(PS he'll totally be back)
Pipeline guy didn't even make it a day...
He's been posting away on his substack. This is the latest one:
Star Citizen: The Need for Adversarial Press
Why continue?
Howdy!
As you’ve noticed, I have once again retired for only about a day before getting right back into the saddle. I wanted to take a moment and wax poetic about my intentions about starting to post here more often - and what those posts may be.
This isn’t PIPELINE - I don’t care about clicks, nor do I care much about posting “hit” content itself. What I do care about is intentions. Mine are simple - to inform people about things that they would like to know about. What I also like doing is figuring out the intentions of others, especially when those intentions are relevant to a group that is not yet informed on them. I am of the belief that CIG like other game companies, or hell, other companies in general are unclear on these intentions. This can be for a variety of reasons, but when these reasons begin to interfere with a consumer’s right to be informed properly on a purchase, then I believe we have a problem. Over the past several years, I have made it a bit of a hobby to ask around and figure out what intentions were behind various actions that have taken place in the past, and most relevant to all of you…
I have asked about what their intentions are on the future; What is the intended final product of Star Citizen?
I believe I’ve given one of the clearest answers, one that has yet to be properly given to anyone outside of CIG, but I need more time to give these answers context, and additional answers to a few questions:
- Why is it now that they’re heading for 1.0?
- Is everything alright internally?
- Why has it taken so long?
- Are they confident in reaching their goals?
I will level with all of you; There are happy employees, and there are disgruntled employees; There have been cheers and parties, and there have been shouts and arguments.
This is the reality of any project, but I do not believe this reality is so ugly that exposing some of this machinery will taint both the project and your will to continue supporting it. Star Citizen will continue forward whether these articles get published or not.
Ground rules though:
- No allegations towards specific staff members will ever be made or tolerated.
- No pressure will be given towards any sources to leak/share their experiences. I have always ran a “call in if you have info” policy, and make my direct communications outwards limited to direct corporate clarifications.
- Story content footage will continue to not be leaked. This is the culimination of years of work, and I/my sources would prefer its content and visuals unspoiled. However, information relevant to its release will come as it becomes available.
