Wonder how many years it took them to come up with this idea.
Oh god, are virtual land sales back?

I watched AO's last video regarding SC, and it really looks impressive, however there are still a lot of shady stuff going on, and i would not jump in unless it's released out of alpha and on steam. And why on steam you ask? well because if I want a refund I don't need to go through burning oil pits to get it.

SQ42 in beta 🥰
They probably aim for christmas 2024 for the release.

I won't talk about the rest, as you seem a little tense. A priori everything was bad, the new techs presented already obsolete and most of the videos were faked 😏

Personally, I'm very, very happy with this CitizenCon.
As I mentioned before, I personally would love to see SQ42 finally being released.

I'll believe it when I see it though. And I'm not talking on someone else's screen and SSD, but on mine, ready to play. So excuse the scepticism, which is 100% CIG's fault, and their constant and blatant lying for the last 11 years or so :)

But yeah, I'll will be first to join you throwing little hearts around (not money though) the moment the full version of SQ42 is installed on my PC :)

Till then, sorry, but I do not believe a single word from them.

Tell us you don't follow the game development without writing it 😏

He's wrong about the number of rivers. Absolutely right about the painful handcrafting though ;)

The procedural river placement tool was not in as good of a state as we had hoped when we started using it. As a consequence, a considerable amount of manual effort was required to meticulously place and verify the resulting rivers to ensure their optimal quality. Moreover, this limitation also led to a decrease in the number of rivers we were able to generate.

He's a professional OoohTuber now, so never bite the hand that feeds you, nor forget that clicks=£££, so don't upset the faithful kidults.

Or is he? Some may feel otherwise. Who can say!? What do you think? Join the discussion and leave me a comment below, and like and subscribe. Or don't. Who can say?! Or can they? Some may say that I never express a firm opinion, not really. Or do I? What do you think.......
:D Spot on, Commander.

The most perplexing thing about this Citcon, amongst all the other business-as-usual blag, was the lack of a massive 'Hero ship' sale.

Presumably it reflects an acknowledgement internally that they just can't get anywhere near their big-ship backlog. (They mentioned the BMM team decamping en masse again apparently).

They've cut out the feature creep additions in the last few years, and now they've even cut out the 'sexy new concept shell' approach. At least on the largest end. Instead they seemed to go for:
  • Making the Polaris punch above its weight by showing it 2-shotting an Idris
  • Adding the Galaxy to the base building roster, alongside the Pioneer.

So those are still some top dollar ships with a new injection of FOMO. But backers do love their new ship smell. The tale of the funding ticker tape will be interesting. Wouldn't be surprised by a standard deranged jump in funding, but down on last year etc.
Wasn’t the F8 the hero ship we needed in this CitCon?

If Squadron 42 is online-only (which it probably is) that would disappoint some people. Also, if it is only 6-13 hours long, it would also disappoint because for $600 million (minus half for the MMO) people expect the best game ever made on par with Half-Life 2 and GTA 5.

It was the bonus 'back from the dead' hero in the final third of the movie ;). At $300 it's still nothing compared to the classic reveals of past Citcons though. And neither is the actual Citcon reveal of the Zeus Mk 2. IE:

2022: Galaxy - $380 for base model [$570 for the 'complete pack' with all modules]
2021: Odyssey - $700
2020: Perseus - $675
2019: Kraken Privateer - $2,000

I guess super-collector whales can still buy all the Zeus variants ('Explorer' etc) in the $500 pack. But it still feels like CIG are moving away from the uber dream craft of old, and leaving some 'old money' on the table in that sense.

Possibly they just see more practical returns in mid-size ships. (IE more likely to actually be able to churn them out, no need to add amazing bespoke features as they still sell like hot-cakes regardless ;). Even if they just flip over and play dead like the Corsair... 😳)

Homeless Santa claims to have never played Pyro before despite this being something that supposedly they've been working on for years and needs help to identify where the elevators are as he has no familiarity with any of it. Memories of the Christmas special.. Seems like no one at high levels in CIG cares much about what is supposed to be the product.

Now I know where those $600 mil went, look at all those PCs.
Supposedly this slide was legit in the base building section...

It's official, development officially started in Q1 2024. Star Citizen obviously wouldn't be complete without base building even though there hadn't been much talk about it until Starfield came out. I guess the guys at CIG needed a few more months of playing Starfield before they could start reverse engineering the system.
I mean, this is some of the stuff I think should be going in to PU in that 'next 12 months' time frame. Is that what you meant?

Hairstyles (and beards yay!)
Improved water
Fire, with gameplay loop
Better collision damage
Blood, sweat, tears and hygiene
DLSS2 & Ray tracing
Cloth physics
Updated UI including star map (thank f...!)
More depth to Reputation system
Rework of FPS gameplay, weapons
Combat and Navigation modes for spaceships
Ship engineer, for ship systems and repairs
Updated in-space movement
Isn't the current version DLSS 3.5?
"You don't understand game development" card played.

"Go play something else" card played.

"Don't reply to me" card played.

That's quite the SC bingo card response.
May the COPE be with you, always.
