new year - no discussion on which issues. Elsewhere, in response to me sharing my timeline post earlier in this thread over on twitter, I’ve been advised by fdev support there to raise a ticket which hardly seems correct but maybe I’ll do that. All in all I think it’s time to put it on the back burner over the holiday period and come back to it in January as nothing is going to happen before then. Comfy socks on and enjoy the break. O7

They don't care - they are just sitting back and enjoying their 'goid assault on the player base, having a "jolly festive time" whist the large-scale destruction of months (or years) of PG and BGS efforts got wiped out at a stroke. They looked so smug and self-satisfied on the livestream and were positively salivating over the new stuff they are going to unleash in the new year. I was expecting to hear "you ain't seen nothin' yet" at any time.
We mean nothing to them, just cannon fodder.
