Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

I love how wild our discussions get. We get real sarcastic with each other and just boomerang it back🤣
You are the personification of the Arid Animal Pack
Best comment ever
Musk ox over Takin.
Mountain Pack over Tundra Pack.
News tomorrow over News next week.

...e basta.
She has spoken
We have four ratites,(hopefully we get five) idk why having four penguins is a problem.
Because rhea is good, rhea is life
Rhea is cool, now don't cause a strife
If looks could kill
Did someone say All-Star?

And now for the freaking third once a day reminder to be on the look out tomorrow for news. I really didn't think we would make it to Tuesday without any news, maybe my original prediction of the announcement on Friday was right, eh who knows.

Friday is probably the DLC announcement, like what they did with the Grasslands pack

I still think it will be thursday. I hope is tomorrow though.

So only real possible maybe kinda clue we got is the tundra challenge. So maybe it is indeed a cold weather pack.

My final prediction is Cold Animal Pack. A mix of Tundra/Taiga (Boreal)/Polar

1. Wolverine (because is highly requested by forums)
2. Walrus (because is popular and recognizable and face of the pack material, even if ugliest of the faces)
3. Musk ox (obligated ungulate and is an icon of the arctic, looks like prehistoric beasts, we could get some updated herd behaviour in the free update for them and is pretty much synonimous with surviving blizzards and harsh cold environments)
4. Sea otter (Will come eventually, is fairly requested and memeable and has cute factor going on for it)
5. Palla's cat (another meme heavy animal, also a carnivore plus they have small cat rig)

Now next two are just wishful thinking

6. Arctic hare or Patagonian Mara
7. A bird: Tundra swan (finally waterfowl) or yet another penguin (hope not) or maybe we get lucky and is puffin

8. Exhibit. If not snowy owl then i don't really care.

Leaves markhor, takin, gelada / GSNM and spectacled bear for actual Mountains pack (scenery maybe?) for next year.

The challenge isn't a hint. As it would end a few days before the dlc would even come out.

I don’t think an Antarctic pack would go over well with the community.
yeah well I like it and the name would follow a pattern so manifesting time/
Also the hyrax isn’t really a ā€œfavouriteā€ per se, it’s more of a wildcard because other than me, there really isn’t a lot of talk about it.
I like it it is one of the only animals I would actually build for out of the highlands roster
Yeah idk why PZ2 should come in like a year or two.
If Planet coaster is anything to go by well likely wait a long while for a sequel, ofc assuming there will ever be one in the first place
It all depends on when they started development or planning I do think if its happening we will see it by the late 2020's and that they have started planning for a sequel already.
I mean, perentie, argus monitor and banteng (it's indeed a oceania animal, for my surprise) were right there.
the bateng is not oceanic even if your including all the islands east of sulawesi they really only have the domestic which are invasive.

it wont be thursday because of the jwe2 release it would over shadow it completely that is why we were all thinking earlier in the week but friday is also a possibility. the tundra challenge may be a hit a way of getting us using and inspired with the cold climate animals but it means nothing since all we have been speculating about is cold climate anyways

If it really is tundra, here is some animals I think could be in it:
  • A subantarctic/antarctic penguin - Rockhopper is the most popular choice but Gentoo is another option, would work well as a mix with Kings we already have and are the most obvious pick left for an antarctic animal. We just got a penguin but I don't think that is a barrier, we got two foxes back to back in 2021.
  • Sea Otter, - not a typical "tundra" animal but they live all the way up to the Aleutian Islands in Alaska and are quite a popular cute animal, I think that would sell for a lot of more casual players. Eurasian/North American River Otter also technically an option.
  • Rocky Mountain Goat - not brought up much and probably not the most popular caprine but they do live up to the northern subarctic tundras and would be quite easy to make.
  • Muskox - the big arctic tundra ungulate, kind of an obvious pick for this pack.
  • Waterfowl - Lots of good options here, Snow Goose, Spectacled Eider, Whistling Swan, Emperor Goose, Red-Breasted Goose
  • Auks - I've warmed up a bit to these being habitat animals, Puffin most popular but the murre/guillemot is a good option.
  • American Black Bear - Yea not typical of the tundra but honestly it could work (just imagine Frontier got them mixed up with the Arctic Fox in 2021)
  • A grouse of some kind - capercaillie most popular option. Should be easy to make from the peafowl rig.
  • Wolverine - The favourite of the forums currently, which can work in a lot of packs and this is of course one of them.
  • Siberian Musk Deer - A bit of a sleeper pick, but they are native to tundras and work as a good filler species.
  • Walrus - Best for last, I think this would probably be the big sell and the headliner of any tundra pack.
There is 11 ideas for habitat animals and here is my ideal but still somewhat realistic roster out of these:
  1. Walrus
  2. Wolverine
  3. Muskox
  4. Southern Rockhopper Penguin
  5. Siberian Musk Deer
  6. Sea Otter
  7. Red-Breasted Goose

And this isn't mentioning animals from Alpine Tundra, only those of the polar and subpolar regions so there is still potential for some mountain based animals in a tundra pack... In fact it could potentially free up space for animals from warmer climate mountains in a future mountains pack. For exhibit animals, I'm still really not sure, just something more interesting than the wood frog please lol.

Oh ok. Didn't know about the JWE 2. Then not Thursday lol

Yeah that is what i think too. Is a way of getting in the mood of cold whather animals after a whole year of warm climate packs.

I very much will prefer an Amazon/latinamerica pack myself to round up a whole year of warm climate packs but is not likely.

I’m realistically expecting news next week judging from past formula
I think having animal dlcs as the last of the year is a good idea as it seems spring dlc is dependent on Easter therefore some years the announcement is almost 4 months as opposed to 3 months, with the exception of this year it seems fall dlc takes a while as well.
The animal dlc I find gives us time to work on numerous zoos and can hold us out till the next dlc. What I mean by that is dlcs such as wetlands and grasslands as there’s animals found all over rather than one location.
