Last of us looks interesting as well, never played the console version but it looks good and has lots of positive press. The question is should I watch the show first or play the game?
What is it actually about? I've sorted it under zombie apocalypse. The TV show was created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman...Neil Druckman being the creator and designer of the game, Craig Mazin is the creator of the TV series Chernobyl. Having watched the first episode of the TV series, I love it. There are a few differences, mostly a filling out of the game story that wasn't necessary for the game, but in essence...it stays very true to what the game was all about.
The last of us as a game? For me personally, it's the best video game I've ever played on any platform... without exception. I played the PS4 remastered version extensively along with it's sequel. The last of us part 1 (as it's now renamed) is coming to PC on the 3rd of March via Steam or Epic so no need to try out the console version...the latest remake version released for the PS5 last September has been totally rebuilt to run on both the PS5 and PC.
As a game, The Last of Us part 1 is a game I would recommend anyone to play at least once in their lifetime...watching the TV series first won't spoil the game either, the game has it's differences and as an experience is more intimate than watching without the interaction of playing.
Judging by the reception from critics and reviewers...the last of us as a TV series is set for mighty acclaim. Rotten Tomatoes score after viewing the entire series was 98%...says something on it's own.
Roughly speaking...yes. But it's done in a way that sets it out from the crowd. As a game, it's an experience with very few of the typical RPG or zombie survival game tropes and as a story based adventure, it's second to none. Saying that, the gameplay is also inventive and very well done throughout from the combat mechanics, stealth, survival aspects, gathering of resources, crafting and traversal of the gameworld...it's got it all in one package. What is it actually about? Atomic Heart: oh yeah. Of course I love these FPS/horror/with a touch of RPG games, since System Shock 2, then Dead Space, then Prey, etc.
Noticed that it's included free with my MS gamepass ultimate sub so I'll check it out, free is always good. I watched a few of the gameplay reviews on YouTube, it's definitely got Bioshock vibes about itAfter reviewing( watching Twitch and reading reviews) Atomic Heart for 2 days, i was very impressed by the game and added it to my Steam Collection today.
I saw lots of reviews sighting hows it's similar to Bioshock. Since i never played it my self, to me game looks like a movie " I, Robot " with Will Smith. An upprising of Robots against their Human masters set in the fictional USSR in the year 1955.
I was also really impressed by the game perfomance, stable 60 FPS ( capped) on my 1070 GTX card on Max settings.
Can't believe this game wasn't even on my Radar. What a pleasent surprise.

An irritation for those who don’t do subscription services?Yup, Strarfield is day one exclusive release on Gamepass...whenever that is![]()
It's also on Steam, but you can save like 80% of it's price using Game pass, and finish it in a month. Seem like a good deal.An irritation for those who don’t do subscription services?
No idea what it means. We'll see soon enough what marketing gollobs they come up with.An irritation for those who don’t do subscription services?
Most games I buy once. Then I play them. Then play something else. Some time in future I play them again. I'd need to subscribe the whole time to keep access. If you just play once, yeah, might be a good deal. But for the most part it seems more like a gag and tie down feature to make users dependant. With a fitting collection it's maybe a sensible thing but I play many niche and indies. It's also on Steam, but you can save like 80% of it's price using Game pass, and finish it in a month. I'm more likely to wait six months for the bugs to be ironed out and cool mods to be developed, then grab it on Steam for n% off, and maybe finish it in a year or two. It's also on Steam, but you can save like 80% of it's price using Game pass, and finish it in a month. Seem like a good deal.
