Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

Well. That does then suggest the Thargoids have a fixed amount of resources to spend that is not bolstered by the number of Maelstroms. That has the effect then of cranking the level of effort required as we (maybe) drive off or eliminate a maelstrom. The defense would become more tenacious as the vise closes. That’s interesting.

Great to hear! It can be done; if enough Commanders are pointed in its direction, their time is welcomed most gratefully. That said—

This makes me hesitate to ask that Commanders give their time prior to that change, even at the expense of not taking Muruidooges for now. Please be sure that anyone giving their time this evening is aware of the change, happy to continue regardless of the outcome, and thanked appropriately!
My “finger in the air” guess is… Fdev know how hard this is going to be. Some systems that are in the early stages of invasion offer multiple ways to help the effort, indeed ones where there are large landing pads even allow the Cutter and T9 haulers to have a big effect. However the invaded systems have just one objective and that is fight Thargoids. But there are no CZs so getting cooperation between commanders is harder. I know there is a thread where an expert AXI pilot just went and fought in their own and killed an amazing number of Scouts and Interceptors (Ranging from Cyclops to Hydra). With this huge effort I read he/her moved the needle by 2% so 50 of him/her needed per system is pretty tough.

I attribute that to the first week was chaos as people were exploring and unorganized.
The second week, we became more organized.
Not only that.
People need some time to build their ships to hauler/passenger ready for thargoid interdiction event, several others for ax combat and started to learn, experiment with new ax weapons, etc...

But the change this week has been really notorious, yes.

Victory in Ildano, and Muruidooges (76%) will be close but is just about on course for completion. Quite admirably, we have HIP 20890, Ulche, Fotlandjera, Col 285 Sector WY-F b12-3 and HIP 20419 joining the fight!

As stated in Thargoid War Rebalancing, next cycle it will become easier to complete a system. If all goes well, hopefully this will disrupt the notion of tracking their progress due to the overwhelming amount of agency Commanders will have. Between the growing number of involved systems and the Christmas holiday season, I would be very happy if there were no longer such an importance associated with trying to ensure that Commanders are rallied—but we shall see!

Top targets at 21:20 21st December 3308:
Muruidooges Invasion + 4 ports – 76%
Obamumbo Invasion + 1 port – 46%
HIP 20527 Alert – 34%
HIP 8525 Invasion + 3 ports – 30%
HIP 23716 Recovery – 22%

Sweet my fc will be jumping to Vogulu shortly hopefully we can pull it off getting close to the tick though. Dont worry about what you said earlier in regards to the changes coming as long as we can help people hang onto their systems most are likely happy to help. o7

These updates and targeted systems are very useful - thanks. Saves me trying to guess which system to find the largest collection of other commanders.
Had tremendous fun at the Marriott in Muruidooges this evening. Plenty of commanders, and the sun casting light over the atmospheric planet surface. Looked great.

Sadly 3 invisible interceptors and 1 scout stuck in the ground but still make over 100 million blowing up the stream of interceptors appearing. Great!

Victory in Muridooges congrats everyone. Just went to pick up more evacuees but it's already won o7
Edit nvm it's close we thought it was

Indeed; remember the interface difference!

Muruidooges is at 98% for me, and I am running the evacuation Imperial Clipper until it completes!

Yeah a few people got happy and started posting we won in system chat lol I'll leave it to the professionals aka you to announce. Ran a few hundred evacuee missions this evening glad we pulled it off. o7

And not to jump the ball but it shows control prevented now so I think its official. Just ran 19 missions as soon as you get a target for the next tick holler ty again for helping us coordinate stuff.

Victory in Muruidooges! This one was close, just a few hours remaining. Thank you to everyone involved, and very well done!

It is a bit late now, and I imagine the next cycle will commence with a good amount of progress across multiple Maelstroms before I get a chance to review the map. I will take a quick total now for examination later, then get some rest!

Seems way too easy now tbh.
We're like losing to a hundred systems per week, and winning a few back seems too easy?
Lets roll a few more weeks and keep thinking we're winning.
Making it sound like all those uncountable individual cmdr's that dedicated to the frontline seems like a joke to you, it's the whole ED community pushing thargoids back, not just a single cmdr or a few or a group.
Even if putting AXI at full momentum, I doubt they themselves are enough to push back even one maelstrom's invasion.

Some interesting things from the start of cycle for Recovery systems:
- HIP 23716's progress has not reset (Thargoids can't send reinforcements on their turn to steal materials?)
- At Hadad, Muruidooges - which was defended in its first week of invasion - has a single week of Recovery which has auto-completed (100%). All other new Recovery systems have some damaged stations, and regardless of station count have a 4 week cycle.

Good job everyone. While yes, it seems to be easy, recall that this is mostly around 1 maelstrom of 8. How many of the others expanded while we put forth all of our effort toward the one (and a bit of a second). I'm not saying we split up, an 8 front war is not tenable.
Hopefully we see what happens if we take a controlled system.

I know we all couldn't wait for Update 14 to drop and dump all this activity on us but, uh, Christmas and New Year Holidays are coming up and many of us won't be around to assist with defending humanity for a number of days. Maybe FD should have waited until Tuesday Jan 3 next year to do this. Oh well, the war has already started.
