Maybe the markhor itself won't sell well, but I'm pretty sure a mountain goat would be instantly recognizable. A lot of casual players have seen it and it's literally called mountain goat, not to mention that Minecraft, one of the top 10 most popular games worldwide, added mountain goats into the game.
Plus the endless amount of viral videos of goats, such as headbutting people.
Saying a goat isn't popular is definitely not true. While a bear or a gelada would look cooler, I highly doubt they'd add them, especially since they may not wanna confuse people with other packs by using similar animals

True, except that he doesn't look like a spectacled bear, he looks more like a brown bear
No, but we did get the lar gibbon for the Tropical pack, and most casual players call it a monkey

Like, i don't care the species of howler or spider monkey we get as long as we get them.
I mean that’s not really a fair accusation when we only have one monkey in the whole game
I would Not call the Gelada extremly Common. In Europe they are hold within 33 Zoos according to Zootierliste. I do Not know about the Situation in America or other continents but this is not that common. The Hamadryas Baboon for example is hold within more than 130 Zoos in Europe. Gelada could be a headliner. I do Not think it Looks too Close to the Mandrill and further the Mandrill was No headliner. But when I think of Mountains I really have no Monkey in my mind. And the Spectacled Bear might be popular but not more or less popular than other bears (polar Bear as an exception). Most people know Paddington but a lot of people do not know it shall be a Spectacled Bear. And as already said a few times before. Just because of its colorization it looks too similar to the Sun Bear. Thats why I think the Amur Leopard was Not the Headliner of Conservation Pack, too.

I’ll put it this way, when you tell someone to think of the first animal that comes to mind that lives on mountains, they’re first initial idea would be to go for an animal that has mountain in the name. What would that be? Mountain Goat. I’m sticking with the Markhor.

There is one contender for the headline we haven’t gotten to yet-
Eagles, bears, lynx, deer.
And the goats people think of are ibexes and Rocky Mountain goats
It would be a fun mascot for sure
I prefer the mountain chicken
But the main point is that it’s a goat, it doesn’t matter what species of goat it is, it just matters that it’s a goat.

I do not know. When I hear Bear, Lynx and Deer I First think of Forests and Not Mountains. And it does Not Matter which goat people are thinking about. For Most people a goat is a goat and they do Not Care that much about the actual species.
Goat inclusion yes, not famous enough to be the mascot they’re just not popular enough outside forums.

We got an Armadillo as a headliner. So popularity really is not the point. I also would include the Beaver to the list which is a unique animal but Not the Most popular one one earth and WE got IT as headliner for NA.
