Spring dlc Speculation 2023

May i genuinly ask, do people even try to use the new scenery pieces?
Because while i understand wanting more animals, when you actually use that stuff it feels amazing and very fun.
Not everyone is a builder. I like building neat stuff, but I could never shake of the feeling that building is meaningless. There is no ingame mechanism rewarding you for building, and in general I like realistic and naturalistic zoos. I play mostly for the animsls.

So most new themes don't have a lot of use for me, but I do try to use them.

Some of them, yes, but a lot of them are effectively useless to casual builders. Some of the wall pieces and textures only look good with embellishment, and adding embellishment can be extremely time-consuming and finnicky for those of us who don't have even an hour a day to dedicate to playing but still want to get stuff done. The rustic wall set in the Europe Pack is nice and all, but using just that on a building makes it look like a single stone block. I couldn't tell you what other pieces came with the Europe Pack.

Edit: I'm also kind of flabbergasted as to how you decided "people aren't excited about building pieces" means "people just don't use them properly".

do people even try to use the new scenery pieces
Well yeah of course. I have used almost every single piece in the game utilising them for many projects.Every dlc wall I use in every single zoo I build - Why? Well I'm a builder where a 1 thousand piece building is completely normal even though I streamline piececounts. Of course not everyone is a builder, but why should we deny them the right to a bigger library of objects in a creative sandbox game
  • European stone walls - great for rustic staircases, woodland walls, just generally any rough stone wall. It works way better than the base game one
  • Twilight mason walls - fills the niche where I want a more gothic styled stone wall - very useful for older European projects and even flower beds
  • Twilight roofs - works as a modern replacement for the arctic roofs where I want a slated roof. Even works really well for America Midwest theming like Cincinnati zoo. Not a huge fan of the gothic styled tall roof tops but still can find some uses eventually
I disregard fantasy themed pieces lke much of the twilight pieces but the construction pieces like walls and roofs are wonderful to have. The only addition that left a sour taste in my mouth was the 3d printed walls from the conservation pack, however I have used these for desert buildings which work well when combined with rocks. One of the most useful construction additions recently was the conservation slat boards - I have countless uses for slats

I should edit my profile pic to have a construction hat on at this rate 🤣

So frontier confirms more time that more stuff will appear

Many many people consider it boring.
Many many people love it.

I don’t like the signs or stained glass windows for example but the animals and many building pieces have become staples in my zoos.

On another note, I wish we could “mute” certain pieces, also blueprints - the in-game blue prints are of no interest to me whatsoever and it would be great if I could remove them from my menus.

For me scenery and building pieces are very important so I would definitely like more scenery packs. The pieces let me be creative and make so many styles possible. Sure, Building is time consuming so I get that not all players are that fond of them. But I find recreating buildings I like a lot and that look realistic, really makes a zoo feel personal, something you are attached to.

I don't use all the building pieces. I tend to use basic pieces and theme the zoo around them.

For example, while I rarely use the animals from the Europe pack, I love the rustic pieces. They're perfect for a zoo set in the Caribbean.
For a low budget NA zoo, I like the log pieces and the bamboo.
For a mid-high budget NA zoo, New World theme.

I don't use fantasy pieces, though, or specialized themes, like that North Africa theme from the Africa pack

As someone who every piece we get just finds millions of ways to use it, so in my opinion more scenery is always heartwarming for me. As someone who can build a wall in a day, and every habitat I build takes me a week+ because I really concentrate on details, so for me new pieces are always all too well (10 mins version HAHAA :ROFLMAO:) ! I always think that more scenery is better.
but also let's don't forget that it is a zoo sim, and what zoo means? animals. so I totally here for more Animal Packs BUT! also for Scenery Packs because this I loved the way that frontier did that once Scenery Pack, then Animal Pack and like that I really liked it. and I hope frontier will continue with it!
also most of the times scenery packs doing really good with animal rosters like, Africa Pack, Conservation Pack and like that... even though NAAP and Grasslands Animal Pack they did fantastic with the animal rosters. so for me I don't really mind if it's scenery pack or animal pack! for me, just give me more content!! lol

Agree! I think the pattern of Scenery/animal/scenery is pretty good for now :)

So what I am taking from the last 3-4 pages of replies in this thread is confirmation of what we already knew - there is a spectrum of players with builders on one end who primarily use the game as a creative building sim and animal managers and breeders / zoo sim players at the other with everybody falling somewhere on that spectrum. This tends to translate into different preferences for animal or scenery packs. Personal conclusion - Frontier should continue to alternate in order to please both communities as much as possible.

For fun we could introduce another axis with caring about guests or not on it - I actually like things that impact the guests experience and happiness because as well as the animals and the scenery I actually like the challenges of building a zoo that works really well for them but I think that might just complicate things ;)

In theory this would've been the players interested in the management aspect bit that's a very very weak aspect of the game.

Agreed, and the last few DLCs have added a few things, from the interactive objects to the restaurants to the zoo tours.

The guests handling butterflies is a nice touch, and I'm hoping that it paves the way for future interactions between guests and animals, like feeding stations and/or petting zoos

I have a very curious question: Which animal is: your favourite from the game, would love to be introduced to the game, which one you would delete from the game and which animal you don´t want to come to the game, and 2 you would do a remaster? I´m sure everyone has a favourite or less favourite animals in real life and in the game, for make time until the next update comes 😄

For me would be:
Favourite Animal in the game:
Giant Otter

Favourite to be introduced in the game:
Greater Rhea

Delete from the game:
Himalayan Brown Bear

Don´t want to come to the game:
Raccoon dog

2 Remasters:
Malayan Tapir and Lion (we seriously need a remaster of this 2)
Interesting question. Would this be better in a thread of its own?
