Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

I will actually laugh if the GSNM is added, because some people were vocal about not having it.

I wouldn't care too much, although I'd love a baboon because I can make a baboon rock platform or something like that
Hamadryas Baboon is possible but it seems unrealistic If WE should get an Asian pack. I combine it with African Wildlife and Not Asian (even If its range includes parts of Arabia)

I really want the update to include baby animals being carried on their parents backs. Primates, anteaters and sloth bears should all do it 🙂 And not just a one- time birth animation, but at random and pretty often.

They mentioned sloth bears carrying their cubs in the stream, so please let it happen in game!

(Do anteaters carry their babies in game?)

For me is not about expecting specific animals but more so not wanting certain animals when there are others i want more and considering we don't really know how much longer support is going to last. So every pack that includes a couple of giant oddballs feel like a missed oportunity for other animals i feel are more needed. (example being wisent and saiga instead of takin and blackbuck/markhor/muntjac for instance)

I'm good with whatever theme. I wasn't expecting anything in particular. So i'm no disapointed by that, but if the supposed takin turns out to be a wisent and we add saiga to that which was never of interest to me then so far is looking pretty much like a let down for me.
Honestly the oddballs are what make a pack for me because they are the things that stand out among a series of safe but mediocre choices like the takin. For me the theme of the pack matters more than the roster I would be more angry if it wasnt called asia even if the rest of the 3 animals are what I view as perfect additions then if the whole pack was ungulates.

It is very strange that many members of the community of this forum complain to the point of tragedy about the animals that are going to be introduced in the game through the next DLC. After a year in which the DLCs contained only exotic animals for those living in the northern hemisphere, Frontier brings a package with animals specific to the Eurasian area. A DLC that was needed. Animals from South America are strongly requested, but South America is extremely well represented now in the game with most of the large species specific to the continent. A few small monkeys are missing, which, due to their size, would not even be too visible in the game, being more suitable for the exhibition mechanics. Europe and Asia do not yet have their own defining species: Saiga (NA had, since the launch of the game, Pronghorn), Takin, Gaur, Yak, Muskox, Markhor, European Bison, Wild Boar, Roe deer, Chamois, Mouflon and even the European Brown Bear, which is much smaller and thinner than the Grizzly. They are not so exotic for those who live in the northern hemisphere, but they define the fauna of the area where they live and many are animals with a unique appearance.
It is hard to understand the hatred and rejection of the presence of such species in the game!

Man i sure hope next year wont be all cold climate.
Im not sure im gonna survive yet another year without a monkey :D
Right, well, surely if we continue to get even 2 more packs we'll get something for South America. There's no doubt in my mind that as far as the mammalian roster goes, it's the continent that is most on the minds of the more vocal of us here. So that's a non-cold pack. In fact I can only imagine that'll be the Spring pack.

Feeling like if we get 4 packs next year the final pack will be a finale/around the world/etc pack. It could be a Tundra pack focusing on North America/Europe though. Summer and Fall are more in play - Fall sounds right for Alpine....leaving (in my ideal world) an African Safari. I know it's yet another Africa centric pack but there's still plenty they could work with - Honey Badger (we're gonna need to fulfill the Troublemaker Trio started with the Devil and Wolverine), Secretary Bird and so forth....

So if we get four packs next year, we can look at it this way. This year focused on Africa/Oceania/Asia (with a bit of Europe added in). Next year focuses on South/Central America/Africa (again but see above)/North America/Europe and a wild card pack like the Tropics was for 2023 (the Alpine pack).

Just a theory. In my little brain that all works out perfectly which means it'll probably be completely upended tomorrow.

@ro - apologies to completely disagree, but South America is NOT extremely well represented. At all.You mentioned the monkeys which is definitely the biggest lack there, but even removing those, South America still falls behind in terms of representation.

I get that you are from Europe?

Well i'm from South America and i can tell you that it is not extremely well represented in game.

That doesn't invalidate the need for more northern animals. There are a lot of good ones that i want like musk ox, chamois, markhor, sea otter, etc.

But as long as the rhea, ocelot, coati and at least two of the bigger monkeys are missing (howler, spider) SA is far from well represented. Rheas are extremely common both in the wild and in zoos plus Patagonia has basically no animals so far (with patagonian mara being another useful addition but not as essential as the rhea), the small jungle cats are a key element of SA and CA biomes and there are tons of species and a lot are common in zoos so they are a need as well, coatis are very widespread from south to central america and also common in zoos and i don't even need to get into why the SA/CA monkeys AND birds are so important.

Honestly everyone is upset about getting sloth bear instead of specacled but it is not even the most important animal missing from SA and it won't do much in terms of representation. I still want it though.

Maybe I'm just interpreting it differently, but the response here doesn't seem all that negative. Most people are sort of ok with the pack and have at least one animal they're excited about. As usual, most people have one animal they are a bit less than neutral towards.

A lot of people, myself included, were hoping for birds, at least one monkey, and better SA representation. There is still a chance for the first two to turn up in the pack. The collective demand for them has been greater than anything hinted at so far, and some disappointment is understandable. However, non-SEA still needs hoofstock and a few other things to feel complete. We might be getting some stuff out of order, but filling out South and East Asia are still good priorities. I'm not jumping for joy, but the lineup seems decent so far. I'm hoping for at least one more of my favorites (yay, wolverine!) or a monkey or bird to make this a great pack instead of just a good one, but good is still good.

It seems that you love the species of your continent. This forum proves that this does not really happen with those who live in the northern hemisphere.

The Northern Hemisphere is as exotic and unlike where I come from as it gets. That makes all of their wildlife infinitely more interesting to me! I’ve been desperate for more Arctic/taiga/tundra/woodland/mountain animals, and now we’ll be getting at least 4 species that were high on my wishlist.

I love that the December pack is kind of tied to Christmas and winter (even here in Australia we decorate with snowflakes and sing about snowmen… while we’re at the beach in 35 degree heat). It means that the December pack is almost obliged to have some exotic northern species.

Edit to add: to anyone living in those regions, I am so jealous! I wish I could take my camera and go snap some shots of deer or bears or snowy owls. I’m stuck with cockatoos, kangaroos and ducks 🤣

I'm from the North Hemisphere. I'd be good if we didnt get any more animals from North America and Europe. South American animals are definitely lacking in game for literally the most biodiverese region on land.

How many large and representative animals for South America are missing in the game, apart from the Rhea, Coati and Howler monkey, mentioned by NachoB?

Hey now, I make a living photographing those ducks 😅

I know what you mean tho, I have a dream to do a worldwide wildlife photography tour

Again it's opinion but heres what essential to me:

Spectacled Bear
Black Howler Monkey
Golden-Lion Tamarin
Greater Rhea
South American Coati
Geoffery's Spider Monkey
Ocelot
Patagonian Mara
Southern Tamandua

The first one (a shedding bighorn sheep) chased me around Glacier asking for my chips. I bumped into the wild turkey family on a hike on the east coast. May I see a kangaroo or a cockatoo?

A lot of South American species are common globally too, which contributes to the appeal of a second DLC devoted to them imo. Any focus on Europe and North America is going to cater to players specifically in those regions, especially since most of the common species have been added.
