Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

Status for Cephei sector AV-Y b3…1500 demand met. Orion’s Ascension currently has 1623 samples for the system on board. Should be good in light of overall progress rate.

Meanwhile, I decided to have a bit of fun in Bormuninus overnight, giving a newly off the line AX FDL a run through the paces of Thargoid conflict. (Nobody but me throughout the whole thing.)

I left victorious, the Hydras didn't. And I'm reminded why soloing the final stage of those CZs is tiring because damn those Hydras are tough.

Thanks to the intrepid @EISENHORN01, all the Obamumbans are safe! Some nearby pilots are at HIP 20492 (24%) and many have moved over to HIP 20948 (18%), minding that the latter has a long Supercruise to reach the attacked port. Indeed Bormuninus (28%) has defenders one Maelstrom along, and over in Imperial space Bagalya (20%) is receiving help after the successful defence at Neites.

Very well done at Lyncis Sector WU-P b5-0 and Cephei Sector XO-A b3, where the M. Oya peripheral progress reaches 56%, placing it just over 1.5 days ahead for the purpose of this week. Relent not, for we need this Spire progress rate to continue next week when we will need the full 100%, such that the same amount would be closer to one day ahead. It will be difficult with the higher payloads needed, but it will buy us several weeks to attack the Titan!

Will you buy Scythe tissue samples or only Scouts?
Non-hostile Scythes reliably spawn in Kanus and give 100% limpet success rate (with 30fps).
Sadly the game does not actually allow carriers to buy scythe samples at this time - so, they'd have to be stored on personal carriers or transferred by the old, abandon / collector limpet method.

Okay, I will store them on my carrier then and drop to megaship on Thursday evening. I have 360 now, think I will get 800-1000 total by then, depending on how much time I can find for playing.

I will add a scythe buy order, too. In which signal sources do you find Scythes?
Scythes can be reliably spawned in Combat Aftermath Threat 4 (I haven't tried higher threats yet).
I can always find at least 2 such signals in Kanus with enough time for travel. There are no conflict zones in this system at present anyway, so I have to go for signals to work it.
Hardest part is travelling and getting interdicted by interceptor - I just have to tank the damage and low wake. Happens every single time.

In Combat Aftermath Threat 4 signal I do the following:
1) pick up an escape pod
2) wait 30-60 seconds
3) when "frame anomaly detected sounds" I drop the escape pod
4) 2-3 Scythes show up shortly followed by Scouts, although sometimes Scouts do not appear (when it first happened that pushed me to try sampling Scythes)
5) Scythes pick up escape pods, Scouts attack, I kill Scouts
6) Scythes ignore me killing Scouts or having any samples on board, after they pick up escape pods they just patrol in a 4km diameter circle, at steady speed of about 85 m/s
7) I park myself somewhere inside their patrol circle and do afk sampling, limpets come and go at every pass

Sometimes I do not even need to pick up a pod as Scythes are already there (but rarely).
Shooting Scouts goes completely ignored by Scythes and does not call reinforcements, but shooting Scythes turns them violent and calls reinforcements (interceptors).
It takes about 40 minutes to pick up 127 samples.
I checked in 90 fps and all limpets failed.
In 30 fps success rate is constant 100% though, probably has to do with Scythes floating at steady speed, unlike Scouts which keep maneuvering violently.

If you have a wingmate (or a second account), it makes this a lot easier since you can hold the same instance.

You will probably want to hang on to them longer than that for next week.

Spire progress counts up to 85%, but that's 85% total, not 85% spire-caused.

So if you hand in at the start of the week to get to e.g. 10%, then there's 85% spire progress, the total will be 85%, because the last 10% of spire progress won't do anything.
If you hand in after the 85% spire progress has happened, the total will be 95%.

Relent not, for we need this Spire progress rate to continue next week when we will need the full 100%
Though that wouldn't be essential, necessarily - it would leave an extra Control to start the week at 8 rather than 7, but it would be starting at >50% so if any further Control clearance were required it would get pushed over automatically as part of getting the other Spire to 85% (and ideally stopping there!) anyway

Well I can’t take all the credit, maybe 99% but not all. Looking for a new target probably going to move over to Bormuninus

Right here. Not recommended for beginner level, of course.

Self-repair stuff can be tossed out for extra hull/module reinforcement. So you might survive a Hydra or (maybe) Medusa a little better if caught in an unfortunate spot, but I sometimes prefer to have the option to fix up without needing to visit the port available. Just in case it is necessary or preferable to.

Indeed looks like a pro build for cold orbiting.. I have not yet managed to accomplish that with my Xbox controller (which I continued after the console profile transfer, because I am so much used to it). Resembles the old Gluttony Fang FDL builds, except for the modshards and the caustic sinks 🤔I like the FDL and tried to use it for Orthrus farming, but I get away better with the Krait 2

Moved operations to HIP18857, longer run into the station so getting interdicted far more but the most annoying part is though there’s a rescue ship 2 jumps away all the contracts are for 1 that’s 5 jumps away, severely lowering my runs per hr

only managed 6 successful runs tonight, roughly 800 souls rescued
had one loss luckily inward bound so no civilian losses
averaging 3 interdictions per run slowing me down somewhat
