The Type-8

That's a nice look. I wonder why it's not available for most ships?

In fact, I find it very frustrating that most designs are limited to an arbitrary set of ships. I often build in sets, so as an example, for bounty hunting I've got a Viper Mk.IV, a Python Mk.II and an Anaconda. The Viper is for when I'm in a wing with mates and want something that's more like a fighter escort, the Python is more or less the default for when we just want to blast through some missions, and the Anaconda is for when I want to be lazy solo and gather materials from the remnants of the poor sods I was sent after. I like trying to use every ship in the game for something, and this is a good way to triple down on some job roles.

I'd like to paint sets all the same, but options that I like that are also available to all the ships in a set are limited. This Crossfire Black paintjob looks great on the Chieftain, but isn't available for my other AX ships except my Titan wreckage salvaging Keelback. I'd have considered buying it four times over if it was also available for the Diamondback Explorer and Type-10, but it's not. I really like the Apollo Green paintjob with the olive base and orange stripes, but that's also only available for a handful of ships. This is why I tended to stick with the basic military/tactical paints, but now even they're not consistently available for all ships. So frustrating!

I fear that some may reading too much into the greebles of the new ships. Remember when people were speculating that the bit above the Python Mk2 cockpit might be an EVA hatch or something? And then it just turned out to be a decorative element? Yeah. Not that saying that the artists involved weren't thinking anything beyond "it looks cool", but it's my understanding that design concepts for parts of video game vehicles don't always translate into being functional items.

That's because we were told before it came out that it would have some kind of special feature. So people were wondering what it was.
Personally, it would be enough for me if this ship could be seen through the edsy.)

I wonder what the big round hatch on the side of the ship could be ?

P.S. I looked closely and it seems to me that these two large sticks (horns) and are compartments for the same boxes along the length of the ship.
And what we see in the front on the horns is a winch mechanism to move the containers along the length of the ship for unloading from the back.
Maybe there will be 10 pieces of class 5 containers in it ?
🤔
The hatch at the side caught my eye immediately also. It actually looks like an airlock, though I say that knowing that I'm throwing red meat to the 'ship interiors' crowd that could lead to wild speculation and another ride on the great expectations rollercoaster.. I don't think this is 'ship interiors confirmed', but still.. that's what looks like to me.

Otherwise, my first impressions are that it looks amazing. As far as the discussion about internals vs. the Python MkI go, I thought I heard that the 'prongs' were there to make room for the hardpoints, which would plausibly leave more internal space for storage options, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the Type 8 hold at least the same max cargo as the Python, and likely more.

I also think that the low-hung cockpit (missus) is reminiscent of the Krait and think that this could have fit very well as a Krait Heavy or something. Overall, I love it and I'm hopeful that the internals do it justice. I'm really liking the design direction these new ships are taking.
🤔
Okay, Wild Speculation!...:D
Maybe both 'Hatches', the 'domed' one on the Python (situated between the two vertical rear 'fins') and the side ones on the Type 8 could be docking ports for the Apex Shuttle?
Second thoughts though...Na!...On the Python MK2 (the Stellar version) the ship kit supplied with that version actually covers the 'port' in question, so that idea of mine seems pretty useless.🙄
Still, speculation is always an interesting topic.:D

Jack :)

Yeh, if it's good when it comes to standing it's own in combat it might become my new "home ship". Though I'd really like to see more upscale cockpit—something similar to Alliance C-ships, still industrial and working class, but more polished than the rest of the T-series.
If it has a similar HP set up as the Krait Mk II, that'll make me happy. I think it's one of the best looking ships ED has. It might become my favorite if so. I spend a lot of time in my DBX on the explorer side currently.

Again, just shooting the breeze with this, but having docking ports would be a doable way for passengers/crew to switch from one ship to another. Interiors would be preferable of course, but it could be done with the menu system we currently have. That actually would be really cool IMO.

We know we'll get specifications in the next stream on probably the 26th this month. So I'd expect pre access to come on August 7th when the Python MK II becomes fully available. Maybe a month earlier.
I.e. it will be after the 19th update, after PP2 ?

Do we actually have a confirmed date for update 19? Not a power player so not been paying that much attention.

Some of the new ships will be after update 19 but how many is unknown.

We were also shown PythonMk2, as T8 is now, and that was on February 2.

We received the python itself as early as the beginning of May.

It turns out to be 3 months after the first picture.

So we'll get the T8 at the end of August.

Which doesn't exclude it from being an actual EVA airlock. -that being said i think it fairly unlikely and might just be greebling instead.

In any case i guess we will see once they finally tell us what the new feature is sometime after powerplay 2.0.
