Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

They've been updating it but the key outsource file hasn't been updated yet. So that doesn't really mean much WRT the next DLC. It's probably them working on the franchise and gift shop issues TBH.

Nobody's guessing as to when the financial year starts and ends... It's listed as May 31 right on their web site. And its in the financial docs. :)

The presentation was pretty explicit. It lists "Planet Zoo PDLC" under the "H2 FY24 New content/Platforms" heading. With "FY25 New Game Releases" below it referencing F1 Manager and the own-IP CMS game. So something is definitely coming for PZ before end of May.

I do wonder if it'll be late April or early May at this point. Would be quite a bit later than usual but... That would make sense if it's a bigger and final pack.

In looking at the slide again, though, I also find it interesting that they don't list any PDLC for anything. It's just new games. The header just even just lists new game releases (which means there was no spot on that slide for new PDLC). Probably doesn't mean anything. But I still find it real strange they didn't bother to list PDLC for any games when they would almost definitely have at least one PDLC for that new CMS game during FY25.
It will for sure be april-may to avoid overlap on the social for the console release makes the most marketing sense. I find it weird that no pdlc for any game or any other form of support other than new titles being mentions for next finnancial year this to me seems like nothing is certain or they dont want to reveal too much that is uncertain.

Nah completly Unnessecary.
Tease in the forums and then just release with a post here and dum dum dum on steam like allways.
Doesnt matter who you are and if you engage with the forums or not, if you spend any time on steam you will be see the notification on the new update and dlc and are notified.
Social media does console and dlc is handled by the forum and steam and everyone is notified without any overlap in advertisement
only the really dedicated members of the community read the forums and not everyone plays the game via steam. Besides that steams notification system is bad eeverything gets the same priority so unless I click on the header I cant easily tell whats a new dlc and what is a new community challenge for instance also steams date order is weird ill sometimes get posts marked as new when their a months old its unrelaible.
Traditional marketing on social media platforms is important to both pc and console even if they have very different audiences we are all looking at the same places for our information.

I would love to wait another month! TBH I actually have a lot more faith the final pack will be something cool if we wait longer. Frontier is spending more time cooking.

(Or they are 100% focused on console and will rush something together after, which I doubt and I want to be hopeful still)

I’m hopeful it ends up being 1 more animal from each DLC with picks that are from the META Wishlist and SA leaning. But it could just be whatever they had already made for previous packs that didn’t make the cut. I can imagine they worked on other animals and decided to not include them in packs in favor of others.

That would be interesting, the final pack has 1 animal from each pack. What animals do you think that could be?

North America: Alaskan sea otter

-
I think this could be a nice lineup.

We've done this before in another topic but choices keep changing depending on what i feel is more important at the moment.

Deluxe: Patagonian mara
Arctic: Musk ox
South America: Howler Monkey
Australia: Short-beaked echidna or Perentie
Aquatic: Brown pelican
SEA: any Muntjac that lives in this area
Africa: Secretary bird
North America: American black bear OR wild turkey. Boring options but the most iconic of the habitat animals missing. Would love the sea otter instead though.
Europe: Cappercaillie (i think Europe needs another bird and this one is more interesting than the stork for me)
Wetlands: Mandarin duck
Conservation: Grey crowned crane
Twilight: Aye-aye
Grasslands: Greater rhea
Tropical: South American coati
Arid: Hamadryas baboon
Oceania: Goodfellow's tree kangaroo or Victoria's crowned pigeon (personal favorite, but tree roo would be the best choice because of high demand)
Eurasia: Palla's cat

And think we deserve at least one exhibit animal (cobra) and one for WTE ( macaws or hummingbirds pls).

Reading my own list i realize how impossible it is lol

Just 2 ungulates, 3 carnivores, 3 primates, 1 marsupial, 1 monotreme, 1 rodent and the rest are birds 😂

I’ll also try myself:

  • Deluxe: American flamingo
  • Arctic: musk ox
  • South America: black howler monkey
  • Australia: echidna
  • Aquatic: Walrus
  • Southeast Asia: tree kangaroo
  • Africa: secretary bird
  • North America: burrowing owl
  • Europe: great white pelican
  • Wetlands: white faced whistling duck
  • Conservation: golden lion tamarin
  • Twilight: reeves muntjac
  • Grasslands: grey crowned crane
  • Tropical: scarlet ibis

  • Eurasia: Pallas cat
I tried my best to give everyone a little something, if it was 100% up to me it would all be birds with some monkeys. But I wanted to make it balanced and fair.

I would imagine there is a backlog of basic models and maybe rigs per DLC (probably not skins or animations), they are animals after all, there's no extra designing process like the JWEs, that said, it would make sense to have used them in DLCs already at some point if appropriate. I would suspect the Arid pack might be founded on backlog from the Africa, Conservation & Grassland packs for example.

As to what models they natively have, a good chunk would probably be hoofstock and carnivores, being relatively quick to base on existing models, though the same could be said of any variants of existing types (penguins probably being least likely to have backlog remaining, with South America & Aquatic being early on, with no further candidacy).

If you could pick any 4 DLCs to get a direct sequel, which would you pick & what would they have in them? (same name, but flipped from Animal to Scenery, or Scenery to Animal)
  1. South America Animal Pack: Rhea, Spectacled Bear, Mara, Ocelot, Howler Monkey, Tamandua, Tamarin(s), Macaws/Toucans in WE
  2. North America Pack: Black Bear, American Flamingo, Geoffroy's Spider Monkey, Bighorn Sheep, Eagles/Owls in WE, NW Coast First Nations and Cabin Scenery
  3. Tropical Animal Pack: Tree Kangaroo, Short Beaked Echidna, South American Coati, Guereza, Serval, Grey Langur, Blackbuck, Hornbills/Lorikeets in WE
  4. Aquatic Animal Pack: Pelican, Sea otter, Walrus, Manatee, Sea Turtle, Duck, Grey Crowned Crane, Hermit Crabs+a few aquatic critters/fish in 4x4

Thats a banger idear for a final pack, even if it gets more unrealistic with every new pack released.
My main draw would be that they would be forced to give us a varied mix atleast geographie and biome wise

This would be the best idea for the final pack if you want to do an all over the world theme! The only problem remains the difficulties to introduce enough SA animals in the said pack.

South america, Aquatic, Wetlands, Conservation, Twillight, Grasslands and Tropical are all potential chances for south american animals and aslong as we get coati, monkey and atleast one of mara and rhea SA would be in a fine spot to end on.
Nothing great but okay enough to build a zone for it and have some diversity to choose from.
Would we optiomally have atleast 4 primates and 2 or 3 more filler animals?
Yes but that just isnt really in the cards anymore unless we get 2 years of additional support, which is something no one is currently betting on

Here's what my selection would be. Already did this in another topic, but it was a while ago and most of my opinion changed since then.

Deluxe : Greater Rhea
Arctic : Sea Otter
South America : Geoffroy's Spider Monkey
Australia : Australian Pelican
Aquatic : West Indian Manatee
Southeast Asia : Black Headed Ibis
Africa : Grey-crowned Crane
North America : Wood Duck
Europe : European Mink
Wetlands : Père David's Deer
Conservation : Golden Lion Tamarin
Twilight : Northern Luzon Giant Cloud Rat
Grasslands : Patagonian Mara
Tropical : South American Coati
Arid : Hamadryas Baboon
Oceania : Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
Eurasia : Blackbuck
