Jurassic World Evolution: Update 6 Highlight

Really like what I'm reading here so far! Especially the sandbox changes, more foliage deco options and attractions, those are much needed and appreciated!

Also glad to hear the team is aware of the request for the random digsites toggle because that's something I'm really missing and I hope the same goes for the skin preview inside the hatchery while we're playing. Sadly still didn't see that one among the qol updates, even thought it's terribly needed so we don't constantly have to break immersion when we want to know what a skin looks like on the actual dino.

Coming back to give some appreciate for the randomized rocks shown in the stream (about the 53:35 mark), the revised UI for both the rocks and the new PC/next gen mixed foliage option, and the new slow time control (about 54:54). Also glad to hear confirmation that the Biosyn, PA, and other varieties of biomes not mentioned before get some confirmation for the new (giant!) square maps. Can hardly wait for this update and the new DLC to roll out. Perfect timing too since I've just gotten back to playing this game again after a long time playing Skyrim.

It's amazing how far this game has come since it first launched in late 2021. Like I'm already very satisfied with it, but you all just keep making it better and better each patch. You devs have all done such a wonderful job taking it this far. Can't wait to see what the future holds too.

That said I'm not gonna lie, I am now hoping the trees gets that randomized option too, but still very much appreciate it's now a thing for the rocks at least.

It depends a little on which map you choose. They're based on the existing maps, just bigger. So the Desert map, which is based on the San Diego map, will have San Diego in the background, if that makes sense.
I assume that Nublar 2015 dont have the arrival monorail and Jurassic World gate if you select square map.

Other thing Im the only one who find weird about that empty unbuildable gap from the new square map?

Might first thought when I saw the square map’s outline was: It can be bigger. Purely because of the gap between the trees and boarder.

It’s also restrictive because everything will stand out like a sore thumb without nice forest surrounding it. The open space surrounding the map is a bit of a disappointment. @Jens Erik .Could Frontier fill it with trees? At least some areas?

Thank you for the feedback. The development team is aware that this is a highly requested issue

This is specifically for when carnivores hunt sauropods

Unfortunately we've been unable to replicate this issue, but any information people can share with us about when/how this seems to happen will be helpful.

Thank you very much Faelrin!

Yes.

This is correct: there are 9 square levels :)
good thing i bought jwe2 on all three platforms thank you for the info

It should've been for all creatures, because carnivores hunt too much often, even when they have carcasses and a feeder.

I just wanted to leave a big, fat THANK YOU for those different Biomes placeable trees.
No way to describe the impact this is going to have to my enjoyment of this game and time I put into it.

That's correct: it'll be the same as selecting a Flat terrain type, just bigger and square

Good things and above all the great disappointment once again of not being able to access the mix of decorations and buildings on the "old generation" consoles while what is paid for is paid the same price for things less so the real question is when is there an update to fix this??? I expect a real answer and not the same eternal refrain.

in short the game is good but it is better for those who can afford a new generation console.

Thank you so much Skawt! The amphitheatre is not present in the square version of the San Diego map. It'll be a large flat desert.
So basically... one of the new maps is kinda pointless. Like really how many people use San Diego for anything OTHER than the amphitheater? Deserts are kinda ok but really don't have a lot going for them to begin with. Is it that hard to just make it placeable?

It's difficult to wrap my mind around the design decision to put effort into a big San Diego and not have the Amphitheatre. Even on the expanded map version, we lose the Amphitheatre.

It's like a real gut punch. Or a "corrupt-a-wish" that goes something like:

Me: get rid of that annoying hill in San Diego
Frontier: OK done.
Me: Yay!!!
Frontier: but you lose the Amphitheatre
Me: incoherent angry noises

Praise where praise is due. I still stand my by thoughts that this is the single best update JWE2 has ever received and I'll probably get a few hundred hours of enjoyment out of the foliage changes alone.

If I'm being blunt, not sure if I'd say any praise is do regarding the maps. They gutted what value San Diego and arguably the 1993 Nublar square map. It's a big map I'll give them that, but without the waterfall what's the point of a new Nublar map? May as well just be a generic tropical map. I would have just preferred they removed that weird and annoying break in the map so that we can have all that buildable space and keep the iconic waterfall. Like really, what do these maps provide for anyone other than those with the money to run PC? It's not like console players can make much good use of that space anyway without their system crashing. Thanks to all the bugs you can't even have more than maybe 110 dinosaurs without the animals becoming stiff robots!

You make a good point about the 1993 Nublar waterfall. Like the Amphitheatre, there's an emotional attachment to it and building at those locations is just not the same without those features. I think they could easily accommodate your wish giving it an expanded map rather than a square map. Since the waterfall itself is out of bounds, I think it would be a given that if it was granted the expanded map treatment, it would be exactly what you want. Given the excitement this update has generated overall, it'd be silly of them not to keep going. Hopefully, they can take this feedback as it is. I'd like to say an expanded 1993 Nublar map is inevitable at this point - but only Frontier knows.

Why there was a decision to grant San Diego an expanded map but no Amphitheatre is beyond me. Since square maps are a thing, I cant think of a good scenario where that is objectively a good idea. There's also 2 other desert maps to scratch the Amphitheatre-free desert park itch, one of which is already a pretty decent square in it's own right and needs neither an expanded map or square map. I suppose I'll recognize here that maybe some people might like the San Diego skyline in the background - but again, square maps are a thing.

Regarding square maps themselves, this is where I diverge from your opinion. I do think they serve a really good purpose. This addition coupled with the foliage change, is the greatest update Frontier has done to unleash player creativity in JWE2 and I absolutely applaud them for it. I don't think Frontier expects the players to completely fill those up. From what I gather, this is just a way for players to design their own park layouts without being "guided" (forced) by Frontier's map layouts. I suspect even the most savvy of sandbox players will only build medium to large parks covering maybe a third to half of the available space provided - with the rest filled in with trees, mountains and water. Also, performance degradation on large builds in building games is historically an unwritten expectation players have (I'm looking at Sim City 2000 all the way to Cities Skylines here). Of course, you'll have the odd youtuber with a beast machine do crazy stuff like 10,000 T-Rexes vs 1 Struthiomimus. So what do these maps provide? It's their answer to the community - dialed to 11 and definitively end all realistic discussion requesting bigger and less annoying maps.

I can't speak for the 110 dinosaurs bug. I play on PC - and even then, really only on San Diego and I don't think I've hit that number.

Because old gen consoles don't have the capability to handle the mixed eras.
They've mentioned this before, along with many content creators who have mentioned it as well.
I play on Xbox One, so it's a little too old for it. As it is, the console lags a bit already and the game isn't as smooth as it is on PS5, Xbox One X, and PC

So, I attempted to transfer the PS4 save data to my PS5 and it didn't work, am I doing something wrong (I was angry at one point during the video and a few naughty words escaped)?
Hey Morales!

You'll need to transfer your save file from yoru PS4 to the PS5, eitehr via USB or cloud saves. The PS5 should then automatically find the imported save and merge your progress.

It does find it (and as in the video I use an USB Storage Device), but I don't know why it won't allow me to merge the progress as it mention there isn't sufficient space and I need to delete some of the JWE2 saves.
