DLC18 discussion and predictions

I'm quite hyped to see the tree kangaroo, the Markhor and sifaka on this list. The first two are among my favs. Sifaka is quite nice addition on its own. But I would find it super disappointing if SA gets nothing again 😌

Maybe we would still get some SA animals that don't require new dictionary words like the spectacled bear, bush dog or spider monkey?

I think the sifaka is good given the uniqueness of its motion, but I also hope we get at least one primate from South America... not a single species confirmed thus far is from there and the last pack not having a single south american species would feel horrible. I have faith frontier will at least add the howler monkey/marmoset and the coati. Rhea and spectacled bear would be welcome additions too (maybe the bear could be the anniversary animal instead).

btw how many species do you think the pack will have? Given we already have basically 8 habitat species confirmed this means it is not following the format of an animal pack, so I feel it might have either the amount of 2 animal packs (14 habitat species) or maybe a little less (12 habitat species or so). What do you guys think?
Yeah that's the only reason I think that if the dictionary words are true, we'll be getting a pack after this next one. This might change after the pack comes out, but at this point I cannot believe that they would totally ignore South America in the last pack. I mean even getting 2-3 species would counter that and make me feel that that's it, but none? I just can't see it.

What if South/Central/Latin America is next, and the words are being kept out of the dictionary, and then some of the words found in the dictionary are actually the final pack?

ETA: looks like the 8th of October is a safe bet, and non-logically, of course it would be since I'm on vacation the whole week before that when I'd have plenty of time to play. o-O Naturally. Of course, then I could at least work on getting my zoos ready for the new animals.

Hate to bring it to you but hamadryas and goodfellow in the dictionary suggest otherwise
Lord, I have seen what you have done to others (@Swiftie_Midnights_ and the porcupine)…….

My local zoo, Chester Zoo, has Coquerel's Sifaka. They have bred them but so far haven't been too successful in raising them but then again the European breeding program only began a few years ago. I've seen Crowned Sifaka too at Cotswold Wildlife Park, they've had those for a good while.

If Chester zoo has them that's one more reason why is very likely that we are getting them.

Chester also has Spider Monekys

Just sayin'
And spec bears. Don't remember if they have coatis. I don't think they have rheas and maras.
It also has Caribbean flamingos, Humboldt penguins, grey crowned cranes, and scarlet ibis. Also not listed on the website is apparently the zoo has bred endangered white wing ducks.

Yeah Spec Bear is still an option

Park they worked with more than once, Shepret, has both Coatis and Maras if I remember correctly
Honestly if the whole dictionary word lineup is true and the next pack the Spectacled Bear is a possible inclusion in the pack still, considering both words are used for other animals already. Spider Monkey as well depending on the exact species.

Hmmmm, let's see:

Brown Spider Monkey
Spectacled Bear
Brazilian Porcupine
Giant Armadillo
American Flamingo

what other Latin American animals could we come up with that could be included just based on words already used?

The fact we've got more than 7 habitat candidates, with no obvious Americans is a bit of a red flag.

If we imagine here for a second that the pack could be alot bigger and have another 5 animals in stock for SA, just going by the dictionary the potential animals seem really lackluster to me. Like monkey aside the main animals i want from SA are coati, mara and ibis/spoonbill noone of which are in there
Well it should be kept in mind that of all new words, we knew about some for quite some time, while some arrived just few days ago. It can be entirely possible that there are animals in new pack that just haven't been put km dictionary yet.

At the end of the day, we don't know the criteria for putting new words in
