Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

I'm not sure is going to be a bigger DLC. Is just getting delayed because all resources are focus on consolé. If there is just a skeleton crew working on the DLC it will take longer to reléase so i would not expect something outside of the ordinary.
I think chances are very high that the people who worked on the console version are not the same developers as the ones that have been working on Planet Zoo so far, simply because those would be less likely to have or still have (active) experience with the console side of things. Most likely the console devs are either a separate group of people within Frontier or an external group of devs they hire specifically for this kind of stuff.

The whole "bigger DLC" thing is based on both Planet Coaster and JWE1 receiving bigger DLCs as a finisher, and as @Doran at one point pointed out, somewhere in one of the financial videos they said that's their preferred way of ending support for a game.

Good question: The new dlc or new dlcs (if we have more) would come in the season pass?
Of course it will. They're just not going to mention the DLC's they haven't announced yet, pretty much how they also didn't announce that PZ console was going to be featured in the first monthly recap until the day the console version was announced.

Kind of like this for me really

Dream Latin America Pack:
Black Howler Monkey
Guianan Squirrel Monkey
Brazilian Porcupine
Spectacled Bear
Scarlet Ibis
White Nosed Coatimundi
Patagonian Mara
Golden Lion Tamarin (E)

Nightmare Latin America Pack:
Greater Rhea
Ocelot
Brazilian Tapir
Vicuna
Chocoan Peccary
American Flamingo
Lesser Capybara
another giant centipede (E)

Realistic Latin America Pack
Spectacled Bear
Howler Monkey
Ocelot
Coatimundi species
Greater Rhea
Patagonian Mara
American Flamingo
Two toed Sloth species (WTE)

Also here is what I think could be a cool oddball for South America:

The Arrau turtle, also known as the South American River Turtle has a shell that is 3.5 feet long and it gets up to 200 pounds! I think it could make for a cool habitat animal, and be our first habitat turtle and second turtle species in the game.

Even in the AZA SAFE program turtles are one of the species being mentioned, so I think it would be cool to get another turtle in game.
I’ve been hoping for the Arrau Turtle for a while. But after the Hermann’s Tortoise being put in The Box, I’m not too confident about it being implemented as a habitat animal :(

I see your Arrau turtle and raise you one Pig Nosed.

The pignoses problem is that its functionally fully aquatic. They can barely move around on land, and like sea turtles the only reason they would do so is to lay eggs.
Similar situation on why we likely will never see snapping turtles or giant salamanders as habitat animals, these can traverse land somewhat compentantly but rarely if ever do so willingly. So having any of these shuffle around on land for the amount of time the crocodilian, seals and other semi aquatic animals do in PZ would look just so bizarre.
So arrau is proably the best bet for habitat turtles.

I mean i personally wouldnt mind them since i only play sandbox and always turn of the animals needs, so i would just block them off from leaving the water.

I coulda swore they went on land, but yeah you're right they don't unless they are in nesting season. I'm off this turtle train then.
Forget a turtle, the red footed tortoise is the supreme choice

"Looks like we got competition."

As much as i want a smaller habitat tortoise i think it prefer the arrau over them.
But how cool would it be to have both the red footed and arrau. Both are perfect for SA tropical houses and the turtle especially has some cool interesting options for mixed species exhibits with the caimans

Yes to both the Arrau river turtle and the red footed tortoise. If i have to choose just one then it would be the turtle. Is something different from what we have and they would be great for mixed wetlands/tropical enclosures.

Hugely support the Arrau river turtle! Generally feel like large freshwater turtles would add so much to the game. This is another opportunity to pitch my eternal pick which is the oddest oddball: Indian narrow-headed softshell turtle.

Supporting documents from my post in the oddball thread:
Also known as Indo-Gangetic softshell turtle or small-headed softshell turtle, because it is one of the largest species of turtle but has a ridiculous small head that makes for one of the most unique morphologies. It has unique digging and swimming behaviors, and an important conservation story as an endangered turtle that benefits from tons of captive breeding. San Diego Zoo became the first accredited institution in the US to hatch these turtles in 2022, and houses them with India's other oversized, endangered prehistoric relic: the gharial. Adding these would be a realistic boost to India as well as the generic "tropical Asian river" roster with its otter, buffalo, gharial, and water monitor. Some large-bodied life for all that underwater space.

And photos of epic, ungodly, unbridled oddness:

Knowing Frontier's desperate need to surprise us somehow, I am bit anxious to see, how many players including me really want a Latin America/South America Animal Pack. It makes totally sense for me to fill up the roster of zoo animals from this area, because even after 16 DLCs it is not really possible to build a big South American zoo in Planet Zoo and a lot of iconic zoo animals from South America are definetly missing.
So please Frontier: This time please just listen to us! Coatis, New World Monkeys and Tamarins, Mara, Spectacled Bear, maybe some birds like Nandu, Scarlet Ibis or even Hummingbirds for WTE: it's well deserved after 4 years of waiting!

I’m sure Frontier wants to surprise us, the thing is I just don’t know how they will do it.

Will they give us the meta wishlist animals we are looking for?
Will they give us the South American animals we have been waiting for?
Will we get the birds, monkeys, rodents, and other underrepresented habitat animal groups in the final dlc?
Will the final dlc be bigger than 8 animals and scenery?

Obviously way too many questions, and also taking into account this is the last dlc, it’s likely not everyone will be happy.

Still, I want to be hopeful and believe. I’m sure I’m probably gonna like the pack, whatever it is.

I’m also gonna go against the grain and say I might prefer the final pack being dedicated to Central/ South America. The more I think about it, it really is the region that deserves it the most. Granted, that’s assuming the pack would also have the monkeys, birds, rodents, and reptiles I would be hoping for.

Though if we get a meta wishlist focused all around the world pack I would be very happy too. I still stand by the fact for NA I want the ABB and some birds, but I recognize it might not come at this point. At least the modding scene is great!
