Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

So apart from everything being not the same, it's the same?
Some of what he was describing can be found in SC, and some things he wasn't describing can be found in SC and not in ED.
For me, I don't care having a billion planets if they have less diversity than the planets of the sole Stanton system in SC (even if they are at the 'real size')

I actually do want to play it.

I posted many times about the things that I like about Star Citizen and what I (try to) enjoy about it. The constant server wipes however mean that it is a complete waste of time for me personally to play it, so I don't. I check it out every few months, I come across the same buggy mess in the same old system that never changes. I realise that I have to re-grind literally everything again with my good old Cutlass Black... and I give up just at the thought of it.

It's been 11 years. 11 years of wiping my progress. 11 years of broken promises. 11 years of alpha :ROFLMAO: It is absolutely ridiculous!

I don't even want to start talking about Squadron 42, as that's another can of worms.
The funny thing is, I don't mind wiped saves. I often play single-player games in Iron-Man mode, and I've done it repeatedly with my alt in ED. For most games, the early-game experience is the best experience in the game. Which is why, once I had a computer capable of running the game, I started participating in free-fly events.

In Star Citizen, the early-game experience is the worst. Not only does it drop you into one of the worst newbie starting areas I've ever seen in an alleged MMO, to the point where veteran player's tell you to escape from it as soon as possible, but the starting ships aren't even capable of doing basic missions. If you want to do them, you'll need to pay real money for a ship capable of doing them.

And then there's the sheer amount of dead time in this game. Long periods of time where you do nothing but traverse large volumes devoid of interaction. Empty space where there are no decisions to make, no threats or opportunities to pay attention to, and no activities to do. Just long stretches of time spent either passively waiting, or holding down the "forward" key to traverse it on foot or, perhaps, in a ground vehicle.

A certain miniscule mandible likes to claim that other games have less content than Star Citizen. That's not the case in my eyes. Star Citizen has a lot of assets, but assets are not content. Gameplay is content, and there's still precious little gameplay in Star Citizen. Which is why the game pads players' playtime with so much dead time.

No. Stop spreading false infos.
I do all combat missions lev1 and 2 with a stock Aurora. And as the Mustang has a real cargo now, it can also do delivery missions like the Aurora.
And if you don't want them, you can rent better ships easily with little ingame money.
Avenger Titan, 41 244 aUEC for 3 days

"dead time" ? When you know the game you can chain missions with few downtime

I start to understand that a big part of your bad perception of the game is mainly due to your poor knowledge of it...

So. About that beta you told me to wait for... When will I be able to play it, again?
This is exactly like asking Valve when will we able to play Half Life 3. It may happen. Or not. Absolutely zero guarantee. And much like we can still play the already released HL2 we can also play the current version of SC. This is it, SC is already released, and CIG is treating it as such. Except SC is a crappy mediocre product and HL2 is a classic.

Sq404 would never make it anywhere close to HL2 no matter the stars they cast. Roberts is just too big a dilettante.

I’ve got the (edit: Frustrating) Formicidae on ignore. Did they say anything worth replying to, or is it their customary obfuscation, prevarications, and misrepresentations?

edited due to my original choice of alliteration running afoul of Frontiers overzealous censoring…
Curious to see if someone will say you that you had given wrong informations.
Good choice of you ignoring me. I was deteriorating your echo chamber.

Here are some more fun words and phrases that have become synonymous with SC's more fanatical and whitest of knights, courtesy of the j3ptGPT bot :D
  • Baseless
  • Disingenuous
  • Pushing a narrative
  • Vitriolic attitude
  • Meaningless statements
  • No merit
  • Lacking logic
