Rochester, your mention of altars makes me think of the Dais system, which lies below the Lost Realms and below the mountain-related locations of Elysia, Wakea and Ys (moons and planets in those systems named after mountains).
I have been to that system but maybe not at the right time, or carrying the right things, perhaps.

Also, from selbie's above quote about Hecate, Terra Mater Blood Bores are starting to look awfully juicy ;) (and they are only available in the permit-locked Terra Mater).

The trouble is that we have no hint as to the mechanism to access Raxxla. Do we just fly through the Omphalos Rift? How do we know we've found the Rift-is it visible? Do we have to have an Omphalos ful of salt and a stick of celery??

Is the Omphalos one (any??) of the Guardian beacons? - - - has anyone tried a visible match of the beacons against the logo? Has anyone tried to fly into one? Tried to put an Ancient Key back into one?

To quote Tremors 2

I've long thought FD put a lot of design effort into those beacons for the only result being an Ancient Key...might be worth further research! Perhaps we were just taking the key out of the keyhole?
as far as I'm concerned, these mechanisms keep track of what you have in stock. For example spires, if you don't have the fungus for infection in hand, you're asked to take the object. If you have the fungus, then the mechanism is empty and you have to put it in there.
Maybe later there will be something that you need to insert into the mechanism of the guardian beacons.

Can’t recall if I posted this before, but again I was trying to reconcile why the system Artemis was utilised in Brookes Elite Legacy, if it were an intentional reference to Raxxla, of course it might not.

Eve as Artemis

Brookes alluded to his tattoo as being heavily inspired by Paradise lost; so the figures around the tree ought to be Adam and Eve, but they obviously aren’t…they have weapons, and seem to be dressed in Greek classical attire?

The following passage analysis of Paradise Lost identifies Eve probably represents Artemis…

Milton repeatedly alludes to classic, pre-biblical mythology - to the biblical characters themselves, to make cohesive connections in simile, storytelling, syntax, and wordplay.

Thus saying, from her husband’s hand her hand. Soft she withdrew, and like a wood nymph light. Oread or Dryad, or of Delia’s train. Betook her to the groves, but Delia’s self. In gait surpassed and goddess-like deport. Though not as she with bow and quiver armed’.

Still unsure why, but one hypothesis might be this goes back to my assumption that Brookes wrote his ‘unpublished’ book, but wide upon the galaxy.

And that his tattoo image, originally intended for the book, is likewise a map to Raxxla. If so does the system Artemis represent Eve by the tree of knowledge, in game this might equate to Artemis being next to the Yggdrasil system tree? If so which other figure may represent Adam?

Although I still wonder why, and perhaps this reference is far too wide to make sense, but still I wonder…

So unless I've missed someone else's analysis in my searches of the Landscape Signal - one small, tiny little detail seems to have been overlooked...

The Landscape Signal could be from a Living, Breathing Entity!!

Landscape Breath Audio (you will have to unmute the video player)
In this recording the original signal audio duration has been compressed by 3x, and notch filtering has been applied to remove the musical humming ( ie. the strong horizontal lines seen in the original spectrographic image below). This leaves the vertical bars - the last two of which are much stronger, and align with the 'landscape' shapes.

Lsig_VideoBackground.png

This means the search could involve finding a stasis pod / life raft / derelict vessel floating somewhere in the void.
It also raises many questions like what lifeform is it coming from? An escaped Guardian from the ancient civil war? A human explorer from the Quirium Drive era? A sound designer with a cheeky sense of humour? Are the 'mountain' lines perhaps related to the atomic composition of the entity's breathing?

For the technical aspects of this audio and the image:
  • Audio below 200Hz was cropped out to remove the deep humming sound - using the Spectral Delete tool.
  • The frequencies removed with the notch filtering were - 875Hz, 1167Hz, 1401Hz, 1765Hz, 2350Hz, 2788Hz, 3282Hz, 3546Hz, 4676Hz
  • The spectrographic image above was generated using Audacity - with the following spectrogram view settings:
    Lsig_UpperFreq_Settings2.png
    Lsig_UpperFreq2_forum.png
  • The left and right channel images were then overlaid with each other and the top image had a Lighten layer blending filter applied to help 'merge' the images.

i knew it! they arent considered pinnacle of evolution for nothing...
The lateral movement behind cold orbiting shows that even pilots are subject to carcinisation.

I spent a long time looking in both Hecate and Terra Mater, with & without Trinkets in the ship's hold. But I didn't try with Guardian Ancient Keys...what you say makes sense so might be worth someone trying! I'm still enjoying Starfield...

still got to find a power, kill the terrormorphs, destroy the Va'ruun battleship, investigate the distress call in Charybdis, locate the missing galbank treasure ship, provide evidence against the Crimson Fleet pirates, and find the last couple of artefacts. 🙂
The Mission in Charybdis is a very amusing part of the game, and the final stretch of the Crimson Fleet questline (exploring the Legacy and later picking a side on the final conflict) is simply glorious.

Also: the UC Vanguard plot's climax happens in Londinion in Toliman, AKA Alpha Centauri B... which makes me sad upon realizing that Proxima Centauri is not represented in Starfield at all.

He put Eden at the end of a long journey in Alpha Centauri...but perhaps something needs to be done to open the portal?
Calling it: the Omphalos Rift is a Hutton mug. Or maybe the Anaconda we earn by getting there.

Hi guys,

I thought this would be the right place to share my encounter with Raxxla while hiking in the deep woods. I never told system authority or anyone else about my experience, I doubt they would believe me and just think I'm crazy. This happened a few years ago, late summer, I had a weekend plus a few days off work so I decided to go to Dark Wheel National Park for some camping and hiking, just spend time in the woods, you know. I guess I would consider myself relatively self-confident in nature, and I never had big interest in stories about supernatural creatures or native Tau Ceti legends and such really.
320px-Camping_at_Bird_Point._Chugach_State_Park%2C_Alaska_%2834091697162%29.jpg

Everything seemed normal when I arrived at the park, the weather was nice, not too hot, I met a few hikers but not too many people. I spent a good few hours hiking along a trail until arriving at a camping site, I set my tent all nice and set and cooked some food with a portable stove. I guess the first thing out of ordinary was how silent the forest became towards the night, usually you'd hear birds and tree grubs, normal nature sounds like that. I had been in my sleeping bag for maybe half an hour when I started hearing some distant thumping sounds, like something walking in the forest, breaking branches, tearing bushes. It seemed to go further into the forest, then it was silent for maybe ten minutes, until resuming from another direction. I was quite tired at this point as it was very late, I reasoned it must have been some wild animal and couldn't really sleep, as I was constantly trying to locate the source of the sound.

What happened next almost gave me a heart attack, something flew right into my tent, a stone probably, almost tearing a rift into the fabric! I was quite annoyed and shouted loudly, this was directed at me by someone or... Something. Why would someone do something like this seemed so unreasonable, I gathered my courage and picked up my flashlight, aiming to confront whatever was causing the commotion. I looked along the forest line to my right and saw this huge dark figure standing next to some large tree trunks, I had a moment of terror knowing it was looking directly at me, before slipping behind one of the trees. It was like a ghost world or a portal between dimensions, seven or eight feet tall, definitely not an alien or a bear. Situation seemed like it was spiralling out of control at any moment despite the creature having obfuscated itself behind some bushes and trees, I knew I couldn't stay at the site and had to make a run for it, quickly grabbing my car keys and leaving the site as fast as a could.

I spent the night dozing off in a parking lot at a nearby settlement, and despite feeling terrible I knew I had to return to pick up my tent and gear. Upon returning to the site in morning, everything seemed normal, at least the tent was untouched. First signs of something off was my backpack laying next to some trees, teared open instead of being opened with the zipper, and it seemed all my things, food and gear was littered around the ground, except some old trinkets and knickknacks oddly enough. Looking from this direction I noticed some huge hexagon shaped footprints around the tent, no animal I know of could have made those, the thing must have been huge. I haven't been camping again, I don't feel the same about woods anymore. There is something dangerous out there, I truly consider this a life changing experience.

It’s not that dificult. You find Raxxla. You shot the omphalos with a laser. It activates the rift. You go in. 😉

Couple of quick things (unrelated to each other):

1) In his tribute stream to Brookes, Drew Wagar said that - as far as he knows - Only Brookes and Braben know/knew where/what Raxxla is, apparently it's a very closely guarded secret at Fdev.

If this is accurate, then it means Raxxla (and whatever it contains) is very unlikely to be anything complex in terms of assets or function. The more complex it is, the more people will need to be involved or at least know about it. Presumably the secret has been passed down to whoever took over from Brookes, etc. This also explains why there's been no leaks all these years.

2) Going through Galnet looking for references to anything from the Raxxla Codex:

Galnet Simguru Offers to Share Tomorrow Today 13 Jun 3301:
...Sol is the birthplace of our race, the shining jewel of our galaxy...

Sol is the jewel in the brow of the mother of galaxies, maybe.

Ah yes... The FD approach to inductive analysis...
Hit it with a laser...
I still worry if Raxxla is broken.

What if the Trinkets are the key, are they redundant, are they now nothing more than a curiosity, worse still are they the reason no one’s found Raxxla, are they broken?

To advertise an element (Raxxla) but not to advocate any method towards finding it, would only logically indicate there is no mechanism; that instead it only needs to be found, or it’s narrative?

I think by now we’ve established enough evidence (namely the extensive architecture, the multiple references, and FD honourable memorial) to substantiate that it (Raxxla) is certainly in game currently.

But what else could the suspected ‘Children’s Story’ be except the obvious ‘Elite Legacy’ and what else could that book allude to, if not simply ‘go to Artemis’ and / or the Trinkets? We then have the Brookes Galactic Tours, which likewise re-references that system and those trinkets!

What else is there about the system Artemis, could Legacy teach us - if Trinkets were now redundant?

The (implicit) requirement to be implemented with 1.0 capabilities narrows that down as well.

Complexity might well come in through breaking it up into multiple "components" such that you can't just do a search on Frontier's internal database for anything labelled Raxxla - it won't appear in those terms.

A place that is not a place, a door that is also the key
Been thinking back to this again and im still of the opinion that its Witch-space, its not really there and is a connection.
If Raxxla is hidden in game then something must trigger 'the door' at a certain place and maybe carrying a certain item.
Maybe you have to do something like Jumping from SOL, carrying Trinkets in a Cobra Mk3 with a triple Elite logo on the front whilst playing Europe's 'Final Countdown'?
Yeah that didn't work btw.

Are any hunters near the center of the galaxy right now? If yes, please check the lowest point of the galaxy. Judging by the map, there is a cluster of neutron stars, but there is an obstacle due to the distance. If it is possible to use a neutron star to enhance the jump and then return back in the same way. Very suspicious place, needs to be explored

The second part of the Toast also points towitch-space:
"To the whisperer in witch-space, the siren of the deepest void!"

I still don't feel like I've heard of a convincing idea for what this might mean - other than there are whispers in witch-space - why mention them??

I suppose someone has already attempted to listen for whispers and see if there's any differences in the audio across different parts of space? I hope someone has!

The Landscape Signal is from a Living, Breathing Entity!!

... the final two of which are unmistakably the breath of a living being!

Listened to it a couple of times using headphones and I couldn't hear the breathing....

Is there a good quality original sound file around? Not had a look at the landscape signal in a while...
