Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Okay, I'm going to try a Tundra pack thingie that would actually excite me:
  • Walrus
  • Stoat
  • Wapiti
... great. If we can't add flying birds or whales, I guess I'm done :D Raccoon dog and Wolverine are off limits in a tundra pack or are they not? Sorry, the climate regions always confuse me, especially the taiga/tundra thing.
I have read shortly into it. Taiga is a colder region defined as boreal coniferous forest whereas the Tundra is defined that no trees are growing anymore.
By this Definition the Wolverine would Work in a Tundra Pack whereas the American Black Bear would fit better into a Taiga Pack for example (edit: even when a small Population can be found within Tundra areas).

So a tundra animal pack would be?

  • Walrus (obvious mascot if it’s in)
  • Alpine marmot
  • Arctic/mountain hare
  • Muskox
  • Red-breasted goose
  • Rock ptarmigan
  • Wolverine
  • European adder (exhibit)

I Will be fine with a tundra pack. Boreal even better. What worries me is that outside of animal nerds like use i don't see a very interesting roster that could be appealing to the general audience to get good revenue out of this.

Unless they go bear, walrus, otter, rabbit i guess. Which is possible

A Walrus would definitely work for the general public as ticket animal. Arctic Hare for the cute factor. Maybe god forbid even a bird (that's not a penguin).

I'm slightly excited

Black bear indeed do live in the tundra. Although they traditionally are believed to be forest animals the truth is these guys are highly adaptable and very successful as a result. They have to be though when you compete with puma, grizzly, polar bears, and wolves. The black bear easily outcompetes their competition because of their adaptability.

Last year they did a livestream build (I can’t remember the name of the special segment they called it) but it was just before the Twilight pack. The zoo that they were building was set around a dark/haunted castle, and they built specifically using a sunset timing on the map. I can’t remember the exact details, but I do remember this was before the Twilight pack was announced. We all jumped on it saying ‘nocturnal pack, nocturnal pack’ and people (like now) said ‘no! This will have nothing to do with the theme of the coming pack!’ Lo and behold, Twilight Pack with a haunted castle theme and crepuscular animals.

So whilst I’m not saying this challenge guarantees a tundra pack, it could certainly be a hint. It’s not unheard of that we’ve had hints previous to announcement!
Tbh I had no idea that stream happened ahaha. My point has been properly invalidated lmao.
I still doubt they'd just say "Tundra moment" and then let the pack be a Tundra pack but still, if it happened it happened lmao. If it's hinting to Tundra I'll be cool, but I still think it can fit Mountains and MAN do I want my Mountains Animal Pack. Either of them would be more than welcome in my book.
My personal "Tundra" (Although something along the lines of Polar or Northern would be more fitting) Animal Pack:
  • Greenland musk ox
  • Mountain hare
  • Pacific walrus
  • King eider / Spectacled eider / Red-breasted goose / Tundra swan
  • Alaskan sea otter
  • Wolverine
  • Rocky mountain goat / Siberian musk deer
  • Eurasian flying squirrel (WE) / Common European adder (E)
I'm still in desperate need of my Mountain bois god please frontier I need my takins

I also think that a Musk Ox could be an appealing animal. I already posted it here but it was one of the animals I already knew with Low age but have not seen in a real Life Zoo. The Wolverine depends but because of the Superhero movie it could have some popularity, too. I think you can make a balanced Pack out of a Tundra Pack If you want.
One mention: It is Always difficult to Imagine the wishes of a person with only really basic animal knowledge. It even is difficult Here already as you can See Here within the discussions that the Wishlists are highly diverse.
