Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

I'd prefer something like a Northwest Pack as a scenery pack, rather than a full Tundra animal pack for what is literally the least biodiverse region in the world. Walrus, sea otter, and then pick two between the black bear, wolverine (if it hasn't already been added), North American porcupine, musk ox, elk, and maybe a waterfowl like the king eider or trumpeter swan.

No idea why people are talking about stoats. The Arctic hare also seems like mammal box-checking rather than something people actually want.

Who wouldn't want this white ball of cuteness

Not to mention a arctic hare and wolverine this pack is a solid A+.
Bro thats what I said in the first post. They would be my favourites of a roster like this.
"Sea otter is just eh" might be the wrongest wrong opinion on the forum.
I would enjoy its addition, but because it would be the third otter when we already have 2 and there are other groups of species that only have 1 or 0 in their groups (baboon/baboon like species, goats are also lacking) it really doesn't feel like we need another otter. Again my opinion.
All of these are held in captivity and are unique.
The points I listed are specific to each animal. Takin > Musk Ox (if we get the musk ox we probably will never get the takin which to me is a really big loss), Walrus is mainly found in aquariums an sea worlds and not zoos (yes I know they are in some zoos, but they are more common in aquariums)
It's basically a red deer though... yet chubby walrus is not appealing 🤨
It would use the chorus behavior and has very unique colouring. Also it would widen the variety for NA sections which for filler species is lacking. Walrus is just a brown seal with two tusks, not interesting to me.
this is a ‘pattern’ you have made up. There is no ‘cat pattern’, just as there is no pattern of DLC theme or no reliable pattern of animal vs scenery pack.
True, but the loss of the Pallas Cat would be devastating.

Arctic Hare > Stoat I only see us getting 1 of them, if they choose the stoat I'll be kinda disappointed.

Lol elk is cool but common, walrus, puffin, stoat and hare are all unique and like nothing we have ingame.

I'm sure we'll get sea otters eventually. They are very iconic, popular in media and memeable.

Also i don't see how musk ox invalidates getting takin? They don't overlap at all. They are both very distinct in distribución, biome, behaviour and looks. We can easily get both. If support continúes next year this is not going to be the last cold weather pack we Will get ( if it even is Focus un cold weather at all, we might be getting latín or central américa for all we know).

But i do think that if takin doesn't show up in a mountains centric pack then it's chances to be included in the roster will drop significally. But that has nothing to do with musk oxen lol

Nobody talking about an India pack? Is that just because it’s a seasonality thing to expect a cold climate DLC?

I’ve said it before, but an India pack would be so diverse.
  • blackbuck
  • fishing cat/Indian leopard
  • nilgai/gaur
  • sloth bear
  • grey langur
  • painted stork/green peafowl
  • Barasingha deer/chital
  • greater hornbill walkthrough (I’m an optimist)/jungle fowl
You’d get a bear, a cat, a primate, a deer, a couple of antelope, a habitat bird, and the first flying bird. Who wouldn’t buy it!?
Yes! we need the green peacock!

Right?! Humans are pattern-seeking animals, but a lot of adamant people are going to be proven wrong over the next few packs! And some by luck, and yes, good guess work, will be proven right. But the luck part is important ;)

Yes to hare AND stoat please. I think there are plenty of us that want more small animals. And mustelids are so much fun!

I mean, gah so gorgeous 🥰

I was under the impression the user meant adding the EBB as a separate species but just using the HBB model. Not an entire replacement.
I hate the HBB being in game. It was the most awful choice Frontier has made to date (in my eyes). But to replace it with the EBB would be a bad idea. Whenever we talk about the HBB in relation to the EBB, it’s usually a case of ‘splitting it’, and adding the EBB separately.
I am all for this and while you may be talking about it as a split off there is still discussion of a swap so I thought that was what was being suggested
Yeah but this was only added much later, months or even years in case of the tapir i think, thats why i specificly said "at the time"
The tapirs cant deep dive as far as I know and didnt realise it was a later addition I joined the game around the time of the europe pack.

Idk about the stoat honestly. While it would be a cool and fresh new animal, it really is super tiny, smaller than meerkats even. And it doesnt even have the advantage of being kept in large groups to make up for it.
If were talking about something more traditional weasle like i think the yellow throated marten really is the best there is. (although it wouldnt really suit a tundra pack, unless its expanded to also include taiga animals).

Sea Otter, while also neat, strikes me as more of a aquarium animal really. Which would look a little lost without other marine life i feel like
