Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

What ended up happening with those systems that got cut off from the Maelstrom?
Nothing yet but that's not surprising - it'd have been unlikely for it to instantly revert them to uncontrolled, and the other possibilities suggested for how it might weaken them (e.g. can't be used for further expansion, become easier to defeat) will take a lot more testing.

Just an unsignificant and useless observation, but have you noticed that when you're making a hyperspace jump you can tell immediately if you are going to be hyperdicted by Thargoids? For instance, if you look at the time at the top right corner, it stays remarkably steady when a hyperdiction is going to happen. If there's more movement there'll be no hyperdiction.
I most certainly have not noticed that but I'll be looking for it now :)

Note that this is only the case if the "Reduce camera shake" setting is disabled. Either way, another clear indication is to open the Navigation panel during the jump—if the jump shall be interrupted, the panel will state in advance that you are jumping back to the system from which you started.

Notifying @Disemboweled Ego for comment! It seems to be nothing dramatic yet; those Control systems are still present, and there are no Alerts around:

Aha. I guess I must have turned off the camera shake years ago. I recently experienced a brand new graphics setup (on GeForce Now) and the shake was absolutely godawful so I had to turn it off before I could even think about trying to play. (I don't know how anyone can play with it switched on, frankly.)

Nice to hear that there's another way to detect an incoming hyperdiction, ta!

[Edit: do you mean to check the nav panel before (while charging) or during the jump? I will try both, but from memory, any time I check the nav panel during a jump it's blank.][Edit2: nope, just checked, nav panel is almost blank during a jump but not quite; it displays the whirly thing + the words "jumping to <systemname>" (y)]

It is after the charge is complete and the Frame Shift Drive has engaged, during the Hyperspace moment. The Navigation panel will be mostly blank, save for a very obvious message which names the system to which you are jumping; for example, suppose I attempt to summon a Thargoid in Ramandji by jumping to Yukait:
  • While charging, the panel should say Yukait (admittedly I have not checked it, though an indication that early would be amazing!).
  • During a Hyperspace which will succeed, it will still say Yukait.
  • During a Hyperspace which will be interrupted, it will change to say Ramandji.

Yup, have just proved to myself that this is indeed how it works. (And indeed, it doesn't betray the imminent hyperdiction during charging; it's only once the jump begins.)

Yeah. That is the tell tale. I noticed it a little while after I started jumping in to Invaded/Controlled systems about two months ago. I thought it was general knowledge.

Victories in Arietis Sectors UO-R b4-4 and YU-P b5-1, and HIP 20491! The Oya alliance seems to be doing very well at keeping it Alert-free with no Invasions now, and it is on-course for no Invasions next cycle either. Well done at M. Taranis for not skipping Senocidi, and thank you to those at M. Hadad for helping Muruidooges continue to be the most-defended system; I think I will aim for at least Ramandji above it, though I am undecided on HIP 30260 versus shrinking the M. Hadad cloud more generally.

Summoning solo at Ramandji was quite slow yesterday, probably barely above Orthrus-hunting for completion rate, and that is convincing me to leave Alerts alone if I do not have at least one other Commander to help obtain Interceptors. Quick report from the DCoH science folks: You can safely buy/sell tissue samples across fleet carriers and across commanders. If CMDR A sells to the FC of CMDR B, and CMDR C buys it from that FC, it still will progress the bar when sold at a rescue ship

Great news for making it easier to introduce Commanders to the Research role! It had occurred to me that owning a Carrier makes it very easy for oneself to store samples then run a batch of them to the Rescue megaship later, but definitely that will help me with introducing at least one non-owner this coming week. Without knowing, I was going to offer the option of testing it via the Carrier market versus dropping them for me to collect...

Need to find some Cyclops? I was hanging out at Lovaroju with a couple fellow "Thargoiod Killing Machine" Commanders, and had plenty of Cyclops.. We mowed down a dozen or so.. and then 2 Hydra's showed up (to complete that stage I believe), and we were in over our collective heads... I made it back to safety with 3% hull. The quote that came to mind.. "Don't worry, she'll hold together... You hear me, baby? Hold together!"

It was a great time last night winging up with two random commanders. Good to see we helped move the bar it seems...

Long Live Humanity! Death to the Thargoids!

I´m rescuing refugees/wounded at Muruidooges. Does this kind of action counts much on countering invasion?

Thank you, and it does! I have an overview of possible actions at the top of the thread, albeit in need of revision occasionally, although evacuations should still help supplement Invasion systems. In particular, there appears to be a progress bonus if many different actions are performed, so a bit of rescue alongside the port defence should help a lot!

I gess I´ll keep doing that then. I´m lousy at combat.

Just prior to the drive for research samples, I was actually making a draft tutorial for how to destroy a Cyclops with as little effort as possible—no equipment unlocked, little to no engineering, and no real flying involved. Obviously that will be of no use to a Commander not interested in combat at all, though if your view is that you would if you could then I would be happy to finish it!

Unfortunately I needed a Cyclops specifically in the Ramandji system, but thank you ever so much for the thought, and I love your enthusiasm and your 3% hull story!

Just as I was starting up there—victory in Ramandji! That looked very much like two full batches of Research samples which were not of my doing, and I know not by whom, but thank you!

Victories in 63 Eridani, H Puppis, HIP 23128, Lovaroju and Vestet! Several more systems to follow, and an interesting Invasion situation—after Chelka (13th!), there is a large gap which in effect makes any more purely surplus. One more Invasion system is possible with perfect congregation, where Aruntei is ahead but Unktety would be more likely due to its planetary attack, but at risk of some determined Commanders proving differently that appears to be all for this cycle as far as completions are concerned!

Pentam is doing quite fine, and the Alert at HIP 30260 appears to have a strong drive behind it, doubling its progress. Despite telling myself that summoning with too few Commanders is a poor idea, I think I may try for some luck there and give it every chance of completion! If it goes too slowly to be of appreciable use, I will move to finish some of those unpopulated Control systems instead.
