Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Good points. They did keep mentioning special adaptations didn't they? That was definitely the focus
  • The saiga's horns and nose
  • The takin's spindly legs
  • The wolverine's thick fur and climbing ability
  • The sloth bear's large claws, used like utensils and for digging, and carrying their babies

I wonder what else would fit with that theme?
It would just be really weird for them to bother putting that map up on the wall and have that book sitting on the table the way it was and have it not be a hint toward something. Maybe that's not it at all... And what they're highlighting is how diverse a region Asia is? And how different species have adapted to those varied climates?

That said, if it is Adaptations/Evolution themed the beauty of the pack is that it could literally include most any animals. Looking at the remaining animals in the top 10 of the metawishlist it could be any of those species. The legs of the secretary bird, the coloration of the coati and their snout, the arboreal tree kangaroo, the tusks of the walrus, the sound of the howler monkey, the beak of the shoebill, etc.

I'm pretty happy with the way the roster is shaping up thus far so whatever we get... It'll be good, I think! Hah.

My thoughts:
1. Takin- Definitely one of the animals I want most. I don't really have any other thoughts on their inclusion, I'm just really excited!

2. Wolverine- I could have lived without their addition but a solid choice. I expected them to come eventually and will use them often in place of a lot of the other North American carnivores.

3. Saiga Antelope- I'm not super keen on their inclusion. People will hate me for this, but since they don't have a strong captive presence I won't really ever use them. I'm confused about why they didn't choose the highly requested blackbuck. Saigas aren't even popular in the media. Happy nonetheless for those who want them though!

4. Sloth Bear- OH MY GOSH!!!! I was a bit disappointed cause I thought we'd get the ABB instead of the sloth bear. I'm not worried in the slightest that this will affect the spectacled bear's inclusion. It honestly makes me more certain that we could see a Latin America Animal Pack in the spring. They are perfect for actual Indian areas.

Final thoughts and speculations:
I think it is an Asia Pack. The scenery will be Central Asian/South Asian-themed (excluding India). I honestly think there's no need to be more specific than "Asia".
It should be animal pack this time

Interesting teases so far. Sloth bear is a bit meh to me. Let's first see what the pack has to offer for other animals, I can't figure out what kind of pack this could be. Not a Mountain pack for sure, perhaps temperate or Asian pack? Wolverine and Takin are nice picks though :)

Sloth Bear: somewhat common in zoos, unique in its shaggy fur, One of my top wants! :)
Saiga: Cool looking, and its an Asian antelope everyone wanted so I can get over the fact its not in captivity too often...
Takin: well known (maybe not truly common) animal in zoos, and cute youngsters. Gives needed representation to the Himalayas in terms of hoofstock.
Wolverine: Cute and Ferocious and well known!
I like this pack...
NOT a dream but pretty great still! :)

If the animals are what i think they are (takin/wolverine/saiga antelope/sloth bear) it’s a good start for me. Not thrilled with the Sloth Bear but maybe the Spectacled Bear will come next year

A mountains pack isn’t off the table yet, unless we get one or both of the Pallas Cat and Markhor. So that’s 2 of the other 4

Slipping in the Eurasian Otter, and it will be absurd if the exhibit is nor some type of Cobra.

Final Prediction - Eurasia Animal Pack:

1. Takin
2. Wolverine
3. Saiga
4. Sloth Bear
5. Wild Boar
6. Reeves's Muntjac
7. Mallard (My crazy prediction, would be boring otherwise)
8. No Idea for Exhibit so I'm leaving it blank
