Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

One region which basically never gets discussed when it comes to new scenery is Africa, we have two packs... One for North Africa and one which is a general mix of all of Sub-Saharan Africa. I get other regions probably need priority for scenery but considering how culturally rich Africa is, it could definitely have more. I specifically think East Africa has a lot of potential. Considering how many African animals we have, it would be nice to have some more themed pieces to use instead of using the same ones over again.

Firstly, Ethiopia is one of the oldest civilisations on Earth and they have quite a unique style (best way I could describe it is a mix of European, Middle Eastern and African) that could work for a Mountain or Shrubland pack:

Secondly, an idea I had for a Coastal pack - Since the popular options were always Caribbean or Polynesian (and we got the latter and the former is more popular for a Latin American pack now) I thought an African option had good potential. Specifically the Swahili Coast of Africa and Zanzibar which have a long history with influence from Arabia while still having a traditional and distinct African feel. Best way I can describe it is a mix of African, Middle Eastern and Oceanian:

Himalayan Brown Bear NOT in bottom 50. EZ.
PZ community seemingly dislike primates and ungulates more than it 🤣

The majority of animals being exhibit animals do really is unsurprising and imo its pretty unfair to have them compete against habitat animals.

The wild boar being near the end didnt surprise me honestly, only europeans seemed to be wanting it and everybody else hated it :D. What is surprising to me is that the peccary is even lower than the boar.
I am not European but welcomed the boar. It wasn’t on my wish list but certainly didn’t “hate” it. A much better choice than many other animals we’ve had.

This list wasn't about what people use or want; it was picking your 20 favorite animals in the game. Lists like that are going to be filled with classic zoo stars, cute small mammals, horses, dogs, and cats.
Also, and this takes away nothing of the effort that Delady has done for this survey, but statistically this survey represents her audience first and foremost and not the Planet Zoo community. No matter the amount of people that filled in the survey, without more data behind those numbers there's no real way to find out how much overlap there is between her audience and the actual players of the game. You'd need a steam connection to get real factual data behind that.

So any conclusion drawn based on that survey regarding the entire community, whether it ends up being true or false, it has to be taken with a huge grain of salt. It's pretty much impossible to really draw any statistically sound conclusions based on that survey.

Again, this is not a jab or anything and it isn't meant to devaluate the survey at all; it's just that it's incredibly hard to get good statistics out of any community and without the right background and tools, it's even harder.

From Ethiopia there's some interesting stuff, though I feel like Andean probably has more potential/relevance for a Highlands pack (Ethiopia is also not a stable part of the world, it's hard to even do image searches without that being obvious)

Zanzibar is fine, maybe a little limited if not including other places, though I'm guessing tropical island sets might be getting oversaturated.

It So Cool It Evolved Twice.
No it didn't. That isn't how evolution or speciation works. It's a fun meme but nobody should take it literally.

Anyway, I was just at my local zoo today and it made me wonder if there was any news regarding our mystery final DLC, but I guess not.

Having one pack left is rather frustrating. I want a new New World monkey, but I also want a baboon. It's unlikely we'll get both.

It Basically Did. Just A Bit Of Exaggeration. It is An Example Of Iterative Evolution: A natural process of de-extinction is iterative evolution. This occurs when a species becomes extinct, but then after some time a different species evolves into an almost identical creature.

Would a Raven be OK?
Not my first choice but I think I would definitely by happy with a Raven. It would fit the spirit of the Twilight pack so I would definitely find a place for it in my park.
But a macaw or a toucan is more interesting for a zoo. I mean ask a child what kind of bird he expects to see in a zoo and I bet the answer will be parrot/macaw in 95% of the cases.

Speaking of scenery, what are pieces yall would definetly want before supports end?
All Animal Reward Statues

More animal statues in the shape of bushes like (Giraffe - Elephant - Rhinoceros. Bear)

Only one editable flag

Carousel - Tobban - Swing

Individual toilet with roll of paper and sink

A pyramid as a plan

2 cars

Triangular and curved mesh

Animal skeletons

More stuffed animals

A teepee as a plan

Wired cable

Small circular beam

I know there are mods. But I really wish it was in the game itself.

Am I the only one who wouldn't mind if we got a WTE bird before the game ends? I would rather get a bird of some sort like a macaw or toucan than a second sloth or another exhibit box animal which are mostly useless to me.
I"m so torn on this. If they gave us several macaws similar to how they did butterflies, I'd appreciate that at least. I do realize Macaws are not just cut/paste/recolor like the butterflies, but I think it'd be a low amount effort enough to give us several species.

But even then, I'd be sad for the lack of other flying birds - eagles, toucans, cockatoos, hornbills and owls specifically. Like, knowing they could do it but aren't would be a gripe.

If it were just one bird, I think that would be the worst case scenario for me honestly, even if it was the Bald Eagle (my most wanted animal period, even though I don't include it anywhere anymore because I've come to terms with no birds). Just one exhibit bird would feel so out of place and weird. I'd honestly rather have none at all than one.
