DLC18 discussion and predictions

I just had a thought

Frontier usually gives us what we ask for (well a lot of times does) but not the way we wanted it.

How about we get some of the top animals in a "coastal" or "islands" pack: brown pelican, cozumel island coati, Guayanan red howler monkey.

Not the specific species we expect but the animal type we want.
Coastal Expansion Pack:
Pacific Walrus
Coatimundi [Cozumel Island]
Howler Monkey [Guayanan red]
Brown Pelican
Sea Otter
Carribean/American Flamingo
Southern Rockhopper Penguin
Atlantic Puffin/King Eider
Nene
Victoria's Crowned Pigeon
Southern Elephant Seal/South American Sea Lion
Amazonian Pirahna's [E]
Coconut Crab [E]
180+ scenery pieces imported from Planet Coaster 2 with a ton of that new amazing foliage

Scenery + Animal pack combined

Honestly, I wish they just combined Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster to Planet Park as the ultimate mega theme park/resort/zoo whatever simulator. How could anything ever compete with that

they could do an expansion which brings animals to the game and also brings animal themed rides

It’s insane how wrong you are lol
It has leftover swimming animations which they do not have, even if it doesn’t use it ingame
to be fair the cassowary can swim in game im pretty sure but still the kiwi is as much a rig edit as most animals are.
You would think now would be the time to do it, but I’ll say the way the handled some of the PZ news makes me think they will still get through it as quick as possible.

“Ok I am legally contracted to talk about PZ, here is a teaser of your stupid animal. Now I can finally get back to talking about Elite Dangerous and F1!”
Im hoping that because planet coaster 2 is a thing now it has its own marketing team who will be involved in the stream and will likley show a little more care to planet zoo

But what if its made on the backbone of imported content from planco2 and therefor not the last dlc but just an "extra" to capatalise twice on some of planco2 new stuff?

If we're only getting two packs, I really think the best route would be a neotropical animal extravaganza and a global finale, but if all those speculating about the end of support in 2024 are wrong, I think a coastal pack would be awesome. There are still a few large holes in the base game roster: monkeys, birds, and South American animals. There are also a few smaller holes (i.e. Asian filler ungulates) and missing icons (i.e. baboon), but sometimes it's nice to get a DLC that stands alone and contains pretty much everything you need to build a new, specific area for zoos. I love that aspect of the barnyard pack. You don't need it to complete the base game, but it's a fun addition. I could see a few more birds and perhaps rabbits working their way into other packs, but it did a great job covering all of the heavy hitters. With our seal, sea lion, and penguins in the game, we already have the basics for a general zoo, but a pack that would let me build a larger coastal section could be very cool. The walrus and sea otter are sure-fire hits, and there are some great options for birds, especially the pelican. Manatees and sea turtles would probably be popular with a general audience. Native American NW Coast scenery could be amazing. There are also many options for exhibit animals.

planet coaster 2 really threw a spanner in my ideas I so thought it was going to come in december but im still sold on the idea of 2 packs 1 themed and 1 keepers collection when they will release I have no idea.

Also the idea that planet zoo could see a coastal pack because of all the scenery from planet coaster 2 is really interesting because it would actually make alot of marketing sense to do it people excited for planet coaster 2 and water parks get the coastal dlc to play with some approximation of the features now while they wait for planet coaster 2 then get planet coaster 2 later.

Im very curious to see how much time planet coaster 2 gets on the stream and how angry it makes the elite dangerous people

coastal/latin america/new world and final pack being keepers would be a nice finale

question, if planet zoo does a polar pack/antarctica pack what would be your roster?

For me it would be:
Musk Ox [Headliner]
Pacific Walrus/Leopard Seal
Chinstrap penguin
Puffin
Sea Otter
Snowshoe Hare
Stoat
Snow Owl/Lemming [E]

I really doubt they will add to Planet Zoo the new pieces created for PC2. It would be like: "hey, look at this trailer of our new amazing game with all the new stuff, but you can already get this content for Planet Zoo, so maybe you don't need to wait months to buy our new game"

Part of my reasoning is that last year they followed a pattern of visiting every major continent. Which leaves the Americas as they were left almost untouched. Minus the peccary and the sloth of course. Which is why I think a New World/ Latin America/ Americas is likely.

The barnyard pack really made me realize frontier can and will go against the current top meta wishlist. While there are a ton of awesome animals left on the top of that list (coati, baboon, secretary bird, etc.) Frontier is also likely to pick a pack that is from a more requested theme, and people always like aquatic animals.

Now with all that being said, following JWE2’s last dlc a keeper pack is still incredibly likely. It would cover the most amount of animals and can also give everyone a little bit of everything. At this stage I don’t think a full bird pack is gonna happen at all, likewise a full monkey pack or a mixed monkey/ bird pack.

I’m just trying to think outside of the box, Frontier usually likes to surprise us. For better or worse…….
The Barnyard pack is the exception and not the rule, though. That was a rare instance where they let the free update drive the pack theme. Aquatic is the only other example I can think of... And all of the packs from Wetlands and on have skewed heavily toward the top 10 of the wishlist.

And the packs always feel more like they're picked by the species and then the theme. If it was theme first then Tropical, Oceania, and Eurasia wouldn't have happened. Those three packs gave people the animals they wanted with a fully different theme.

The current top 10 is just such a smattering of randomness. Haha. The only non-generic theme that really sticks out is Latin America because it accounts nearly 50% of the top 20. Haha. And it's been a while since they've gone back to North America in a meaningful way so... There could be something to your thought process!

But what if its made on the backbone of imported content from planco2 and therefor not the last dlc but just an "extra" to capatalise twice on some of planco2 new stuff?

Unironically till now coastal pack has allways been niche, but this alone makes me consider it as one of the most likly additions if dlc should continue past 1 more
I think it's far more likely that PZ assets inspired PC2 content and I don't really see it happening in reverse. Mythological = Twilight and Rustic Viking = Arctic. Oceania = Resort.

They're not usually that far off as far as the sub-species go. :ROFLMAO: And with that roster, why not go more specific with Latin America? I guess I could see it if they wanted to work in the tree kangaroo but otherwise...
