ARX store inflation

So Frontiers strategy is "lay people off, increase prices". Genius. When it backfires it'll be someone else's fault, probably.

Their strategy: squeeze as much money out of the game as possible before the source will dry.

Think back: the release year of Horizon. Think back: the year of Odyssey's release. Think back: what year is it.
Also, it doesn't hurt to remember the beginning of the Targoid Arc, namely what a funny and cheesy video with the update, where the only thing missing was the exploding helicopter and Wilhelm's scream. It was obviously done literally on rubber bands and paper clips at the last minute.
All of this together points to content from the canceled DLC.

It only makes sense that they would now make a game service with bait in the form of new ships and, it wouldn't surprise me, modules for real money. And then flee the town. Classic.

As part of FDevs 'Annual Report and Accounts 2023', on page 27 of their 'Strategic Report' they state:

"As a product, our games must continue to represent an appropriate value proposition to our players. In a challenging economic environment where players have less disposable income, it becomes increasingly important to ensure our games stand out and provide exceptional entertainment."

For FDev to acknowledge that players have less disposable income and to then price-hike the cost of Arx, makes no sense.

Is that providing exceptional entertainment and value; or am I missing something here?

"We understand that no one likes a price rise and we’ve done our best to keep prices down. We’re giving you a heads-up now so that you have plenty of time to take advantage of current prices."

It's hard to fathom why Frontier didn't take the above approach to announcing a price increase. Games Workshop are notorious for high prices, but at least they gave their community a fair heads-up.
tbf, GW are used to dealing with Cosmic Horror.

Well I suspect they'll find a decrease in revenue from arx purchases now, or they should do. Why anyone would be happy paying £12.99 for a suit is beyond me, if they weren't shifting many before they'll be shifting even less now. I do hope everyone doesnt spend any money on arx for expensive in store purchases now so fdev get the message properly....

The store crashed soon after the P2 was put on sale...
Others may not agree with your reasoning...

But it is a new ship, so not entirely surprising.

i would have expected stuff thats on the market sice it was introduced to get chaper and the new stuff to get more expensive. Well i guess i dont need any cosmetics for the game than. And to those wo talk about getting stuff with the free arx, well if you want a singular weapon color its 5k arx, therfore with 400 free per week you need to play the game 13 weeks.

My very suspicious mind wonders if there is some ploy in hand to entice more engagement with the new powerpants since that has ARXes available to reward participants, the more they participate, the more they can win / earn.

even if thats the case, i personaly dont like pvp or the powerplay system so free arx there would not entice me to play the game more. It looks like a attempt to get money quickly same goes for prebuilds and early access. Instead of making the game less grindy and more fun you sell the sollution to get around the grind to new players.

Possibly, but the amounts are not particularly significant unless you're in the top 10 for the power, unless they significantly increase them on the screenshots from the stream - +100 ARX for a top 10% participant, +50 ARX for a top 25% participant - you'd have to play at a top 10% level for an entire year just to get an extra mid-range paint, and by definition the vast majority of participants can't do that (while the ones that can are probably the ones who'd have been playing intensively anyway)

yes making a game more fun and not having to spend days to grind materials is a very bad idea.
i thought grind is supposed to be the shortest, most efficient yet least fun way to obtain things. you spend days at it? arent there other options?

You say these magical words, but there is no substance behind them. What is "more fun" to you personally?
almost everyithing in game can be fun to players thats why i was non specific about it. But i would guess grinding encoded or raw mats is not on the list of most people. If you make a coplete build you need so much stuff that you ether take a long time collecting them or you use the efficent methods that still take long but instead of week its days. I also asume your not home all day and you can play the game about 4 hours dayly
