I’ve bought it because I thought it’s a wonderfully made animal just as the previous ones were. Also Dhole, Binturong and Striped hyena were fixed so why does not Malayan tapir?

I agree with that. I'm just saying that using the "I bought it I deserve it" excuse isn't much of one. If it bothers some people so much that the game is unplayable, then they should either just deal with it or return it.

I understand that you don’t care about the tapir but it’s a very important animal for many of us here.
Imagine if your most desired animal would end up like that. Would you maybe care a little bit more?

I understand this as well. But to be honest, I'd be happy that it got into the game more than how it looks. I know that, even if it didn't get an official update to its look, I can always find mods that'll fix that, while mods wouldn't necessarily be able to add my desired species.

I really want the gray fox, but at this point I doubt it's inclusion, and no mods as of right now can work because it'll lack the unique tree climbing ability. But if Frontier were to release one, and maybe it's a little ugly, I'll just be happy that it's in the game with proper animations. A modder can fix the face and tweak the tail to give it a desired look

I always ask myself: if the product isn't up to your standards, why'd you buy it in the first place?

I never cared in the 1st place for the tapir, to be honest. It doesn't bother me, and I don't mind using mods; I'm waiting for support to end before I get any, though

Well, then just don't use it or something. Clearly, griping about it isn't going to change it. The only reason I'm supporting a tapir update is for players who aren't satisfied with it, but I'm not gonna go complaining the whole time about it or tell everybody why I'm not satisfied with it

To me the proportions are still off. The shape is still off. It’s better but not perfect. And the point is, we shouldn’t have to rely on mods for things we have paid for that aren’t up to scratch.

Is there really any reason to talk this case down, in a thread dedicated to this topic?
I know this issue tends to show up in other threads from time to time, and I guess that might get annoying. That is why it is good that we got this party here where we can cry if we want to. This thread is almost 2 years old, no reason to derail it now.

Mods are a solution for some, but not for all. And it is as much the principal in it, as it is the (lack of) design itself.

Had they painted the spotted hyena as a striped and released it as an official animal, nobody would find ''Use the mod'' a good solution. Clearly, those who cared about the face of the pre-release model didn't think that was a solution, to such a degree that Frontier realized they messed up. But that hyena was at least something they had tried to get right from the start, no matter the result. That is not the case with the Malayan tapir.
Besides the Zoopedia, they didn't put more work into this tapir than they did to any of the new color morphs they added as a fun surprise.
It feels like people don't care about this, because they haven't really looked into the differences between the tapir species themselves. And that is fair. But don't get annoyed at us, when we are telling you that Frontier fooled you with this animal.

If I was being scammed without realizing it, I would appreciate it if somebody informed me. Instead of getting annoyed.

I understand, and I apologize if that's what was understood by what I had said. I had no intention to put anybody down, nor do I think that this is entirely not important.

I know the differences between the 2 animals, and I know that the tapir could be a better. I do support the want for a better model, but if it doesn't happen then I'm ok with it.
I know mods aren't the best choice, but at this point, unfortunately it seems that Frontier won't change it. They changed the binturong, dhole, and striped hyenas, yes, but that was shortly around the release of the pack they came in. We're now almost 2 years past the SEA pack, and there isn't a hint.
Do I want Frontier to fix it? Sure, I think that it'd be a great move to please the players. I just don't think that that is the focus now.

But, you know, I've been thinking: there are quite a few animals that players don't like, most notably the base game animals. Do y'all think that an update with better animal models is something that might be considered? Updating the cats, bears, canines, female Saltie, and tapir?

Well, you have a solid following, so maybe it'll be ok. But it seems that most of the feedback comes from these forums.
Hopefully more players support, even if just to support when they aren't affected by it

I want frontier to change it, a lot. I got this dlc because it had my favorite tapir species. And then when i placed them i felt something was off..
But i also have no faith that frontier will fix the older animal designs like the tapir or the lion or other animals because its been so long.
I use mods, i love remasters, and for now it does the job. But that doesnt mean i dont support the wish for an official update.

Yeah hacked accounts , I sent reports in as soon as I saw them. Best thing to do with inactive accounts that suddenly post links to malicious sites is report them so the mods can lock the account and of course never ever click the link

I really do think that the Malayan Tapir it might be the worst animal in the game, why? because I'm pretty sure that is just the Baird's Tapir accidentally went to the shower in the colors of black and white and that's how it out. Seriously, there is nothing different about this animal from Baird's Tapir, no change in sounds, not in animations, not even in the size of the model it really the Baird's Tapir enter the container of black and white. I know that like animals like the Lion, Snow Leopard, Timber Wolf, Warthog and even the HBB they looks not good at all compare to the new animals that we got in the last dlcs. but a least the Lion yea it looks like Lion from Children's series.
but a least frontier really make an effort in it, the animation are really good and the sounds it well made the rig is really well just the model need a rework.
and when it comes to our Baird's Tapir that went to container of colors or it should called Malayan Tapir but really frontier didn't put any effort in this animal.
Even if frontier only changed the size of the Malayan Tapir then at least I should have looked a bit at how they should look yes it would still need rework but still...

so pls everyone support it, like I know there is some remasters for it but not everyone use mods (It's me, HI) like for me it not really like even if it would change I don't think I still will use it so much, but probably more... but the peoples who really love this animal and don't use mods just for them I support it even though yes I will use it also and for me it also important but It's not like if it wouldn't change I will hate PZ or something silly like it. so just if u can and It's important for u pls support it.
