Why is console still being ignored

Never again will i partake in anything associated with fdev period im done
I was heavily into ED on the Xbox, busy squadron, the rest of it. I was very disappointed bordering on cross when console support was withdrawn, and it ultimately killed off my squadron. But I cooled down, justified buying a laptop as I am self-employed so use one, anyway. I used it as a moment from which to upgrade my laptop so it could handle gaming, too. I now just plug that into my TV and have the same gaming experience as I had before, just I'm now a PC player. I could finally change my CMDR name, which was nice, and several of us have joined a squadron we were previously allied with, so I even have that side of it back. I loved the game then, I still love the game now, and overall I'm much better off in my own head than if I had rage quit and walked away. So I appreciate that it is easily said - and I am fortunate in being able to afford a decent gaming laptop - but I would urge you not to make a hasty decision. The game is still great. The console to PC account port was really easy, too.

Just to let you know, that would include the forum. But it's ok to come back if one's heart softens to allow for a more reasoned assessment of the situation.
😂

@Fizzatron sorry this offended you. If I delete it, I fear you will simply accuse me of seeking to airbrush history, so I will it stand, but sorry you too exception to it. I will leave your post alone in future. Sorry.

Why are console players still being ignored ? We are still a consumer base that is being treated very poorly. This game has so much potential, Starfield sold more the 9 million copies, and it,s crap compared to Elite. Why they continue to leave that kind of money laying around is just baffling .We would eagerly come back if there was some new content,it doesn't have to be alot,a new ship, raxxla hint, a new module, the list goes on.
If you really like the game switch to PC. It will always be more than a console version due to the fact that you can use multiple hardware controller, you have API Data and very handsome 3rd Party Tools, get over with it and play on PC for a much better experience overall. (I have a PS4/5 Account also)

Yeah we used to have a lot of that stuff on for consoles which gave a better overall gameplay/feel. And that all stopped when the third party apps stopped supporting Consoles( which was sad but understandable) . But the caveat is console players are nicer people .

I play on my Xbox using GFN via edge browser, graphics are a bit meh but hey ho. But the best bit of GFN is that I can sit in my car waiting for the wife to finish work and play ED on my phone. Absolutely brilliant!

Many people have come back whether you find it funny or not. Thanks for your invaluable contribution to the thread.
Okay, I apologise - I thought you were being sarcastic and found it funny. Someone who is never wrong such as yourself will surely appreciate that things written on a page are open to interpretation. I would venture, though, that my earlier efforts - post just a few above yours - did represent a genuine, engaged and constructive 'contribution to the thread', so do not feel that I deserved the smug, high-handed snark you doled out. But I guess that is the modern internet. Thank you for the reminder not to relax.

Maybe it's me that needs to apologize, the snark you got was the snark I saw, maybe I was wrong. It was early in the morning and I hadn't drunk my coffee yet. I can assure you, I am plenty wrong plenty of times. But honestly, I wasn't being sarcastic, though I don't know where that leaves us in this conversation at this point, so I'll leave it there. o7

I think tbh if fdev canned xbox1x and went for Xbox series and ps5 it would be possible, it was stated at the time of the canning that they should have done this but they refused and just cut off two more platforms from the mix now we just have PC (64bit), we lost PC (32bit), Mac, playstation and Xbox from the mix. It's a shame as there was LOADS of players back in the day all over the platforms.

TBH I think Fdev used the oh we can't get it to work on last gen as an easy get out clause. There was no effort for next gen. As other game developers are moving into other platforms , Fdev seem to only consolidate into one which has hurt them . At least iny opinion

At this point the horse has definitely been beaten to death. Current gen console players can play the latest version of Elite via GeForce Now if they so wish.

I have nothing to add but: Cool username and avatar, CMDR!

I agree but I'm more than happy to express my thoughts as often as I can 😉. ( Every console post I'm there 🤣)
Yes Geforce Now is available with a monthly subscription to get into EDO if you so wish( or if you have already transferred ( if you haven't it's easy and well worth it) across and you can play the non footy live to see if you like it ) . Or you can save up for a PC.
But a question do you still have to pay the Xbox tariff for playing online ( core or ultimate ) ? I can't seem to get a definitive answer .

The major kicker here is ED isn't the only space game now and the others have console versions, yes we can play by adding more and more tech and subscriptions to the mix but why should we when we can just go to other games because fdev changed the engine (mid game) and then just said sod it and canned development?

Tbh given that strategy it's only a matter of time before it's entirely canned 🤔

Which space games are comparable?

Which space games are comparable?
That's the point. Depending on what you desire from a "space game", none of the contenders out there will cut it in comparison, or maybe all of them do. If your most important metric is "space", any of them will itch your scratch. My personal opinion of the alternatives usually brought up: Starfield isn't really a space game but a "space themed RPG", Star Citizen is still a mess and primarily after your money, NMS goes out of its way to keep space out of the space game, and EVE doesn't even let you sit in your cockpit.
If your priority is, as is in my case, flying a spaceship (bonus points: in VR) with a very satisfying 6dof flight model and somewhat realistic galaxy with somewhat accurate physics, none of the other "space games" out there comes even close. Maybe SC comes close as far as the cockpit experience goes, but it's still an unfinished mess with a questionable business model.
