Goal achieved by Frontier to sell the South America DLC to you. They have done everything right from a company Perspective.
Honestly does it really mind what we get? In my opinion not. It is just nice that we geht something and no it must Not fill any gap animal wise or regional wise in my opinion.
Hot take but for me the greater flamingo is one of the few useless animals of the game, is super rare in captivity where I live, even the Chilean flamingo is more common, but the flamingo that I really want since the begin is the American Flamingo is such a colorful bird comparted to the boring white greater flamingo, i would be so happy if we get them one day, also is my 2nd favorite animal in the world and animal so important to my culture, even if we have a flamingo currently in the gane, another would be so great addition to me

That might be, but I still dout those players - who obviously did not care to get the game right away at fuill price - sit there and think "wiuld I'd rather like an animal from South America or one from a specific biome? Do we have enough ungulates?"
If you wait several years to buy a base game cheaper, chances are you assume you won't spend 1000+ gaming hours in it. Those are probably not the people who think in animal nerd terms. Would be the same if I'd buy a random Transport Simulator now (I even forgot what the most popular game is called....) just to drive a train for a few hours. I most certainly would not know about specific train types and what are most common on railways and where they come from etc.

Honestly, these are pretty bold wishes for a free animal in my opinion. Especially given how highly requested they are. They'd make pretty attractive DLC animals. The Scarlet Ibis and the Grey Crowned Crane (especially that) would even be on my small bird wishlist, it just wouldn't make any sense from a business perspective to give highly requested animals away for free.
Plus, yeah, the American Flamingo would just be a recolor. That's the point. It wouldn't be too much effort for zero additional income for a company.

Yes and rightfully so. It's okay to spend less time on a free gift as a company. It's not to there to fulfill big wishes of the customer, it's there to show some gratitude and that way motivate to spend more money on the game.
They did model and sound changes on the black and white ruffed Lemur though, so it still was a high quality gift. So was the red deer, though I assume even less effort.
It's roughly tied between Chilean and greater Flamingos for most common, still plenty American and other kinds of flamingo found throughout Europe. I'm guessing the greater flamingo due to a well known bird to add to the Africa selection of the base game rather than how common, or simply because they are the largest.
I dont think its that crazy to suggest the Grey Crowned Crane. We have the model and animations for the Red Crowned, the only change is the throat balloon under its neck which I admit might be a deal breaker but we dont know what their plan is.
Frontier rarely puts two birds in one pack, and I fail to see how the Grey Crowned Crane, unless in an avian expansion which is highly unlikely, will be the star of a pack when we have another african bird which is around the same size and is way way more popular, the secretary bird. I think it would be smart for them to get this one out of the way, it gives people another bird which then wouldnt get them mad if we didnt get one in the winter pack assuming its highlands potentially, and they would be able to shift the spotlight on the Secretary Bird for a potential Scrublands or Savannah pack next year.
Also the Red Deer was like at 27 on the meta wishlist, the Crane is only 10 spots ahead of that, there isnt any rule against them choosing a more popular animal as long as it is generally easy for them to make.
I definitely think that the Greater was a good choice for the base game. As you've said It's very versatile. I'm definitely itching for an American flamingo now. I would love to combine both species at the entrances of my parks. It's not geographically accurate, which usually bugs me. But a lot of zoos I've been to do it, and I think with the Caribbeans especially, the contrast is beautiful!
Side Note: Petition that if we get Phoenicopterus ruber, it would called Carribean flamingo and not American flamingo. Caribbean is better imo
Out of these im definetly camp orang utan. Mostly because the current one looks kinda not great, so getting a 2023 Frontier quality orang utan to kinda "replace" is the most appealing to me

That's kinda why I hope we don't get any highly requested species as an anniversary gift.
If we get a wolverine, for example, I'd feel like that would be a bigger waste. Not only would we get an animal that could've been easily put in a pack, but we'd have less chances to get any kind of lower, clone species, like the ABB or American flamingo
Well yeah the Wolverine is a bit of an extreme since it’s number one, I was meaning an animal that’s highly requested that wouldn’t be an icon in a future pack.
I am worried its going to be some crocodilian. I hope they give us 3 animals 1) land 2) sea 3) sky and hinting we will get aviary and aquarium. omg i am so naïve.
