Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Genuinly this whole "This Primate over this" is just getting silly
We need more monkeys periods and every monkey with a compelling reason to get in the game be it being common in zoos, unique looking or something special that sets them apart like the spiders tail are welcome.
Do i particulary want the Golden snub nose?
No but that doesnt mean its a bad addition, just not a priority for me and hearing people saying they are worse then niche af canids is just baffling to me.
Every single primate is leagues above any other new non bird addition and i dont see that changing anytime soon so instead of going this monkey against that monkey we should just hope to finally get more primates period

Yeah my thoughts exactly.

And actually, it will be a tundra scenery pack with deserts of snow, a couple ungulates and another pingu
Hold it there, i want to actually enjoy this years final pack.
We got 3 bummers in a row, i hope this year ends with a bang and that bang should be a generally usefull varried pack, be it a good mountain pack, a birds pack, a primate pack or literally whatever, just something interesting and usefull. We allready got an animal pack that was neither this year and a very niche scenery, aswell as one with more missed opportunitys then the base game roster. I just want one clean and solid pack to end the year, nothing more, nothing less

You did not just dis my man the corroboree frog like that.
Pacman frog, amigo. Pacman frog
For the first time I'm really a little afraid of the next dlc. I feel like if this one doesn't include my favorite meowzer, it will never come.
Now I want it just because you want it🤣
But, here's a substitute:
MKT_Artwork_Meowser.png

I feel the same way about the takin. I don’t wanna trade it for a musk ox :(

We don’t know if we’re gonna get another cold climate pack before support ends, I’m really hoping takin makes the cut.
Imagine we get a MUSCovy duck🤣
If Britches isn't happy, the community isn't happy. I'd say we can sacrifice 1 animal
You guys and your spelling kill me 😂 it’s spelt ‘Gelada’ god guys come on.
How is Italian ice cream relevant...
Oh, gelada, NOT gelato

Golden Monkey > Wolf Wannabe
Woah woah woah, let's not go crazy. Musk ox is a cow pretending to be a goat, after all.
Or is it a goat pretending to be a cow? I'm so tired after my Whataburger meal...
Jokes on you cause I want none of those 🤓
I know where you live🗡️
Except the creepy smiling weirdo.
He's the only monkey we need in-game
I am monke, HEAR ME MOAR!

sry I had too much wine tonight 😂
I don't even need wine. I'm just that kinda crazy 24/7, especially if I'm tired

I personally prefer New Worlds monkeys only because they relate to me, but I love all Old World monkeys, as well. I just don't want anymore apes or lemurs (well, except for the aye-aye and the sifaka)

Obviously monkeys are the primate species I want the most, but I've been really wanting more lemurs recently. I know we have three, but the Coquerel's sifaka is pretty much essential to me. I would also really like the aye-aye or blue eyed black Lemur too. My Madagascar sections still feel bland even after the fossa. I think the Nile crocodile and Radiated tortoises could help with that too 😂

Call me silly but yk what a very major reason is why imo a tundra pack should wait?

One of its best parts is not yet compatibel with the game.
Whatever the reason is, while birds arent here yet and some people gave up hope it still is by far the most popular new addition they could make and worth some experimenting for.
So if planet zoo or a potential sequell will continue to exist, which for all likly hood will be the case as its currently frontiers best inhouse money maker that has proven itself for steady success, im quite sure some day we will see flying birds and guess who will then be perfect for a tundra pack?

I think we can all agree on that this beauty would be worth waiting a bit longer for the muskox and walrus

Please no Celebes Macaque photos, they're quite creepy looking to me.
I deem them all necessary.

Except the creepy smiling weirdo.
Right? People need to just put photos of the Celebes Macaque in spoilers, because their expressions are a bit disturbing. I can only take so much of nature's natural weirdness, like deciding to push the envelope of monkey/human divergence just a little further.

I don’t want more lemurs however I would die for a Radiated Tortoise. If we don’t get a single new tortoise by the end of support I’ll be heartbroken.

Ok. Ok. Order of priorities with the primates people:

First, South América ofc.

  • Howler / Spider / Tamarins. All rank number one
  • Squirrel monkey comes second.
  • Saki / Uakari as alternatives. More niche, still Nice to have.
  • Another capuchin is bottom of the list in this cathegory

Second. Africa. They already got a lot of the apes and the mandril from the get go but we still need tropical monkeys and savannah/arid monkeys.

  • Hamadryas baboon comes first for this forum obviously.
  • Mantled guereza comes first to me.
  • Gelada in third place although depends if we do get the true baboon.
  • would like a second tropical monkey: diana, de Brazza's, a guenon
  • Some savannah primate would be nice. Vervet monkey seems to be the most common kind. Patas is more interesting. Another baboon is also useful since hamadryas don't fit in savannah habitats.
  • Galagos would be fun, but there isn't much demand for them and feel too niche

Third. India.

  • Grey langur / Lion tailed Macaque. Or both. But if we are talking Asia this is the place that needs monkeys the most.
  • Rhesus Macaque as second choice. Not that interesting though.

Fourth. Reaching the bottom of the list is the rest of Asia BUT there are some high profile candidates that are pretty unique and would add something different.

  • Tarsiers / Lorises. These are the most special and distinct primates we could get from SEA and that would feel like we are actually getting something completly new.
  • Next are the noseless wonders. First of course is the magnificent GSNM, followed by the red shanked douc. Both colorful and interesting. Would make a lovely trío with the extra nosey one we already have.
  • More langurs i guess? Francois one is the one i like the most.

Fifth. Madagascar ( yeah in know is technically África, but common we all know it is it's own thing much like Australia)

  • Coquerel's sifaka seems to be the most iconic one of the lemurs missing.
  • AYE-AYE in second place. Might be too ugly, creepy and hard to animate for Frontier's liking though but i would love to see it.
  • Blue eyed lemurs. They look fun.

Not even in the ranking cuz is boring is Europe's only primate the Bárbary Macaque. Being european (and barely really) is the only thing that has going for it. Of the names that are usually throw about in discussion is the most boring of all the primate options in my opinion.

Loved to hear them! Writing out idears is allways great, i tend to do that in what did you do in planet zoo today from time to time.
I mostly try to organically advance my zoo bit by bit in all directions with multiple different direction that go into different themes. Helps me to focus on what i like most, panorama shots and this great feeling of seeing something from somewhere you never eventhought and making the view much better, while also helping me to allways build for what i feel like with many different options open to me for expansion.
Im gonna be honest, after all 3 packs this year kinda let me down and the peccary was the only one to spark my creativity id really love a highland pack, just simply because of the high chance that i will get stuff that i activly want or that is atleast neat.
As much as i would hate a himalayan focus on principal as everywhere should get some love, the fact that i got a cold climate asia section do be a good painkiller if that would happen so everything mountains would bring atleast something id like, unless its somehow northamerica 4 which like no thank you

Generally i dont even like building for whats new that much cause thats kinda what everyones doing so i usally add just one or two, but i gotta say after such a long drought of animals that genuinly interest me id be more then happy to get some new animals that really give me the spark
Yeah I can never truly plan my zoos I just let them organically grow and it for me produces some of my best habitats.
This year has been pretty underwhelming on the animal choices we went from one of the best packs and years with grasslands, conservation, wetlands and the introduction of walkthroughs being incredible to whatever arid and tropical were and then oceania which is on par with twilight in that it is extremely polarising. The only thing that everyone agrees was good this year was the peccary which is only marginally better than last years animal the red deer. Hope the winter pack is a good one.
@CharlieXGaming that is true. We knew continental packs would finish off each one. I have to admit I’m surprised frontier hasn’t thrown in a pack like a primate pack yet. It may not be everyone’s favorite pack but a animal pack consisting of primates would possibly finish them off. The only question of course is what would the exhibit animal be?
They wont do a primate pack no matter how much we fight for it for 2 reasons one it will only attract those who want monkeys so anyone who doesnt wont buy the pack full stop which there are quite a few people who have no interest in monkeys. Another reason is why include 5-8 animals that could all be pack sellers together makes no sense people who desperately want monkeys will get the pack whether it has 1 2 or 8 monkeys.
There’s other reasons though.

The GSNM isn’t at all unique. We already have 4 Asian primates. It definitely doesn’t need another. The Gray Fox is also only 1 of 2 climbing canids. It is also a great counterpart to the Red Fox
bruh first of all we have 5 asian primate 3 of which are brachiating apes which a monkey is very different from the GSNM is like the halfway point between between the macaque and the proboscis monkey and would provide good greater asia representation comparing the monkey to the fox is insanity even though I would like the fox more monkeys give me the creeps.

yes I would gladly wait for my 2 most wanted packs antartica and tundra if we can get birds in them.

This is a good analysis. For me personally I'd switch the Spider and Squirrel Monkey priority but again, just me on that. Really though, South America's primate needs overshadow the rest of the continents it's not even funny.

If the only remaining primate we got from Africa was a Baboon, I feel like that would take care of a large number of people's wants in that regard. Other primates from Africa do get discussed, and of course some primate would take its place as "Africa's most wanted Primate", but I'd wager that a good 90% of talk about African Primates centers around the Baboon group. Again just a personal choice here but I'd really like to see the Aye-Aye make it in.

Separating India from the rest of Asia highlights the need for a primate from there, so that's a good thought. I'm kind of like you with the rest of Asia, definitely not a priority to me, but aside from the Celebes Macaque I wouldn't be opposed to any inclusions.

I’ll never understand why some people were and still are upset with the Tropical Packs roster. Like it gave us all of what people asked for, fossa, red River hog, sloth, sure we didn’t get a monkey but we still got a primate and a pretty good one at that, isn’t that better than no primate at all? AWM wasn’t even that bad compared to the disaster some people make it seem.

Arid I’ve warmed up to, said it before. It’s not an exciting roster but it’s more delivering in what zoos actually have which guess what that is yep a lot of ungulates.

Oceania is 2nd for me behind tropical for this year, even though I don’t have a problem with any of the roster in Oceania. Tropical just more useful.

Peccary was obviously top tier amazing.

With a couple outliers like the gazelle, I’ve enjoyed this years overall roster just as much as last years. Hoping this last pack ends us off on a high. But if we get a tundra pack… might downgrade my ranking of 2023 😬

yea I agree we got porcupine, peccary, red river hog, fossa, etc.
