For me its like I buy a Lamborghini. And they forgot to put in a wonderbaumIf you want to use that analogy it's like the dealer gives you a car that's supposed to have 600hp but due to mechanical problems it can only get 550hp.

Just wow sunshine you really are a case.
EVERYTHING has case and effect sunshine but keep you head stuck snugly in the sand - it's warmer there and reality is bloody cold.

I should not walk into this discussion. I knew I made a mistake by doing any comment here.
Iam sure sure that many didn't have intention to play the game in offline mode as most of us have internet. it actually take more bandwidth to reply to a forum like this than play the game in online solo mode. Modern games, nearly everyone , require internet connection.
Of course it affects a small amount of backers but during a game development things can change course. ive seen it in so many other game and this was not the first nor the last.
But I don't go berserk and accuse the company etc.
If you have been able to play the game during alpha and beta then an offline mode wouldn't be so much of an issue.
Issue for those that don't have internet connection yes, but iam so sure that most of the people that have posted here do have good internet connection.
Ive invested a lot of money in this game. And I knew from start its a risk, but I calculated with it that I might loose it. And so far they have not disappointed me as the content they promised is still there and will be in.
A tip , if you don't want to play this game and don't get a refund. Sell your account. Good time to do it as many still will buy it at release.
Now a judge has only to clarify if a beta actually is the game you purchased. I imagune you buying a brand new car, the dealer gives you a tire to play around with and then tells you the actual car would unfortunately miss the motor, but hey no problem you could still roll around in it. Now for your refund... well, you already had fun with the tire?!
What part of "It's coming later (maybe)TM" are you not understanding?
a major CORE PART of the game as per the backer original offering HAS BEEN FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES killed off, and this section of the project is technically HALF of what was proposed - HALF (to my mind offline is one half with added sundries; with online being it's mirror),
Analogy needs to be the other way round? I propose ED is the beautiful gleaming car and 'offline mode' the spare tyre that the vast majority of us never use or need... and replaced with puncture repair gel anyway or 'alpha/beta access' you might say?
I'll just leave this here...

I know I've posted a lot on the side of the offliners. Mostly in an effort to make a point about businesses, what they think about consumers and their longevity.
This post just makes me sad.
It's not the loss of faith in FD, or that it even existed in the first place. It's the fact that someone has lost the excitement for something as big and wondrous as this galaxy could/can/will be.
IndeedInternet is not a point. I have excellent internet connection. The point is I hate MMO. I don't like playing them and never will like playing them. That is my choice I have right on.
Yes, I have solo. Which I can not use when I travel. I can not pause the game. I can not even play the game uninterrupted for hours daily. I have jobs to do. I have to answer the door. I pause the game. I have a life to live and do not need to live paralel life on online server forcing me to play when I do not have the time or will. I expect to play the game on my pace. wherever and whenever I want. Servers down or not. Internet available or not. I do not want to see other players, feel their presence or be influenced by their actions in any way. I expect to save game, return in the month time, load a game and continue the battle I was fighting or see the same situation on the market as it was when I have left. that's why many of us loved frontier.
That was promised to me. that game mode. Thats why we are so mad!
Hope I made it clearer to you![]()

Hmmm looks quite interesting thnx for the heads up!
Still you would want some compensation... I'm sure. And I really meant the engine, because people who complained have valid reasons that the game is not playable for them. As I said, I have no problem with internet still woud like a real pause, but can live with savw and exit, just the mission time not stopping is a pest!If you want to use that analogy it's like the dealer gives you a car that's supposed to have 600hp but due to mechanical problems it can only get 550hp.
I ALWAYS object to having my posts misrepresented in ANY manner, and no it's not alright but then that sort of thing appears to be in line with your displayed personality.Easy there now, let's not get ourselves worked up into a lather huh?
I cut out the bits of your post that are just speculation, hope that's ok with you.
Why are so many of us ready to ascribe malice aforethought behind the most workaday, everyday events? It's quite disheartening. FD pointed out -according to a quote earlier by Cdr Brodie- how FD struggled to find a solution.
In a way FD has a morton's fork set of scenarios presented to them if a choice is made. My feeling is both audiences could be satisfied but at a cost, or neither, or just one audience - therefore all of these options suck, they all had compromises, but they all sucked in different ways. As some famous American statesman said, "You can please ALL of the people SOME of the time...etc.":
1. Develop both aspects to satisfy both audiences - delay release to well into 2015 - Both Masterpieces- receive criticism for delayed launch, lose revenue up till then with investor confidence.
2. Concentrate time on devving the main audience aspect, meet release date on time with minor audience aspect too.
Major aspect good but not a masterpiece. Minor ok-ish to unsatisfactory - receive criticism, lose revenue.
3 Concentrate time on making main audience aspect to perfection, only by dropping minor aspect, released on time -
critical acclaim but receive criticism for dropping minor - lose revenue.
4 Develop both to satisfy both aspects, meet release date of Dec 16 2014,
Both aspects poor due to being rushed - receive criticism, game panned, lose investor revenue.
Which of these scenarios is the least suckiest? You can't tick all the boxes without either long dev time or LOTS of money to pay crack, top gun programmers.
QUICK - GOOD - CHEAP ----- Pick two.
Put yourself in their shoes - in David Braben's shoes...What would you do if you were him? Hold that thought, now...
Go back to that very time that you were captivated by this franchise as a boy or young man an adult, a parent, an uncle, whatever...
Remember that sense of freedom you had? That sense of Wonder? Of Awe? That UTTERLY satisfying feeling of...docking successfully for THE FIRST TIME? That message "Right on, Commander!" flashing up?
A "BOUNTY: 250 Cr." after showing a pirate what for?...
How would YOU, --with £8 million-- go about developing one of THE most anticipated, hyped, precious heritage-level franchises into something that will do justice to the memories, desires,
nostalgia and wonder of countless players all over the world? Every single one of who has a sense of ownership and has their OWN ideas on what should be left in or out (too many cooks?), all in a galloping information technology age of increasing connectivity, and rivals all around you?
What if YOU as a player, ALSO created and delivered the FIRST? Wouldn't you also wan't it to succeed, it's your 'Baby', and yet, you watched it develop and flourish, you know what makes it tick, as it's 'Parent', and yet also enjoy playing with it as much as anyone else. The notion that Braben & his team have dishonourable intent in any sense?
I don't believe that for a second. An over-ambition?, perhaps. Over-confidence fueled by excitement? Maybe. Mistakes? Misjudgements? Sure, without a doubt. But intentional? No.
Reading right now NL 50...and ask myself....WHY NOT EARLIER THIS.....
Why not wrote this all in NL 49 ??????
That is cleary written. ..nothing hidden...still bad for offliner....but more honestly.
If they do that before many of this stress which we have this week never must happen.
It heals not all wounds but is a good way...
Too all which want a refund....don't update to beta 3.9 or 3.09 because testing an beta and decide it is not for me is one thing.... continued playing another.

As for getting worked up you couldn't be further from the truth if you tried, I have been around the block and back MORE than once in my 60 years and FD's behaviour - as well as your own dispalyed attitude are nothing new and CERTAINLY nothing whatsoever to get worked up about.
On another forum I post on there is an 'ignore' function and that poster's 'contributions' are no longer visable to you, sadly that doesn't apply here.
I'm a big proponent of offline mode but "DayZ in Space" sounds awesome! That should have been their kickstarter elevator pitch haha
