Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

At this point I just want new animals lol
Here is my final guess:
  1. I do think we will get a monkey
  2. I do think we will get a baboon
  3. I think we will get at least two birds, one being the secretary bird at #1 I don’t know the other
  4. I’m gonna guess 1-2 ungulates
  5. I’m gonna guess 1-2 Carnivora
I’m not gonna say anything for exhibit/ WTE

Ill admit I am playing it super safe, but I am intentionally trying to think of what is realistic.

If they announce farm animals and playgrounds as free update imma laugh XD
I wanted such DLC but I am sure a lot of people will be angry or/and panicking this really means last pack. Though I just think it simply fits 'spring' topic to me.

Ah yes finally, the final countdown to my post dlc rant about frontier allways finding a way of turning my excitement into dissapointment
  1. Be me
  2. In between dlc release
  3. Trying to pass the time on the forum and start a conversation
  4. Where birds? That needs to be answered, I’ll make a pack for that.
  5. Hmm, I need to think of animals we don’t have in the game
  6. “Tropical aviary pack, yeah that’s exactly what I need for PZ!”
  7. Spend time trying to think of what animals fit what regions, what birds we don’t have, how to get the best diversity and representation in one pack. Also trying to be realistic with what Frontier can do.
  8. Make a pack that is super cool to me, really get into it.
  9. Fast forward a couple months, dlc is announced
  10. It is nothing how I, the main character of the universe and the most important customer in PZ history, would want it.
  11. MFW I am upset because the pack is nothing like how I expected it
  12. MFW I did this about 16 times
  13. MFW I realize I never learned
Though I will say. I agree with the general consensus where I find the packs we make are actually more fun than what we got 😬

Nah man, frontier just often manages to build a big obvious flaw into their packs, especally last year.
Tropical? Scenery, no South america
Arid? Africa exclusive, 5 ungulates, no baboon, no tortoise
Oceania? Imagine the continent known for crazy small animals perfect for exhibits but chooses a lackluster WTE nobody even heard of
Eurasia? Controversial in dedicating half the pack to europe, fails to make 3 non controversial asian animals with only the takin being non contested, dips on a perfect chance for a bird and monkey for ungulates and a bear

Im not saying packs i dreamed up are without their problems, but last years packs issues are so obvious that it takes active thinking about why that would have been a good decision, for example the fact that thx to arid north african areas are way more flexible and rebuildable then before, making the flaws much more apparent then the stenghts, which makes the decisions quite questionable

The idea of walkthrough Bat exhibits also strikes me as a pretty significant health risk (they can harbour all sorts of diseases without showing symptoms. For Fruitbats, Hendra virus comes to mind), I would be surprised if that sort of thing exists much in the western world.
German Zoos have some of them, for example in Wildpark Schwarze Berge and in Leipzig. You underestimate the vet care there is in a zoo.
Plus, I researched about the virus you mentioned. The (very few) cases that got infected with the virus all got infected due to a alternate host, like pigs.
And we're talking about animals that were bred for generation is a highly controlled enviorement, not wild animals catched from their natural habitat.

The sloth bear is easily the hardest for me to understand. I get that they wanted to throw a bone to india in the eurasia pack, which i think is definetly the right choice.
But the animal choice they chose for it is just so weird to me. India already had 3 bears to chose from, so giving it the 4fth one instead of blackbuck, langur or something is just so bizarre to me. Its wasnt even a super highly requested animal either. Although it was probably one of that took the most amount of effort.
Its like doing an americas pack and the SA representative is another caiman instead of literally anything else

On a more positiv note, it also doesnt take that much to make a pack worthwhile.

Just a few slamdunks can turn a mostly mediocre pack into a good one, just look at grasslands.
We got 3 carnivorans and the least interesting antelope possible, with the armadillo where i got mixed feelings and the 5 butterflies which are amazing but severly held back by the WTE and its flaws, with the only 2 animals id give above a 6/10 being the emu and the wallaby, which both are a clean 20/10, finally giving us the two most important australian species, especally for International zoos.
That was a real game changer for australian areas, even if it were the only banger inclusions they completly carry my perception of the pack.

Something as simple as adding 2 monkeys would easily carry an otherwise completly mid animal pack for me, same thing with a monkey + bird for a scenery pack + obviously the consistently great scenery.
But with frontier tendency even this quite low bar feels very uncertain, which is just sad
