Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

For us it would probably be Matthias Reinschmidt.
Oh gosh, please not...
That british guy (trhat I don't know) just seems a bit over the top, but it's not my kind of humor anyway.
Reinschmidt claims to be a professional and he said some things I can only raise my eyebrows at.

But anyway, yeah, they did spend money on the console advertimsement. Totally unneeded in my opinion.

I would love to wait another month! TBH I actually have a lot more faith the final pack will be something cool if we wait longer. Frontier is spending more time cooking.

(Or they are 100% focused on console and will rush something together after, which I doubt and I want to be hopeful still)
Definitely agree with you on the wait. I'm down to wait if it means more content... And for whatever it's worth, I'm assuming it'll be end of April or early May. That would give them more time (2-4 weeks depending) to really get the DLCs going.

If they release at the end of May it won't help the Q4 numbers for FY24 as much.

I’m hopeful it ends up being 1 more animal from each DLC with picks that are from the META Wishlist and SA leaning. But it could just be whatever they had already made for previous packs that didn’t make the cut. I can imagine they worked on other animals and decided to not include them in packs in favor of others.
This is low-key a really fun concept! Not sure how they'd package it or what they'd label it as but... I love it. 16 animals feels on the cusp of what I'd consider "reasonable" for a bigger pack, and if anything was indeed cut previously for any reason it might decrease the workload starting from pre-existing assets.

Arctic: Walrus
South America: Coati
Australia: Australian frilled lizard
Aquatic: Atlantic puffin
Southeast Asia: Southern serow or muntjac
Africa: Olive baboon
North America: NA black bear
Europe: Pine marten
Wetlands: NA river otter or a duck
Conservation: Golden lion tamarin
Twilight: Ocelot
Grasslands: Secretary bird
Tropical: Mantled colobus
Arid: Burrowing owl
Oceania: Matschie's tree kangaroo
Eurasia: Pallas' cat or markhor

Pieces would basically just be a bunch of generic zoo props (e.g., backstage stuff including pieces pulled from staff facilities; turnstiles and gates; parking lot decals; cars/trucks/carts; hot wire for fencing; hay bales; and so on), a path designed to be a raised sidewalk, and more foliage.

If you could pick any 4 DLCs to get a direct sequel, which would you pick & what would they have in them? (same name, but flipped from Animal to Scenery, or Scenery to Animal)
I don't care what anybody says: This is a fun exercise. Haha.
  1. South America Animal Pack: Coati (headliner), black howler monkey, spectacled bear, ocelot, patagonian mara, golden lion tamarin, and tamandua plus macaws and toucans (WTE)
  2. Tropical Animal Pack: Matschie's tree kangaroo (headliner), bush dog, scarlet ibis, cotton-top tamarin, cacomistle, blackbuck, hornbills plus piranhas (new aquatic exhibit type)
  3. North America Scenery Pack: NA black bear (headliner), NA porcupine, NA river otter, mallard duck + hummingbirds as WTE with woodlands/cabin scenery (and 2 new enrichment items for otters: crab/fish feeder puzzle and a slide)
  4. Twilight Animal Pack: Aye-aye (headliner), muntjac, cloud rat, ringtail, aardwolf, owl monkey, sugar glider + great horned owl (non-WTE)
I'm only going to do three because of timing but honestly... If it ended with these three? I would be extraordinarily happy anyway. Hah. These all feel pretty unrealistic (especially that last one) but it would be amazing to me. Hah.

Literally this.
Team is hard working on best console launch possible right now. Been said during FU stream and on new video.
Besides steamdb updates slowed down and there is no sign for it coming soon either. Focus is on console not PC.
Btw best part we have never talked about, of all those people screaming for a console release, how many wanted a ps5 release?
A ps5 is equally as expensive as a decent pc so i doubt many people will get a ps5 for a worse version compared to pc.
Maybe im thinking to far into it, but how many people own a ps5 without owning a decent pc aswell?
I mean i hope frontier will turn a profit but ehh i dont believe that there are that many people that check all 3 boxes of wants planet zoo, has no pc and has a ps5

To me it feels like it's been forever since Eurasia pack.
Well yeah three months. Is quite a long time.

Northern (NA) scenery pack: american black bear, musk ox, sea otter, Brown pelican, ex: alligator snapping turtle.
Endangered Species (Conservation) animal pack: secretary bird, grey crowned crane, Golden lion tamarin, goodfellow tree kangaroo, black footed ferret, aye-aye (or a spider monkey; yes i've gone crazy 3 monkeys total), Ex: i wanted to use a chameleon here but the most notable species are not endangered so select whatever endangered lizard you like.

That would be interesting, the final pack has 1 animal from each pack. What animals do you think that could be?
Arctic Pack - Musk Ox

Aquatic - Atlantic Puffin (personally I'd prefer Horned 😂)
Southeast Asia - Gaur
Africa - Southern Ground Hornbill

Wetlands - Mandarin Duck
Conservation - GLT
Twilight - Aye - Aye
Grasslands - Secretary Bird/ Grey Crowned Crane
Tropical - Scarlet Ibis

Eurasia - Markhor

For a lot of non-tech savy people, it's a choice of which to upgrade. Do you go for the console that's going to be supported for x amount of years (8-9 years for the PS4), or a lower end gaming PC where it will play a percentage of games, with that percentage decreasing over time.

If you already have a bunch of PS4 games and a PS4, the decision to trade-up might be obvious. I do have doubts there's many that go straight to a PS5 without some investment already (It's expensive and the games are more expensive even when discounted, why would you want to get into that).

When it comes to off the shelf gaming PC models, PS5 does look cheaper, at least here in Australia.

If you have kids, knowing when they're gaming and when they're working is pretty useful in controlling gaming habits, something more obvious with consoles.

So no one wants to talk about this surprising collaboration right? Right?? RIGHT???
The absolute coincidence of seeing him on the planet zoo Instagram feed this morning after I was lucky enough to meet him in person yesterday!

For those who don't know he is a TV presenter over here in the UK who has been making nature shows for decades. He especially made some for younger audiences that definitely helped a lot of my generation get into nature and zoology. All around cool guy who's made lots of cool shows over the years.

Sounds like British Jack Hanna

Honestly surprised we haven’t touched on a petting zoo pack yet given we’re coming up on the spring pack.

Yeah i have female dalls and babirusas in mine for know.
But what i really meant is stuff you would actually see in a petting zoo on a regular basic, which we have a grand total of 0 animals of

My roster would be
-Shetland pony
-Dwarf goat
-Some kind of chicken or duck
-Rabbit
-Exhibit gets canceld because nothing fits aside fom budgies and stuff

Do you have any pictures?

ZT2 Keepers: rain or shine, mountain or valley, open ocean to dense jungle, I will complete my mission. LARGE ANIMAL FOOD BOWL #16 WILL BE FILLED ON MY ANCESTOR’S HONOR!!!!!!!!

PZ keepers: sorry boss I had to let the penguins die, a rock was in my way :(

Being serious I actually do agree with you, might as well expand on some current stuff.

Same conversations over and over again, huh? Alright then, what PZ opinion gets you this reaction?

And nothing about wishlists or "we don't need animal xyz", opinions ONLY about things in the game as is. I'll go first:
  • I like the lion.
  • Exhibit animals offer a necessary "art through restriction" element in comparison to the complete customizability of habitats.
  • There should be twice as many tutorials to address the game's inherent learning curve, especially for younger players.
I agree the lions fine however exhibits are too restricted most of the "art" people make with it is unrelated to the exhbit itself the walkthrough does a much better job at art through retrictions.
also there definetley should be more tutorials.
Independent of a DLC, what are your top 3 animal picks for each of the following areas? (or all of them if less than 3):
  • Caribbean
  • Indian subcontinent
  • Madagascar/Mascarenes/East African Islands
  • New Zealand/New Caledonia/Hawaii/Pacific islands (Oceania, excluding Australia)
  • Antarctic (including Subantarctic islands)
  • west indian mantee
  • blackbuck / any cobra
  • nile crocodile
  • kakapo
  • leopard seal
Am i the only one who doesnt know who he is?
probably a cultural thing he was part of a series of animal based bbc tv shows if you didnt watch british media you probably never heard of him. Interestingly I was just actually looking to go back and watch deadly 60 but its not in my region anymore.
