The Type-8

Efficiency one would imagine, to collect the lumps as fast as they're generated. When strip laser mining this becomes increasingly important to maximise credits per hour.
Efficient mining is not using a lot of limpets. Granted you need enough. And to be able to power 3 mining lasers.

How to mine

I disagree. With 2 mining lasers I still end up waiting after depletion for 10 limpets to complete their job. Therefore, there's no point having a third mining laser unless I can have at least another 5 limpets.

Improving efficiency is all about identifying the critical path or bottleneck. In ED mining that's almost always collection, not lasers.

Perhaps you should watch the video

I've done a lot of mining; I've developed my analysis and methods myself. I don't think I have anything to learn by watching videos about it. (And I don't like "learning" games by watching videos).

If you think there's anything in the video which invalidates my arithmetic above, feel free to tell me how I've slipped up.

Hi :)

I’m surprised nobody’s posted something yet, or maybe they did somewhere else and I didn’t see it.

What do you all think of her?

🤔...Hmm, not bad at all, I've also noticed some of the detailing favours the '8 figure', for example, eight thrusters / engines, eight 'lights' (four each side of cockpit), eight front 'nacelle' detailed objects, (maybe a combination of lights / weapon hardpoints ?), a few other features (at the moment) that could point to eight cargo racks, (again four rectangles placed each side on hull sponsons ?).

In any event, what specific role this ship plays or favours in the game (if any) is generally not known at the moment, as is it's specific internal / external module slots etc.
I get the impression that this ship might be a 'fast' trader going by the recent livestream information, but....🤷‍♂️...anyhow, it's an interesting design. (y)

Jack :)

The design of these next gen ships is excellent. Love the new vision for it.

Lakon already produced a medium-sized combat hauler (Keelback), and presumably this ship is outclassed in hull and capacity by the type 9 and 10, so maybe a dedicated mining ship? The game needs one of those imo. If it can double as an explorer, even better.

Better yet, a salvage ship? New gameplay incoming?

Except for the extra set of engines in the back of the T8, I’d say they look pretty damn similar.

Really?

It looks really cool. I’m actually hoping it will be viable as a decent all rounder - not just for cargo - as it has a nice “home ship” vibe to it.
Aesthetics-wise it's the perfect pirate/mercenary ship; but also the perfect miner/tug/construction ship.
