Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I almost felt like an actual weary traveller returning home after that trip, but it was nice to see an asteroid base as I reached the California Nebula. I passed through and the Cobra is now resting at HIP 17403 with 51 sensor fragments collected. Just incase I wanted to unlock both Palin and Sedesi for some reason.

I actually thought they'd take up cargo space so I intended to zoom straight to Palin nearer to the bubble, but since they don't I thought I may as well grab 50. I may just head down to Chloe Sedesi because she's prettier and near a nebula. It's not like you need to visit an engineer again after the full unlock. Plus Inara says they both take cart data so that should be a quicker process.

And when Fdev gets the game right, they get it right. I just thought I should say that because I'm quick enough to complain when I think they don't.

I was also randomly scanning a terraformable world when I noticed it had biological signs, so I thought I'd go down there and give my shiny new Artemis suit a proper try. I thought it'd give some mats but apparently I just earned a bounty for killing the local plant life. I'll take it.

How much was the bounty payout for shooting the wayward fungus?

Professor Palin is quite useful, getting your thrusters up to level 5.
Chloe Sedesi offers the same upgrades, i have unlocked her, but have yet to visit her.
You may need to revisit engineers to get the experimental effects.

Slowly I start to find places which haven't been visited by everybody and their Grandma...

Found a little system with six planets, three of them landable. Someone has been in this system, but only honked and went on.
Not really surprising, as it is really small (six planets) with three landables and two biosigns. As I tend to take the approach of the Silveroak Squirrel (a specimen at home on my home planet, known for its relatively slow, but thorough modus operandi), I set my foot on all three nad already scanned the Bacterium on one planet - with 7.7MCr quite valuable for a Bacterium, I would like to think. Didn't scan the last one, yet, as it took me three attempts to get down to the surface without a CTD - a sign that I should take a break.

I didn't even think about engineering the suit until Ryder mentioned it.

I got all three when I thought I needed to complete ten ground CZ's for an engineer unlock but I had no intention of doubling up on material grind and trying other on foot stuff. You never know though. I was dragged into trying out a few ground CZ's

Plus I started customising my suits last night so they look pretty.

I have not done any engineering on my combat setup yet and have not felt the need to. If you gear up all g3 from the pioneer store with two of the rocket launcher grade 3 its fairly easy to pull in 10 mill per high intensity ground combat zone. I did find a grade 3 dominator with combat speed, and the combat speed is nice.

I did feel the need to engineer a bit on the maverick suit when raiding settlements and looting everything. Grade 4 and a backpack, next is soft steps.
As for me about pedestrian gear, I tried mixing laser and kinetic in the beginning, until I had a Tormentor G3 out of curiosity. Now this one is my favorite, and once you give it both silencers, you can do every stealth/assassination missions with only the Torm and your normal flight suit, really.

Did the same as you with the Mav for shopping activities, it's G4 with a backpack.

The Dom is the one I'm trying to improve even more, not because of CZ, but because of these container protection missions in which the friendly npcs are quickly eleminated then you are on your own to deal with waves from different angles, and since they level up in the same time as you, you need at a same time max ammo, speed, battery, and a decent firepower.

As a classic doom/UT99/Q3arena person, I worship a rocket launcher, too, so L6 is close behind. The Plasma airsoft sniper is third. The rest is for science when I have extra mats.

But yeah, I would say that at the moment I had the Torm and a NVG Artemis, it made things easier for a lot of mission so the rest follows at its own pace. And with that experience, you see that you don't need everything G5 but can focus on what you need and still having a bit of sense of danger while stealth with not so upgraded stuff, that's why I like Artemis and Regular flight suit for stealth since you can't cut panels or engage in sustained fight, I call this ''à la Han Solo'': you grab your fancy leather jacket and the Torm and see what happens. (And when success, you can say it was your skills more than your gear that did the job done. If you fail, well... You can put the blame on such ill-equiped adventure!)

EDIT: forgot to mention that at the very beginning with G1 stuff, I did a lot of arnarchy/installation raids with the help of a Scarab SRV: you go there, shot something, it rings the alarm so they all come to you, orbiting the outskirts in turret mode. You'll deal with fighters, but none of them knows how to operate a L6 so you are safe. You may have one or two waves of renforcements, once you dealt with them, the rest is a bunch of civilians hidding with laser/kinetic pistols. Should you be ashamed? Yes. But on the other hand, this can help a beginner to gather mats, and the SRV comes with a left panel listing mats in a large perimeter, and let's be honest, you have the ''super villain'' feel as a bonus everyone can enjoy in a game after work so...

Depending on which base that was it could have been built by a CG I took part in back when the T9 hadn’t been buffed and there were no Guardian modules, long hauls from Maia and adjacent systems. Hard work and probably when I got my first first discoveries.

It seems like I had to collect three distinct samples to get one full capsule or something. It was a huge 50k bounty.
50k would be a reward for you finding your first example in the Codex and can also be gained by scanning from ship and SRV using the built in scanners. You will get the reward for taking the samples when you sell them at a Vista Genomics store in a base or Fleet Carrier you will potentially get an additional bonus of four times the reward.

Bacterium are generally worth 1,000.000 credits though there are some varieties that are worth more.

I have not posted much here for some weeks. There is not a lot to say when you are attacking titans, running BGS missions for my faction and Quain has been wandering in the black for some time. In the past Quain has been "north" to Beagle point and beyond, to the "southern" most system and "western" most system. It turns out reaching the eastern most system is harder than it first looked. As you can see from Quain's life time flight path there have been some set backs and route changes to get there:

My travel map looks rather unadventurous compared:
