Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Australian agreeing that SA feels lacking in the game. Ocelot, Tamandua, Patagonian Mara, Spider Monkies, marmosets, and spectacled bear come to mind for me
Not too many, not too representative and well known for South America, mostly small species. Asia and Europe are still very deficient in the game for large, representative species.

The first one (a shedding bighorn sheep) chased me around Glacier asking for my chips. I bumped into the wild turkey family on a hike on the east coast. May I see a kangaroo or a cockatoo?

Here's a Galah (cockatoo subspecies) and a roo :)

But why do the species have to be large to be important? In some place the animals just are on average smaller, like SA or oceania
They are not only large, they are also extremely representative of Asia and Europe and are missing in the game, while most representative and well-known species from South America are already in the game.

Animals in tropical rainforests are just general smaller. The foliage is so dense its hard for large hoofstock to traverse these environments. Large size alone doesn't instantly make an animal interesting to most people.

... South America is extremely well represented now in the game with most of the large species specific to the continent. A few small monkeys are missing, which, due to their size, would not even be too visible in the game, being more suitable for the exhibition mechanics. Europe and Asia do not yet have their own defining species: Saiga (NA had, since the launch of the game, Pronghorn), Takin, Gaur, Yak, Muskox, Markhor, European Bison, Wild Boar, Roe deer, Chamois, Mouflon and even the European Brown Bear, which is much smaller and thinner than the Grizzly. They are not so exotic for those who live in the northern hemisphere, but they define the fauna of the area where they live and many are animals with a unique appearance.
It is hard to understand the hatred and rejection of the presence of such species in the game!
I've got nothing against Eurasian species, but arguing that SA is better represented?.... First time i've seen anyone try to make that claim.

Most bigger European and NA species are also within the Game. Europa Misses its Wild Boar whereas NA Misses its American Black Bear. You could discuss about the need of the Wisent for Europe or something Like the Wapiti or White Tailed Deer for NA. But furthermore the big species are also within the game.

In General I do Not Like These continetal need discussions. For me there are species which are more interesting and there which are less interesting. That is my only important Point for Putting an animal on my Wishlist. No matter how it is regionally distributed, how its closer relatives are already within the Game and no matter how often it is kept within Zoos.

What species are missing from the well-known and representative ones for South America? The jaguar, the anteater, the llama, the puma, the maned wolf, the sloth, the tapir, the capybara?

Europe has Grizzly as a specific bear, Timber wolf as European wolf, American bison as European bison. Of course, from this perspective it is WELL represented with iconic species!

A lot of already already shared our lists the previous page . All of us being from different places around the globe wanting the SAME species. That's when you know somethings up! 😂 Take notes Frontier! 📝 😉

The Northern Hemisphere is as exotic and unlike where I come from as it gets. That makes all of their wildlife infinitely more interesting to me! I’ve been desperate for more Arctic/taiga/tundra/woodland/mountain animals, and now we’ll be getting at least 4 species that were high on my wishlist.

I love that the December pack is kind of tied to Christmas and winter (even here in Australia we decorate with snowflakes and sing about snowmen… while we’re at the beach in 35 degree heat). It means that the December pack is almost obliged to have some exotic northern species.

Edit to add: to anyone living in those regions, I am so jealous! I wish I could take my camera and go snap some shots of deer or bears or snowy owls. I’m stuck with cockatoos, kangaroos and ducks 🤣
Sorry to tell you buy after visiting other countries I learnt that they sadly have duck too. No matter where you go, the ducks will always Follow.

OK. But on this forum there are only those who want to impose their own choices regarding the animals they want and discuss fluently in English. There are, I think, many players from Asia who probably don't feel comfortable posting on this forum. To consider that the majority choices made by those in the forum represent the choices of all active players and must be imposed, seems exaggerated to me.

That's legit all I want from Oceania now. I need but little reptile house and nocturnal house animals.

As well as, people keep saying Oceania dosent need anymore birds cause it's got 4 which is considerably better then Other places bit still. Their litterally all ratites and a penguin, I need like a galliforme or something. Honestly every continent needs at least one galliforme.

Totally agree that some people are on here imposing their choices.

Kind of like insisting South America has “excellent representation” and not taking anyone’s perfectly legitimate lists or examples seriously by disregarding them all as “too small” or “not representative.”

Oceania for me is just the least bad region when it comes to birds. Even on a global level there still is the black swan which is incredibly common. And to me easily among the essential animals.

Yeah currently it is. It's just that I've seen others saying that it dosent need anymore period aside from the occasional crowned pigeon suggestion.

Australia itself has some great and vibrant species that I feel like at least one is needed to have a proper Temperate Australia section. Something like the black swan, a Magpie goose, a bush turkey or a lyrebird.
