Like I said, SRV racing is more popular than one might think. CQC isn't a great example because that was a solution to a problem that didn't really exist, when it comes to SRV racing, there are regular meetings and races that have created a need from within the game that is seeking a solution.
As far as other racing games go, you are completely correct, but it isn't as relevant as it might seem, there are Minecraft servers hosting thousands of players who engage in PVP, and racing, as can be seen by
this video, which is interesting in the way that they recreated a real-life track in Minecraft, which, if the tools were available in Elite to do with Base-building would also be possible, and a lot more fun I might add.
BTW; I know some hate the SRV but I love it, and drviing around in it feels like an open world
Stunt Car Racer. With the variability of gravity and settings, it's not a huge surprise that players of Elite who are also racing fans take to it IMO.
