Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

It's only competition if they are addressing the same player base, which they don't. No PC player that already plays PZ will buy the console edition.
There might be more overlap between JWE2 and PZ players and they never bother about releasing DLCs close to each other there.

Why is a finale pack "not happening" now? I feel like it's a very reasonable possibility. Not like 50 NEW ANIMALS FOR THE LOW PRICE OF $14.99!!!
But something bigger, like they usually do with their games sounds possible, if not probable if this is indeed the last DLC.

That’s true, but I assumed the new DLC would be available across all platforms.

yeah, at extreme most I can see 21. That's only to get them to the "over 200" animal mark. Same for 20 animals, rounding it out to 200 animals. It's much much more likely that at best we'll get 15 animals, and more likely 12 animals, or 8 and a scenery pack. Of course, that all assumes just 1 more DLC. If it's 2 more I think getting to 20/21 more animals total is completely possible.

It's absolutely happening, no reason not to.

I think talk about it not happening comes from place of disappointment in game so far or disappointment in the game ending, but it's based on nothing objective.

Planet Zoo will get treatment the other games got

That is what I’m divided on, if this is the last dlc are we actually gonna go out with bang? Is it taking more time because it’s gonna be the biggest single content dlc we have received yet? Is it gonna have the most diverse group of animals, or animals the community is asking for.

Or is Frontier focused on console so much the dlc is just taking more time due to a split team.

What if the spring DLC isn't the last Grand Finale pack? Maybe the final pack would come later in the summer and be dedicated to community favorites from around the world.

I have a feeling that the Spring DLC will be a regular animal pack, sort of mirror image of the Eurasia pack but for Americas.

Spectacled Bear (sloth bear)
Canada Goose (swan)
Musk Ox (wisent)
Ocelot (wolverine)
Vicuna (takin)
Southern Pudu (saiga)
G. Rhea (boar) - here I didn't really know, we have the peccary so I chose Rhea. In both cases animals are useful but similar to species we already have in game

This is just my own thinking of course and Frontier will do whatever Frontier is going to do and any theme is technically possible. But if it's a scenery pack, I can't see how it won't be either a Central America pack or a Woodlands/Boreal pack focusing on North America. Latin America would be too encompassing to not be an animal pack. If we do have more than just a finale type of DLC coming, I am 99% sure that one of the two would be something focusing on all or some of Latin America.

So if they keep to a scenery pack they can knock out 5 Central American animals which will also mostly have some South American representation, negating the need for a full Latin American animal pack. On the other hand, if they're planning a Latin American animal pack and intend to leave that for the summer, Woodlands/Boreal makes sense for the spring spot. It would give us some North American focus after last year had a total of 2 animals from it, the Peccary and the Wolverine. But...where would that leave animals like the Baboon, Secretary Bird, etc. Would they just not make it in at all (which is possible of course), or would Frontier actually be working on DLC for the rest of 2024?

So my thoughts on the next pack(s) (-- is not either/or, just the symbol for flowing to the next pack in order of what I think is likely.

A: Central America Scenery Pack -- Finale/Wrap Up/World Tour/Whatever you wanna call it.
B: Latin America animal pack -- Finale
C: Woodlands/Boreal scenery pack -- Latin America animal pack
D: Woodlands/Boreal scenery pack -- Latin America animal pack --- 1 or 2 more packs for 2024 including a Finale pack

i mean i'm not opposed to an Americas animal pack but not with that roster dear god.

Out of My top 5 animals from SA that i want and i can be ok not being in the pack is the ocelot. The mod is very good. And even though my prefered choice for a monkey is the black howler i would be fine with other monkey species as well. But coati, rhea and mara are must have for me. I do want another bird as well though Scarlet ibis, spoonbill or Brown pelican. Burrowing owl would be so fun as well and just like the spoonbill and the pelican it's range covers both NA and SA.

Vicuña and pudu are choices i like but not now with the end of the game so close and probably one last chance at getting southamerican fauna. I want the wants that are the most popular, versatile, useful and iconic.

This was my original idea before I knew of the last pack potentially being the last.

It really depends what the approach they take on this is.
They could decide to do dedicated continent packs for NA and SA just like the last 3 packs, but I think since NA doesn’t really need a full on pack the more logical method would be to do a Central America Scenery pack, get a Caribbean building set that maybe it’s not needed but can still bring a lot new, and cross off 5 SA species (a roster off the top of my head would be:
  • Spider Monkey (I will continue to fight for this guy to make it in)
  • Coati
  • Brown Pelican
  • Bush Dog / Agouti
  • Eyelash Viper (E)
Now that the SA fanbase has settled a bit, a 10 animal (9 habitat 1 exhibit) finale pack that adds a couple more SA animals like the Mara and Rhea / Spectacled Bear, and also add in NA species like Walrus and Musk Ox.

Ah, the ocelot. That and the Rhea are the two I'm not particularly caring if we get or not, but yet am okay with them being in the pack. Indeed, I'm pretty sure the Ocelot is almost guaranteed if we get a Latin America themed pack. What is nice about it, it's a small cat for an area we don't have a small cat, and its range includes South America, Central America and even some of North America. So it's got that going for it as well. But if it were to be subbed out for say the Brazilian Porcupine I'd be ecstatic.
