Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Aye, it wasn't worth much at all until a few weeks ago when Update 14 came in, but now it's a case of grabbing as much as you can before it gets nerfed!
They have addressed (after a fashion) the effect of the increased credits with U14.01 where they have changed the financial thresholds for the exobiology ranks.

With that dealt with it is just credits so no real need to nerf, and if they did it would make the confusion over ranks worse.

IMO, tritium is the downside to owning a carrier. The only reason I say this is that ming yields are too low to make it a completely self-sufficient platform.

Just my opinion of course!
Yep, still convinced the only sane way to acquire Tritium for long-haul exploration is by buying it - before with bounty hunting money, now more conveniently with Exo income… the yields still seem lowish even in pristine hotspots.

I was thinking the same. Being self sufficient in tritium out in the black means a brain melting amount of mining in icy rings. It's not for me. Tritium must be bought in advance for any trip.

OK so the ez/plentiful bacteria here should now pay for @least 100 Tritium (basically, a max range 500LY jump - or 5m for FC Pioneer Supplies for a week) - it's either this or core mining something to pay for it while away from inhabited systems... it would be still better to be able to mine it directly with less time commitment ofc ;]

I generally hop about or towards a destination system up to 500LY away, then jump my mobile home in for support when i discover something interesting - Wregoe / Wredguia are still interesting areas to explore, with some undiscovered places & biology, not too far from the core...

*Ah, the somewhat stern & officious woman at the desk seemed more generous than usual and almost smiled even...^

And it's's a bit of a faff buying it - even my 752t T9 has to make loads of trips to and from a station.

And gid anyone mention tritium from hold to depot? No, I won't carp on about that one again! :D
What I have been doing, is if I've been out in the Cutter for some reason, I'll fill up with tritium as I return to the carrier to change ship. It might take weeks of elapsed time, but its OK if only doing 2 to 3 big carriers journeys a year.

Salvaging the wrecks sites and the usual suspects appear. They don't last long thou.Got fined for shoot a ship that was bringing more Scav;s down.Uh hum i was defending my horded!!.
Seem to be finding a lot of palladium in there, while continuing the war in Dalia. We seem to be converting the scores to win win, instead of draw, loses.Well according to galnet anyway.

Payday a bit sparse thou:).got to admit unless i started looking for a deep richer person pocket to plunder.
13 million in credits for data scans so far , 7 million in the future for AX CG. plus the few drones and scavs. looking like a tidy sum.

my DBS is doing good. only bounce of groun in a high g world once so far.:)

Yes, after I'd found the second type, I skimmed around in the ship for a short while in case I came across any more types but without success, and as I had no idea if any more types were there I soon gave up and moved on!

FWIW, I've found up to 3 different types of brain trees in the same location.

Yeah, i've spent quite a while in Guardian space and there they're often growing on planets without atmosphere. The most i saw was also 3, seems rather rare, while 2 is quite common. It's fairly easy to scan them, as, firstly, if another variety is present, you spot it really fast - e. g. if you see a dozen of trees, they're going to be different. So not like with Ody bio - you hardly search for anything, you can see it from your ship even - if they're all red, or some green or violet grow in between them. And secondly, the distance required for the scans is very modest - it's somewhere around 200m, so you're good running on foot between them and scan. Nowadays they're paid 1,5m for a known variant, cheap, but they're very easy to spot. That's also true that heatmap only lists them as single signal, while some variants may exist. But again - if you see 10-20 trees and they're all same color, then that's the planet with only one color. They're indeed a nice source of raw mats, G2 always, G1-3-4 - if you lucky to find a right planet. All my raws basically come from there - it feels like gathering apples and i like it.

All that being said i don't know why Selenium grows in Polyporous Growth that is usually about G2 mats (and Selenium). Grey stone-like things on other two trees are for G3 (check planet composition - G3 stated there), yellow wingy flower on the left - G1. You may also see 55% shield left, but in most cases i saw those trees are peaceful and aren't attacking you even if you gather the fruits.

That's the thing that is for G4 (xcept Selenium). I have written down some planets as i checked bios while cheking Guardian ruins, but i later found this kind of intermittent. Like, on some planets, Phloem Excretion (that's the thing on that pic) can easilly be found on some of the trees, while on the others - you land again and you can only see the common Polyporous Growth. I don't have an explanation for that and can't be bothered to read guides, guess it's fine, that i know a good source of Ruthenium while for Tellurium i bookmarked smth, but i can not find it again. As evident from the pic, shield is on 100% - again, trees peaceful. They don't attack you.

Got a fairly easy kill of a Thargoid Interceptor Cyclops this morning. I have destroyed around 200 to 300 scouts with this weapon load out before trying a Cyclops.
It was all done FA on and you could do it with a joystick or any other controller you like.
I used my Krait MKII shieldless with lots of heatsinks firing at the same time as 3 large and one medium guardian shard cannon. 5 different fire groups, 4 for each heatsink launcher plus the shards so you can switch when a launcher runs out of ammo, plus the 5th with no heatsink for shooting scouts. This is paired with a large long range 3 gimballed thermal vent beam. That keeps the ship cold on approach to the Interceptor and strips it's shield away. The last ingredient is gun sights set to trailing so there is no need to subtarget Interceptor hearts to hit them. You just need to play with yaw, vertical and lateral thrusters to get the trailing gun sight over the Thargoid heart to hit it. Despite the scatter of shard cannon shots, hearts pop pretty quick 2 to 3 shots, so long as you are less than 1km away, ideally within 700m.
The thermal vent beam and heatsinks keep you cold enough to sit right in front of the Interceptor shooting it with shards "mostly".

Worth a try if Gauss cannons and FA off flying isn't your thing.
