Elite Dangerous Exobiology Rank Threshold Rebalance Information

"I did a lot of exobio because I LIKE this gameloop (great bonus for exploration, looking for this all species usually generate great screens), not because "I have to complete everything".
Hellrider, that what you mentioned - the most important point is YOU LIKE IT. So you will get to Elite V if you like this activity.(sooner or later it does not really matter). You did not grind for the rank, you just did what you like. You will get much more money from this activity now (even if it is not your main concern, it is kind of good to get paid properly so you do not need to do activities that you do not like just to make money).

It's a game commanders play it as you want and disregard those that say you are wrong . You don't need those people they are just dead weights which are happy to drag you down to their level . I wish people would be less judgemental especially when they have no idea who or what you are .

It fits perfectly into category 1. As it has being confirmed by some commanders who do enjoy exobiology and got the most hit by the rank recalculation.
Players who made some progress prior to 14 in exobiology should get their pre-14 credits multiplied for rank calculation. It did not work immediately or perfectly but it should be dealt at case by case basis (I found FDev support being very helpful). My understanding is that it did not hit you particularly as you refer to other players.
Can you look at it at another angle?
Players were complaining rightfully that exobiology does not pay much. FDev heard that and decided to increase the payment multifold. Of course, they did not think through to adjust the credits acquired previously and change the ranking system. Mistakes happened.
What is important?
In a long term, players got a well enough paid activity.
There is a rank cap; everyone who likes the activity eventually will get to the cap.
What is the fuss about?
Are you trying to achieve that FDev before implementing any changes requested by players think twice or avoid even doing small changes?
So... everything is A-OK with this demotion stuff and all? Everybody complaining about it just sucks at life?
Hooray... for everything?

It makes sense that this applies to data sold after U14 but before the rank requirement was adjusted. But it's a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who put the effort in before the rank requirements changed. I don't think it was like this historically when other rank requirements were changed.

I don't know what the new rank requirements are but they've obviously been changed by a factor of X. Is it not possible to look at what CMDRs attainment was in exo just before U14 dropped and also increase that by a factor of X ?

At it's most extreme, someone at Elite IV and 1 credit away from Elite V before U14 will now effectively probably not even be at Elite in the new system, and more and less has to do everything again to get that last attainment to Elite V. Yes, it will say Elite IV - but behind the scenes they're not because their credits were earned pre-U14, and barely register on the new scale and they'll be showing 0% for ages to come

(This is still better than not changing the rank requirements, but I think it'll annoy a lot of people who worked on Exo pre-U14)
That's the point, fully agree. This is not a place to make demands(..?), but if FDEV don't change this, it would be a great SHAME. Pre-U14 progress MUST be adapted to the new tiers. Not the money, only experience points.
Technical support cannot help, they suggested to write here, quote: "The development team keep a close eye on our forums here, where we advise players to leave their feedback and make suggestions regarding recent or upcoming changes to the game."
So my "suggestion": give us back our lost progress immediately.

That's not a great response, but it answered the question :(

FDev Development team, I would much prefer the Elite rank showed my 'true' rank, not an inflated one as a placeholder. If that means I go backwards so be it. I'm only interested in my own rank, if others prefer to keep the inflated rank that's fine by me.

A thing to keep in mind is that not everyone had managed to achieve an inflated rank, I myself had reached Taxonomist before U14 dropped and had only added 30% or so to my progress through that rank when U14.01 changed the goalposts. So to my mind my true rank is Taxonomist I am not interested in my rank being nerfed as a result of what seems to be a case of not thinking things through.

What I will do is probably carry on much as I did before U14 until my finds should be enough for midway through Taxonomist before selling, and of course hope (vainly) for a separation of rank from earnings.

Yes I've just carried on as normal too. Probably the only difference is that I was half way through Elite III before update 14 (and hadn't held any data back) & after selling some data gathered after update 14 but before 14.01 I jumped up to Elite V & so will never reach a point where my actual progress starts counting again.

If you are proud that you sank so many hours into the computer game rather than spent in the real life with your family/friends, I do apologize. The matter is not about language or geography, we are probably from different worlds.
In my world: what did you get from spending so many hours playing the game? How did it improve your real life? Do you know anyone in the real life who appreciates your triple elite status? Would you wear a t- with triple elite status all over it?
My friend lost his family because he played Elite a lot (I talked to his wife and Elite was the only reason: "too much time devoted to the game"). This was not ED but the first Elite. He was Legend in ranks but we, his friends, did not really care. We did play a bit but mostly studied, organized a profitable company (he decided not to join as he was busy with Elite), enjoyed the real life a lot. I am not proud to be Elite in some activities. There is no contradiction in what I wrote. I like Ecologist status purely because how it sounds/some meaning for me. In fact, I could do Elite (I expected that it would change on the server restart) but I decided to hang out with my wife that weekend and really enjoyed it (no regrets whatsoever not getting Elite in exobiology).
"Do you read and understand your own text" - if you explain what you meant, I can clarify for you. If it is about only the triple elite I explained above.
Once again, I do not consider triple elite a major achievement. Even playing every day a bit through all the years, a player eventually will get the status. My point is, it is not someone should be really proud of, at least in my world. Even in the game world, some (including myself) Elite players are not competent in the categories. I did my Elite in exploration by doing passenger missions (I did not want to get Elite, I was just making money for my FC). I do not know much about "out of the bubble" exploration (I just went to the black hole once).
[Triple Elite? It is actually shame to have the logo on your ship - it is like a mark telling "I am a looser and do not have a real life".]

Would it make you happier and not so sour if the Triple Elite decal would change into a Lifeless Looser decal?
Fact is, without knowing me or my personal situation and possible disabilities which may or may not have forced me to stop working, you called me a looser with no real life. I do take offense in that.

Cr1,383,247,000 = Geneticist 17%--> 48%

Works out as ~ Cr 4,462,000,000 to move from Geneticist to Elite

Just wondering..think it was 220m credits in old money so maybe a 20x multiplier?

1 383 247 000 Cr = Генетик 17% -> 48%

Выходит ~ 4 462 000 000 Cr, чтобы перейти от генетика к элите.

Просто интересно... думаю, это было 220 миллионов кредитов в старых деньгах, так что, может быть, множитель 20x?

FD replied that I was almost close to a geneticist. I looked through the Codex and saw for myself the profit in exobiology (3,892,139,610). The table is correct for the most part.

Oh, real life. That's the one where the graphics are fantastic but the gameplay really sucks, isn't it?

Можете ли вы указать источник этой таблицы? Это в посте разработчиков или сделано из данных, которые кто-то собрал?
This is a Russian wiki: https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/ru/wiki/Экзобиолог#Уникальные_роды
Based on the collected data. As I wrote above, FD confirmed my approach to genetics (frozen on elite 1). I checked this table and the collected biota in the Codex. For this it turns out that only a couple of tens of millions are needed for a geneticist. Up to the present rank in elite 1, 8+ billion data will have to be raised.

Thanks for that, the English version of that page is different. It's going with a 18x multiplier, it will be interesting which figure ends up being the correct one as a few have been thrown around.

Too low? That would only take about 3 months even at my slow pace.
No problem. Those that are already at a certain rank have to do the work twice now, so the grind doubled for them, anyway. I guess we should see it as a Christmas present to the early exo-biologists that they can now experience all the rank excitements a second time.

Having just returned from a long exobiology outing right before the payout increase, I can say for sure that there was no 'rank excitement' at all, it was soooo slow. I was quite sure I'd never reach Elite.

After the increase I did go out and scan a bunch of stuffs, and my rank went up to Elite I, which is something I thought I'd never see based on my previous progress.

I suppose I will get demoted next time I turn in some scan data, but I took a screenshot for posterity ;)

Maybe they'll tweak it again, so I'm kinda waiting until after the holidays to see what happens next.
