Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

This is another Arid case for me. These animals are all fine on their own but as a set its just so lacking and does nothing to help the game's roster situation. Hopefully the other animals are better, but if you have nearly all of Asia two ungulates and two carnivorans aren't exactly the most diverse picks for such a large region.
This represents me so bad

what should I say.
Lets say : I‘m Not the biggest Fan so far
I Love the Takin and Like the wolverine
the other two.. IDK 😅 I mean, Saigas and Sloth Bears Are not my Most wanted Animals 😅
I‘m gonna wait till tomorrow and see, What the other 3 Animals are

Yeah because Oceania was 🙈🤯

I am still leaning hard on this being a more general Adaptations/Evolution pack rather than being specific to Eurasia or whatever. One thing that's been consistent in these streams is that things around the hosts point toward the pack theme...
  1. There is a map of the world on the wall.
  2. One of the books of the table is "Origin of the Species" by Charles Darwin.
  3. The wolverine is not exclusive to Asia.
So what we've seen thus far is 3/4 of animals are likely Asian with one having broader distribution. It's possible that the remaining three habitat species (and potentially the exhibit species) are from North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and/or Oceania.

For a community so obsessed with hints/clues... It's odd that folks are completely ignoring two very obvious ones.

Obviously, I could be wrong but it just feels odd to put that book right there and for them to highlight the different adaptations each of the animals has throughout the stream and for that to not be the case.

So far I'm liking the picks, it's going to be a combo of the arid and Oceania packs in regards to roster diversity. Kinda funny that the people who liked oceania with its niche animals are hating this pack.
But in case of kiwi, devil and quokka there really arent alternatives.
They are really niche but unique. The saiga is also unique but could have been a more universally usefull ungulate aswell like blackbuck or nilgai.
Personally i dont mind it since i dont care to much about the capitvity thing. Im just a little sad for those who do since asia really needed some lowkey hoofstock and got a really niche one, similar to when it got the proboscis monkey

If Frontier insists on an antelope, the blackbuck and nilgai would have been straightforwardly better picks--more captive presence, and the sloth bear shows that India is on the table for this pack.
But are they really more interesting?
Nilgai fair, but while the black buck is neat i gotta say if asia wasnt as starved for ungulates theyd just be the most generic one. Thats not a bad thing in itself, but that also means that the saiga and blackbuck really dont tip on each others toes and can coexist in the game just fine.
Id rather blame the grassland pack for a second wilderbeast that is just a generic african savannah antelope instead of an animal that represents an entire ecosystem so far only coverd by the prez wild horse, bactrian camel and gray wolf.

The saiga brings something unique and interesting to the table and elevates a so far barely existing ecosystem, making it far more unique not just in apparance but also what it actually enables and represents in game, which imo goes >>>> about being common yet generic filler

Only for that I'll buy it immediately and I'm really happy.

But I had some weird feelings about the pack. The gift shop shows a new path unless I'm wrong, so this is an Asia standard pack. I hope the exhibit animal is the cobra.

I'm confused on why having a world map all time on screen just to give us an Asia focused pack. Also I was superexcited for the baboon and for a moment the whole chat was too, but it's the saiga. I would prefer a blackbuck, but Frontier loves big noses.

As a bear lover, I'm happy to finally get a new one, but it's my less wanted bear. Asia has all the bears now, but South America has none. I hope the Andean bear and American Black Bear come eventually too.

Last but not least, this is not our last pack at all, they are still saving popular animals for future packs. We can still get our Amazon + Safari + Forest + Mountain packs in 2024.

Edit: it's not a new path, so it can still be an animal pack

The only way an Asia Pack lineup could redeem itself for me would be in this way:

• Sichuan Takin
• Markhor
• Wolverine
• Sloth Bear
• Lion Tailed Macaque
• Saiga
• Domestic Yak

Honestly, of all the themes I expected, Asia one has me the least excited. It’s already well over represented. We need ‘EURasia’, not just ‘MORE Asia’
