Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I was just looking at my "travel map" - it's sooo unadventurous! :D Perhaps I should get out more...
Mine probably looks like that. Where do you get that?
Still looks better than mine. Got a few hours less under my belt, though.;)

Why is so much on foot stuff on the dark side of the planet?
It’s to keep Night Vision mods selling so well in high demand… ;]

Actually I was getting the dark side most of the time as well for a long time, but lately it's been the light side. Oddly enough though, it seems to turn quite a bit darker after I've been there for a minute or so. I do have night vision, but find the flashlight is best.
One can choose with CZ’s and also check mission locations via the link to galaxy map, but i tend to choose between a suit with NV or enhanced tracking when in glide mostly… the light/dark side on the planet surface map can still be a bit inaccurate.

Here's my travels, almost all of those I'm hitting every single system and as you know, I don't have a carrier (yet). Almost all of it in my Anaconda. I think the furthest out I got was about 50,000 Ly from Sol, here's a screen shot at around 45,000 Ly.

Here's mine from edsm.net. Top left corner is Beagle Point, bottom right is Livingstone Point which is the farther 'south' you can go.

Wow these are quite amazing - i guess mine would be an “asterisk” centered on Sol, with quite a few 1000-2500LY spikes and occasional 3000-5000+LY longer ones :]

I would guess that is because most planets/moons aren't tidally locked to the star...
I thought the surface maps were rendered based on current time and meant to keep up with orbital rotation, but i still find it best to pick the suit when i’m packing eBreaches and have a closer view of the site …or just stick to one with both mods (NV & ET) if i’m feeling cruisey and can’t be bothered with the extra fuss ;p

I have bitten the proverbial bullet: Win 11 is downloading. I'm not scared. Not at all. OMG. What have I done?

Perhaps I'll see you all on the other side. Or maybe I won't... I have no fingernails left. Wish me luck...
What was that? …did you just say you were off to Colonia in your original SideWinder?!

*…only kidding - HF&GL and do let know how it goes… then i might just start thinking seriously about this :D

You know Windows 10 is still good for almost 3 more years, right? And stable...
I bought a new PC with Windows 11 installed just a few months after it came out and it had quite a few bugs, but seems to work very well for me now. Seems that whenever a new Windows version is released it's a bit like one of those "early access" games and they depend on the worldwide user community to report all the nonsense that crops up.

Sounds all too familiar… always a mix of excitement and “but what will be broked” when getting a patch here as is… still, change is inevitable and the world galaxy’s got to keep turning - we’d all just get bored otherwise, eh? :sneaky:

Hmm. My sound is a little different from when it was using Win 10. It's not bad in any way and works perfectly - it just sounds different and I can't put my finger on it. Very subtle - some voices are quieter, as are footsteps (I'm talking about ED here :D ) . I'm using one of these so I may have to faff around in here:

Quite why somethign changed I have no idea. You just have to love Microsoft.

Just did an on-foot mission and it's all looking OK - so far, I can't (apart from the sound) detect any differences. Yet.

Next up: I need to get tweaking Win 11.
